Program

The Point Break surfing course for beginners is designed for two types of people. That is, for those approaching surfing for the first time and for those who have already surfed sometimes, maybe in the past, and therefore want to start again from the basics and learn the right moves to be enjoying riding waves.

Point Break Watersport Center will introduce you to the world of surfing in a fun and encouraging way. During your course, they will teach you how to surf easily, safely, and in the right way.

With this course, the team will provide you with the essential knowledge that will allow you not only to make the most of your sessions, but above all to get excited and move on to the next level, aiming for bigger waves. The goal of this beginner course is therefore to convey your passion, make you feel comfortable in the waves, and progressively allow you to connect with the ocean.

What will you learn with their beginner surfing course?

During the lessons, you will analyze together the basic techniques of surfing: to do this, the lessons will be divided into a theory part and a practical part.

Point Break Watersport Center will start with the theory and then move on to warm-up, water practice, and final stretching. To allow you to take as many waves as possible, the team will take you to surf on waves that break on sandy beaches or on easy reef breaks, where you can have a safe and comfortable experience as you explore the waves for the first time. You will therefore be able to ride the foam of the already broken waves and your first small and easy green waves not yet broken.

Here in details, is what they will teach you progressively in their beginner surfing course:

  • Know the equipment
  • How to identify possible dangers and how to move safely once in the water
  • How to evaluate the surfing spot
  • How to position yourself on the board
  • How to paddle properly and effectively
  • How to move and how to sit on the board while waiting for the waves
  • Getting up on the board
  • Surfing the white wash (foam) of the already broken waves
  • How to understand the right time to try to catch the wave and get up on the board
  • Understand which types of waves to paddle to and which not
  • How to turn the board on both sides
  • Priority rules (surfing ethics)
  • How to overcome the breaking zone and position yourself beyond the white wash
  • How and where to position yourself in the line-up
  • Surfing the waves before they break with control

Each lesson will have a total duration of around four hours including the time needed to arrive on the best spot of the day and return to the center.

Both the start time of the lesson and the place where the lesson will be held will be decided on the basis of the conditions of the day (tide, direction of the swell, wind direction) with the aim of being on the best spot of the day and in the best moment.

All the necessary equipment is included during the lesson, as well as transport and legal insurance and the groups are of a maximum of eight students per instructor in accordance with the Canary legislation.

Location

This surf camp will be held in Fuerteventura, Spain. The beauty of its spots, like Lobos or the lagoons of Cotillo, the endless golden beaches, crystal clear water, and the wind island make this magical place perfect for sport lovers which every year come to the island from all over the world.

Fuerteventura is full of nice places to surf, from the coast calm lagoons of Cotillo, passing Flag Beach. Plus the various citizens of Corralejo often enjoy the bay of Waikiki.

Fuerteventura is Europe’s surfing equivalent to Hawaii, not because all the waves and locals are massive, but because it is an island paradise with surf suited to all levels, volcanoes that grow out of the ocean, and a culturally rich and diverse population. There are over 150 beaches to choose from on the island with waves for surfers of all abilities.

The island lies 90 kilometers off the African coast meaning that it is warm all year round, which, combined with its desert-like scenery, gives it quite an exotic vibe. Fuerteventura is a year-round surf destination.

The northern tip of Fuerteventura around Corralejo, just across from Lanzarote, is the main surfing area on the island, with long sandy beaches and reef breaks on the western, northern and eastern shores.

There are more than 50 surf spots within a distance of 25 kilometers, catering for all levels, from easy beach breaks for beginners up to long walls for maneuvers and tricks to solid tube riding and big wave action.
