The accommodation will be at Olho Branco Eco-Farm in Portugal. You will live on an organic farm and nourish yourself with organic and homemade food. You will stay in a double or single room either in the cozy, refurbished farmhouse, in the newly built summer house, or in an all-naturally-built cabin, set on an organic farm run by a loving Portuguese-Czech family.

You will share their lifestyle of authentically living in and from nature around. You will have the experience of picking fresh figs and walnuts from the trees, harvest carrots, potatoes, and herbs, make your own herbal creams, pick eggs from the chickens, and enjoy family-style dinners at the big table under the tree. You will also enjoy the company of Samba, the friendly dog, and the family's two cute daughters playing around.

It will be a bit like renting a house with friends. You will share the kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom. All of the household chores and duties around the house will also be shared among you.

Program

Daily yoga sessions - Accessible and non-dogmatic!

There will be morning and evening yoga sessions. Morning sessions last from 90 minutes to three hours and are guided by Jana, offering various tools from the fields of asana, pranayama, and meditation. Your curiosity for deeper transformational work might be ignited!

Evening sessions can be from 90 minutes to two hours and they are usually Yin or Restorative, oriented to relax the body and mind. Yoga sessions take place in a beautiful wooden-floored room or outside on the new yoga deck nestled in nature.

Guided meditations in beautiful spots in nature - Creative and simple!

On some mornings, these sessions take place at the farm. For example; by the pond or along the flowing river when the sun rises. On other days, Jana shows you her favorite spots along the cliffs, in the woods, or at secluded beaches to dive into meditation in a way that has never felt easier. Nature guides you into your inner landscapes unwaveringly.

Experience meditative states in new forms of moving, walking, and sensing. As you enter into deeper intimacy with yourself, you might encounter new ideas on your soul's purpose.

Surfing and ocean guiding - Mind-blowing facts about the ocean and a deeper understanding of your own nature!

You get to enjoy an experience that goes beyond a normal surfing course. During the yoga and surfing week, you will have two days of surfing classes (beginners or intermediate) with the best-educated surf instructors in the area. Your personal ocean guide, Max, will be of additional support for all of your questions and will guide you through one of the highlights of an Ocean and Yoga retreat.

You will go through a two hour ocean guiding session during which you will observe, feel, and experience the ocean at a level that is usually reserved for surfers, fishermen, and divers.

Sound journey - Hang out in the world of sound and relax profoundly!

This has become a popular feature of every Ocean and Yoga retreat. You will activate your bodies and willingness to hear and receive with some easy asana and breath work. Then, the music begins with the wonderful musicians from the area playing different instruments from the Amazon, Tibet, and India, such as gongs, didgeridoos, drums, and strings.

You may sit and meditate or lie down in a relaxed position and enjoy your journey through your inner landscape. Music can be the language of the soul. This is an evening of conscious dream time, self exploration, and relaxation.

Herbal workshop - Informative and fun!

This one to three hour workshop is guided by the retreat's lovely host, Eva. Follow her into the world of herbs and get to know all the ambrosian plants that grow on the property and try how they taste as teas or (during the longer workshops) make your own herbal cream, natural mosquito repellent, or ointments and balms. If you're really into it, Eva has a huge array of books that you may borrow to study more if you wish to do so.

Schedule

During the retreat, your schedule will range from typical yoga days or typical surfing days. Surf days start with early morning meditation and pranayama to get you ready for an active and fun day in the water. You learn how to read the ocean and be in close connection with nature. The evening yoga nourishes and relaxes your body.

Surf days are followed by yoga days, starting with a full workshop of asana, pranayama, and clear and guided meditations. Even if you are a beginner, you won't be lost here. Movements are explained in detail and the meditations will feel like this is all you ever wanted. If you practice yoga already, you will receive further tools to deepen your practice.

After a healthy, homemade brunch, you have time to relax and to go for walks or read in the hammock, or go surfing again. In the late afternoon, you will get together again for the ocean guiding by the cliffs, Yin yoga, or the herbal workshop to learn about the local plants and organic gardening. After a full day you will be all over the homemade, organic dinner. Evening specials include a sound journey and campfire.

Jana Toepfer
Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Anusara Yoga)
Jana is originally from the north coast of Germany and has lived and studied yoga in bustling places such as Berlin and LA. Like so many others, the practice of yoga has turned her life upside down and has brought truth, clarity, and acceptance. When you come to Jana's classes, you will feel a very warm and welcoming atmosphere in the room. It is her intention to give everyone space to explore sensations of body and mind and filling up with joy.
Max
Everyone calls Max the "yoga foodie" because he just knows exactly what a yogi craves during a yoga retreat. And as a passionate surfer, he knows what you need before heading out into the waves. During the yoga and surf retreats, Max will not only make sure that you get the most nutritious breakfast / brunch that you can wish for, but he will also be your ocean guide during the surf course and beyond, sharing his never-ending knowledge about and passion for the ocean.

Food

The price of the package includes daily fresh, organic breakfast or brunch and homemade dinner as well as the choice to take a lunch bag for the day. Any of your dietary needs may be accommodated. Meals are prepared with fresh local ingredients, most of them harvested from the farm directly.

Fernando is the chef of the house and he is repeatedly being asked when he will finally open his own restaurant. Well, he is too busy for that since he also grows most the ingredients for your meals on the property. How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Faro Airport (FAO) or Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). From there, take a rental car or travel by public transport to Aljezur. It will take three hours to get there from Lisbon and one hour from Faro.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
