Gianni Fontanesi
Gianni and Federica are an Italian couple with the passion for the ocean, the surf, and nature. Federica has a background in fashion and Gianni in scuba diving. Separated between Milan and Genoa, they decided to change their lives and to start this new adventure together. Some of their greatest ideas come from sitting in front of the sea, and for them it was during their last Indo trip at Desert Point. That's why they chose the name Bagus, which means "Good" or "Beautiful" in Bahasa Indonesia; as a way to recall where everything started with their new life here on this beautiful island.

"Great place to stay at"
This surf camp is perfect for solo travellers. The staff is super nice, the hostel is clean and comfortable. Everyone there was friendly and social. The surf instructors were great. I couldn’t recommend it more

"Een absolute aanrader!! "
Federica en Gianni waren super vriendelijk, ontspannen, toegankelijk en deden hun uiterste best om dingen (zelfs last minute) te regelen. Met vragen kon je altijd bij 1 van hen terecht en kreeg je vlot antwoord.
Het surfhuis werd zo goed als dagelijks schoongemaakt. Het tijdstip van de surflessen werd (i.v.m. het getij) dagelijks gecommuniceerd.
De surflessen waren goed verzorgd en de surfinstructeurs waren zeer capabel en vriendelijk!
Bij de Beach Club van het surfstrand kun je heerlijke gezonde (goedkope) maaltijden krijgen voor na je surfsessie; en dat inclusief prachtig uitzicht en een heerlijk ontspannen sfeer.
Voor een geweldige surfervaring wil je zeker naar dit surf camp!!

"Große Empfehlung!!"
Ich habe mich super willkommen und sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Gianni und Federica waren beide sehr herzlich und standen bei Fragen immer zur Verfügung. Lage und Ausstattung der Unterkunft waren auch super und auch für Unternehmungen etc. konnte man immer auf die Hosts zugehen und deren Kontakte nutzen. Ich würde auf jeden Fall nochmal wiederkommen! 😊

"Amazing stay"
The owners are super friendly. They help you to find the best surf spots every day. If you need help with other thinks like renting a car or finding a nice restaurant they always help you. The organized dinner tasted amazing. The rooms have plenty of space. The hole stay is beautiful!

"Großartige Zeit mit tollen Menschen "
Es war eine wunderschöne Zeit mit vielen coolen und entspannten Menschen.
Wir habe zusammen gesurft, gekocht, gegrillt, die Insel erkundet und vieles mehr.
Man sollte sich nur mit dem Wetter halbwegs sicher sein oder in der Vorsaison Temperaturen unter 20 Grad in Kauf nehmen, was im Wasser oder beim wandern kein Problem ist.

Everything! The accommodations are beautiful and both Federica and Gianni make you feel at home every day.
The surfing instructors they had arranged for us were fantastic. I loved going surfing every chance I got it.
I do plan on one day returning for another surf camp.

"een geweldige ervaring!"
Ik ben voor eerst in mijn eentje gaan reizen. Dit vond ik erg spannend maar werd al gelijk op me gemak gesteld. Ze maakte altijd een praatje met me. Dat vond ik erg fijn.
Ze verzorgde mij goed en als ik een vraag had kon ik deze gerust stellen. Ik kreeg de informatie die ik nodig had.
Ze houden het huis netjes en schoon!
De sfeer in het huis was erg prettig!
het ontbijt was erg lekker en kreeg veel.
Alles werd goed voor mij geregeld, het ophalen van de airport naar hun huis. brachten mij naar de surf lessen en brachten mij netjes terug naar het airport, en lieten mij weten hoe laat mijn surflessen begonnen.
Met de auto is het goed te doen op weg. De wegen zijn nieuw.
ik had het zeker naar mijn zin! het is een prachtig land.
Ik vond het erg jammer dat het alweer zo snel voorbij was.
Het was zeker een mooie ervaring, mocht je naar de Azoren (Soa Miguel) willen en nieuwe mensen willen ontmoeten, boek vooral deze accommodatie! :)

I spent about a week in the house, Azores Bagus Surf Stay Explore, and I can say that I was pleasantly surprised at how the hosts, Federica & Gianni, managed to create a welcoming atmosphere in the house... dinners together, daytime surfing, evening conversations... it's impossible not to mention the guests... just super! It was just a nice feeling to be part of this beautiful family... good luck, guys, if you're reading this ;)

"Unforgettable 2 weeks @ Azores Bagus"
Gianni & Federica were the most fantastic hosts who went out of their way to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. This might sound straightforward, but is far from easy to achieve. Their secret seems to be sharing a genuinely fun, happy and relaxed atmosphere - something which one cannot learn...you either have the natural gift of hospitality or you don’t! They managed to strike the tricky balance of making sure everyone felt included without imposing a strict regime of overly-organised ‘compulsory fun’ for those who wanted greater independence. Being fluent in Portuguese, English and Italian a great asset that allows Gianni and Fede to make a ‘home from home’ for all (though inevitably English was the prevailing language). Whilst principally advertised as a surf hostel, Gianni and Fede have a deep knowledge of the Azores and were able to make endless recommendations for those who were not there to catch waves or just wanted a day of doing something different. They of course have the advantage of being located in Azores, which is a natural playground offering something for everyone. The house was always kept clean and tidy and the daily breakfasts consistently delicious. A large choice of sleeping arrangements allow something to suit everyone. Maximum occupancy of 10 (soon to be 12) guests ensures enough variety without the feeling you are living with strangers. Weekly BBQs (plus impromptu additional dinners at request) were provided in the garden and a special highlight.
