You will stay at Pumula Surf Camp’s lodge that consists of 3 bedrooms. They have a large outdoor deck for the sultry warm evenings, spent around the South Africa style "Braai", a fire pit for fun filled gatherings and various outdoor chill out spots.
The coastline of the surf camp is full of small rocky bays, estuaries and long sandy beaches, excellent for surfing, snorkeling, fishing, and diving. Most local beaches are protected by lifeguards and shark nets. The climate is subtropical so it’s warm all year round, meaning many days of surfing in bikini’s or board shorts or a shorty for winter. There are 7 surf spots within a 10 minutes’ drive from the camp with a good variety of waves that work in different conditions, from point breaks to shallow sandbars, stretching out up to 150 meters from the shore break to the backline. With the average summers swell size of 2-4 foot and 4-6 foot in winter. So Pumula Surf Camp’s surf instructors are always able to find a suitable, safe surfing environment to cater for your ability.
Arrival day, check in, get familiar with the Surf House, check out the surf, sunset SUP session.
Morning yoga session, followed by breakfast, followed by surf lesson. You will head to the beach, with a qualified instructor.
If you are a beginner you will stay in shallow water and be taught how to stand up and a ride a foamie.
Intermediate you will head into deeper waters and learn how to improve your surfing.
Advanced, a guide will take you to super awesome spots.

Justin started surfing competitively at a young age and dominated the junior ranks and earned his Springbok colors to surf the world games in Bali and Brazil. He then went onto the world pro series, surfing and traveling throughout South African and Europe reaching the top 200 on the world rankings. Justin has always been on hand for coaching and guidance to help nurture the young up and coming provincial surfers to follow their dreams highlighted by two members of the local rural Umzumbe surf club qualified for their national colors through the national development program. Justin is very passionate about coaching and sharing the art of wave riding. Since 2010, his surf school has been very successful with loads of stoked students coming back for more and continuing with their new way of life.
This surf vacation will take place in Pumula, Umzumbe, South Africa a 300m walk to the beautiful, unspoiled and uncrowded Pumula Beach. The Surf camp has a pack of friendly, super cute dogs and a few cats. It is surrounded by nature, spot the beautiful large bushbuck and her family, hear the porcupines at night and enjoy the super cute natural vervet monkeys and tons of birdlife. See the Fish Eagle soar and hear them call across the valley. Their large sub-tropical garden borders on the most sensational Mangrove forest, which they have direct access to. It is a super magical place.
Surf camp menu consists of fresh healthy nutritious meals. Breakfast is served with seasonal fruit smoothies, muesli, and yoghurts, fresh eggs, and croissants. This is included in the package.
They also serve lunch and dinner for an additional fee.
Lunch is usually light with fresh greens from the garden, homemade bread and fresh ocean fish if available. Dinner varies daily and usually consists of fresh greens, grains, salads and a good quality meat option. Examples: Traditional African foods, Fresh seafood platters and a Traditional South African meal of a braai veils (flame grilled barbeque).

Daily shuttles are available from King Shaka International Airport. You can take the Southern Shuttle - Margate mini coach. You will be dropped at 2nd Avenue Pumula. Pumula Surf Camp will come to collect you. If private airport transfers is preferred, it can be arranged by them too.
