Nosara Paddlesurf give you the confidence to both realize your dream and make you a more efficient and progressive paddle surfer. A five minute walk to the beach, Nosara Paddlesurf's SUP camp home is nestled in the heart of Playa Guiones and offers that boutique resort-style feel. Nestled in the jungle, they highlight outdoor living with their pool, outdoor rancho, and plenty of lounging space. Each room is fully furnished with two queen beds, air conditioner, and Wi-Fi. Space is limited and booking in advance is strongly encouraged.

The approach

High-level sport-specific coaching should not be reserved only for professional athletes. By breaking down SUP surfing into specific learnable skills, SUP enthusiasts and athletes will be better positioned to achieve their paddle surfing dreams. Nosara Paddlesurf combine time on the water, video feedback, individualized attention and theory lessons to breakdown your SUP surfing, and teach the necessary skills to make you better. Their SUP program will take the emerging SUP surfer through the progression of developing a powerful forward stroke, to pivot turns, and catching waves. For the more experienced and advanced paddle surfer, the experience will enhance your surfing, whether it be refining your stance and body position, learning to use your paddle to surf with more power in your turns, or to improve your SUP surf flow as you link together a series of maneuvers.

On the water assessment

Before you even arrive in Costa Rica, they gather information on your experience and goals to prepare for your SUP camp week. During your first session you will be safely orientated to the ocean and break. Each level SUP surfer is grouped together with a dedicated SUP coach for the week. On the water, your SUP coach will be by your side observing level-specific skills to best determine the flow of your week's coaching program. On occasion, groups are re-shuffled.

Back on land

Back at their SUP camp home, you will be welcomed with a much deserved and delicious freshly prepared lunch made with local ingredients; the meals are specifically designed to healthily fuel your performance throughout the week. After a little down time or midday bodywork session, you will regroup for video analysis followed by a relevant workshop or lesson.

Afternoon session

Armed with fresh SUP surfing insights, you will be excited to get back on the water, and put your newly developing skills to the test. This is the ideal time to focus on that one change and begin building muscle memory. Through this process, you will be better positioned to take your new knowledge back home and continue progressing.

Video feedback

Most people have never seen themselves on video during a sporting activity. Video analysis is one of the fundamental tools to make you a better SUP Surfer. For the Level 3 and 4 SUP surfer, video is critical to progress your skills to the next level. It also provides valuable insight to the emerging SUP surfer as they discuss position, timing and transitions. Soon after your feedback session, you will have the opportunity to make improvements and get back on the water.

Workshops and theory lessons

Nosara Paddlesurf host classroom sessions covering topics such as reading waves, surfing etiquette, paddle technique, board design, wave forecasting, and sport specific stretches. Maximizing your out-of-water time, they also cover the mechanics of more advanced maneuvers such as the bottom turn, cutback, and paddle usage.

Their private chef makes culturally-inspired meals accommodating numerous dietary needs. They source authentic local foods, fresh fish, organic ingredients, and an abundance of freshly squeezed juices that quench the greatest of thirsts. They will happily and skillfully accommodate restricted diets. To mix it up, they hit a couple of their favorite restaurants that will not disappoint. All daily meals (except for Wednesday's free day) are included in the price.

A 60-minute bodywork session is included. More than a massage, it’s a bodywork, holistic health-care, and therapy session. The goal is to get both your mind and body right, and safely recuperated to make the most out of your week.
