The Ocean Shelter is located just a few minutes north of Hossegor and is surrounded by the beautiful "Landes" forest & endless sand beaches. The site is an ideal natural base camp for anyone who wants to explore the natural surroundings or simply just escape the urban environment and relax. This camp is ideal for all nature and sports enthusiasts who like the calm and simplicity and make new friends whilst sharing the large Ocean Shelter space and amenities!
There is plenty to choose from at the Ocean Shelter. There are private wood houses for larger groups and families on one side of the property and also less traditional camping/glamping spaces such as the tipis, huts, and retro caravans, as well as a few traditional rooms in the main guest house. To reduce budgets, you can also stay in shared rooms, for more information, please send ocean Shelter an inquiry.
The Ocean Shelter has three accommodation possibilities:
Shared spaces are the fence-secured heated saltwater pool and spa area, as well as the playground with two soccer goals, a trampoline, and swing sets.
This space is exclusively for group bookings. The guest house with both inside and outside kitchens and several bathrooms can easily host up to 25 to 30 people. Sleeping rooms are mostly in the camping and glamping facilities such as the tipis, retro caravans, and wooden huts, as well as some traditional rooms.
At times, the entire Ocean Shelter is privatized for groups of up to 50 people, for which the three private houses are added. The event room next to the guest house is the ideal space for much larger groups. Experience the nostalgic feel of traditional camping close to the forest and empty and endless sandy beaches.
Sleep whilst listening to the sound of the waves or wind in the pine trees, wake up with the birds and spend good times in the garden around the pool and spa house or at the guest house area.
At the back of the Ocean Shelter garden are two identical and independent wood houses. Each of the houses can host up to eight guests. On the ground floor is a fully equipped kitchen, the bathroom, living room with a couch, and a private garden view, as well as two small bedrooms with two single beds each that can easily be combined to large beds. Upstairs, next to the TV lounge, is the large dorm-style bedroom with four beds.
The main house is the largest house at Ocean Shelter and can welcome up to 14 guests. On the ground floor is a very large and well-equipped kitchen and a lounge-style living room with a bar and pool table and a conservatory. Downstairs, are also three large bedrooms for 2x3 and 1x2 guests, a large bathroom, and a separate toilet. On the upper floor is another smaller bathroom with a toilet and three larger bedrooms for 3x2 guests. The house is only available during the summer season.
Ideal arrival and departure days are Saturdays since there are no activities planned for that day. For this surf camp, daily 1.5 hours of surf lessons will be held over six days. Hours will be scheduled according to ideal surf, tidal, and weather conditions. If needed, there is also childcare at the Ocean Shelter during the activities.
This option is designed for those who want to learn the French language and to communicate quickly in real-life situations. The scheduling of the daily language lessons will depend on when the surf lessons are being held so none is being left behind. Professional French courses with the Fast Track French and Atlantique Language Courses team and the possibility to enroll through online courses before and after your stay. The owner Francoise has been teaching French for over 18 years.
