Oyambre Surf School is fortunate to say that their surf house is located in a unique and privileged place on the northern coast of Spain, in the heart of Oyambre Natural Park, with superb views of the beach and the Ria Oyambre and the Picos de Europa, which will leave you speechless.

It is located in the Ceceño neighborhood in the village of El Tejo, just 500 meters from the beach and their surf school facilities, and between the villages of Comillas (3 kilometers away) and San Vicente de la Barquera (4 kilometers away).

This wonderful and comfortable guesthouse is equipped with amazing facilities. The place has four ensuite rooms, each with the capacity for two to six people. The rooms are spacious, have sea views, private bathrooms and sinks, toilets and showers, and are fully equipped with comfortable beds, wardrobes, chairs, tables, TV, mirrors, etc.

They also have a bar where you can have your drinks with the best views. The other facilities are dining room and common room, all with amazing sea views, patio and garden to the north and south, chill-out, hammocks, free Wi-Fi, and private parking.

Program

Oyambre Surf School's offerings include authentic surfing courses taught by the best professionals for beginners or advanced in their surf school, including surfing material during all your holidays so you can keep surfing.

Their surf camp is also complemented with other activities and sports such as surfing lectures, stretching, beach volleyball, long skate, yoga, Pilates, surf films, barbecues, surprises, and a night out for those who want one.

Surf school

Surfing a wave is a unique sensation that cannot be explained in words. It fills you with energy and you just feel good. At this school, Oyambre Surf will teach you everything you need to know about surfing and the ocean.

They teach introductory and advanced classes in small groups. Classes last two hours and consist of a small bit of theory followed by practical learning in the sea where you will be continuously accompanied in the water by the instructors who will help you learn and keep you safe.

The instructors are experienced surfers. As instructors certified by the Cantabrian Surfing Federation and as Spanish Lifesaving and first aid graduates, they know the best place to be to catch the best waves.

Instructors

Rubén Gutiérrez Rodríguez

Oyambre Surf was born from the dreams of this surfer and waterman. Ruben has surfed, traveled, and worked for many years. He is a lover of the sea and spends as much time as he can surfing or doing other sports like kite surfing, spearfishing, and skating. Moreover, Ruben has Technical Sports Surfing. T.D.1, National Surf Instructor T.D.2, Certification of Lifesaving and First Aid. He is also an expert in massage and can speak Spanish and English.

Juan Aparicio Cabezas

Juan is a surfer with heart. He lives and enjoys every day at the beach and transmits his passion to his students in each class. He started surfing as a child on the beaches of Malaga and today continues with the same enthusiasm. His passions include surfing and being in the mountains. Juan has Technical Sports Surfing. T.D.1, National Surf Instructor T.D.2, ISA Surf Instructor, and has a diploma in marketing and communication. He also can speak Spanish and English.

Location

Oyambre Surf is located in the heart of the natural park, on the west coast of the Community of Cantabria, one of the most beautiful and less crowded on the north coast of Spain.

Oyambre is 55 kilometers from Santander, 40 kilometers from the Picos de Europa, 3 kilometers from Comillas, and 5 kilometers from San Vicente de la Barquera. Oyambre Surf School is 20 meters from the beach, opposite the beach car park and next to the entrance of Oyambre Beach Campsite.

Oyambre Natural Park

Oyambre Natural Park is a paradise and an oasis in northern Spain. The location is quiet, semi-virgin, and away from the crowds of cities and crowded tourist towns.

It’s a place to live in direct contact with nature. It's a paradise where you can surf in addition to sightseeing, enjoying nature, gastronomy, other sports, relaxing and exploring nearby villages.

Oyambre was declared a natural park in 1988 for its great ecological value, beauty, and condition. There are a variety of fauna and flora, both terrestrial and marine ecosystems and different dunes, beaches, marshes, cliffs, and forests.

Waves

From Oyambre Surf School's privileged position, they always look for the best waves depending on the sea conditions, weather, and level of their students. They usually surf on the beaches of Oyambre and San Vicente de la Barquera (Merón), but don’t discount surprise trips to other lesser known surf spots.

Both beaches are very exposed to waves and have a small difference in orientations that ensures waves all year. If there are no waves here, there won’t be any waves on any beach in northern Spain or Europe.
