  • Allan

Allan is the team motivator with enough energy for everyone and more to spare for you! Allan has graced lots of countries on his travels including; Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Mexico, and now Tofino. Allan also happens to be the shop mechanic and that has proven to be very useful as surf vehicles can be as unreliable as Tofino weather, lucky they've got Allan to depend on.

The district of Tofino is home to about 1,800 full time residents and lies on the west coast of Vancouver Island, within the province of British Columbia, Canada. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound. The area was named Tofino in 1792 after the Spanish cartographer Vincente Tofino. "Our instructor was so excited to teach us how to surf, it was infectious. He had such a great attitude and passion for what he does for a living and that is very rare on life. Cannot wait to try it again the next time I am back in town."

"Came on a school trip with 25 Canadian and 25 German students and almost all of us had never surfed before. The instructors were so nice and they really helped you get the hang of it! I can't wait to go back and it was the highlight on my German partners trip! Thank you all for an amazing experience."

"Even the best words, especially mine, like photos, cannot truly do justice to any experience. However, for me, the 5-day All-inclusive Fit to rip Surf Sister Camp hosted by the amazing Drew at Tofino Travel Co was out of this world! I could not have enjoyed myself more, the surf and the Surf Sisters made the experience safe and everyone was so encouraging. The Fit-To-RIP classes really prepared us to get the most out of every precious day. Everyone, especially Drew, was so enthusiastic."

"There is such a great vibe in Tofino and Drew hooks you up to it immediately (the coolest places to go, where to go to get anything you may need, the history, ecology, knowledge of the peoples of the land, he is a total support in every way). When you talk to Drew you get a full picture; you appreciate that Tofino is really trying to develop tourism in a sustainable and ecological way whilst retaining the vibe, deep history, and culture."

"I took a chance, as I was laid off last year. Although spending money seemed like a luxury, the time was right, and the course turned out to be one of the best times of my life. I would advise anyone thinking of signing up to ‘to seize the day’. Life is too short not to attempt to Surf at least once. Go for it!"

"August 2015, one of the most memorable vacations of my life. From the water, the amazing weather and the magical warmth that remains after. From my first encounter with Drew, hanging around with Surf Sisters and Nicole, there was always a good laugh and fun conversation. The knowledge and passion that everyone displays give me goosebumps even now."

"After 5 days, I felt confident on my board, confident about a larger trip I am undertaking and have every tool needed to continue learning. The mornings with Nicole, were the perfect set up for the day, the lessons covered questions I never thought to ask and the afternoons full of learning and fun adventures. Even months later, there is that support and community to go back to should you have any doubts."

"There was not a moment that I did not feel at home, completely relaxed and never bored. The moment it came to having to leave, I sat waiting for the bus, planning how I could come back as soon as possible."

"I had an amazing time with Tofino Travel Co last summer. I visited for a 5 days surf camp and my surf instructor Allan was very patient, and thanks to him and Drew I managed to have fun on the waves even though I was a bit anxious to start with! After a relaxing morning surf session, I enjoyed the hikes Drew took us on to explore the breathtakingly beautiful Pacific Rim National Park. I was lucky enough to go whale watching and see orcas…that will be a lifetime memory! Overall, I felt warmly welcomed, which is so valuable when visiting a foreign country. Thank you so much for this wonderful holiday! I really wish to come back to Tofino someday."

"I'd highly recommend this surfing school and store. The instructor (Liam) was so patient with all of us but was especially great with my 12 year old son. The rest of the staff were to notch too and made the whole experience really easy and relaxed even though it was our first time surfing. Thanks, we can't wait to come back!"

"We went for a lesson on the long weekend and it was a blast. The teachers were knowledgable, encouraging, helpful, enthusiastic, and passionate about surfing. We had a small group of four and two teachers so we received lots of helpful feedback. I'd definitely use Pacific Surf School again"

"The staff at Pacific Surf Co store and surf rental were all friendly and pleasant as well as knowledgable. They made sure we got the most from our money and our level of experience. Liam and Adam were our instructors. They were very friendly and also stressed safety. Clearly they love their jobs and brought a lot of experience to their lesson. We learned so much from them before we got in the water, we were well prepared. The student to instructor ratio was great and they gave us many pointers throughout the rest of the lesson and felt confident enough to go out on our own the next day and still be safe! An excellent experience and highly recommend it for anyone!"
