The Humpback Turtle has been the place for like minded travelers on the Pacific Coast since 2011, when the first bungalow was born. They offer private rooms, dorm beds, as well as a covered camp site with lockers in a rustic yet elegant design. Everything has been made with natural materials from the region, with palm thatch roofs, tropical hardwood floors, and cane and bamboo walls.

During this surf camp, you will be taken to Juná Beach, Bananal, and Pico de Loro.

    Geoff known as el Mono is an Australian surfer who has been living on and off the Pacific Coast over the past three years. Teaching surfing and taking people on trips, el Mono will be making sure your trip is amazing from start to finish.

    Tyler is the owner operator at the first established hostel on the coast. With his positive vibes, he has created a great environment with the village.Ty will be your host at the Humpback Turtle and will help coordinating with Geoff and the local captains to ensure your stay will be unforgettable.

This surf camp will take place at The Humpback Turtle, Colombia. The Humpback Turtle is the first and only hostel on Playa Almejal. It is located right on the beach, with a vibey bar and delicious restaurant to visit. Nestled amidst lush gardens and between 2 streams, The Humpback Turtle is your spot from which to explore the beauty of Choco and the magic of the Pacific Coast.

You will be served daily meals with the freshest of fresh produce on this surf camp. Whether the food is caught fresh from the ocean or picked from The Humpback Turtle's own tropical fruit trees, they will make sure you experience a culinary feast of color and flavor that will make you come back for more.

At The Humpback Turtle, the restaurant serves fresh fish daily and delicious flavors come from their extensive organic farm. They also have a vibey beach bar where you can have a cold beer or fruit juice while watching the waves crash.

Arrival by ferry / boat

You can take a cargo boat from Buenaventura to Bahia Solano, which leaves every Tuesday from Buenaventura, and every Saturday back from Bahia Solano to Buenaventura. It will take about 24 hours and cost 150,000 COP. The boat leaves from the Bodega de Renacer in El Piñol area in Buenaventura.

You may also take a boat from Nuqui. The boat leaves on Mondays and Fridays from Nuqui to El Valle, where The Humpback Turtle is located. The boats will leave around 7 a.m. and cost 70,000 per person.
