The guesthouse offers, in addition to the accommodation in a shared bunk system, individual rooms for two guests with their own bathroom, as well as small apartments with kitchens for groups, family, or friends. The kitchen is fully equipped and has at your disposal all the facilities, so you may find everything you need to prepare your meals. The Sea House is situated in the historical center of the beautiful fishing town of Matosinhos, only a minute's walk from both the surface metro station “Brito Capêlo,” as well as to the Matosinhos International Beach.
This station is linked with the airport Francisco Sá Carneiro, as well as the historic center of Oporto, twenty minutes away. At Oporto you can enjoy all the history and dynamics of a city that has, in recent years, consistently collected praise and awards as one of the most vibrant destinations in Europe.
Programma
This experience is designed for adults in private or small groups from total beginners to intermediate surfers. Your instructor, Joao, will pick you up at 9:00 a.m. at the lodge to start the activities day. The group will head to the best spot of the day, depending on ocean conditions, crowds, and group skills. Surfing begins with a short warmup and an explanation about all surf techniques: paddling, wave positioning, catching waves, standing on the board, and riding waves properly.
You can expect a clear exemplification of every step you will need to take in order to get the most out of it. Before getting into the water, you will also be provided with instructions about safety procedures and surf etiquette. During your experience, you will probably be able to stand on the board or feel some improvement, but above all, you will enjoy the amazing great energy provided by the ocean and the sun, as well as feel inspired by the moment.
The group will be dropped by the lodge around 12:30 p.m. Afterwards, you may want to go eat, have some rest, sunbathe at the local beach (300 meters far from the lodge), or just grab the metro (50 meters far from the lodge) and head to Porto city center, for some sightseeing and shopping. On your arrival, you will be invited to join different experiences that mainly take place during the afternoon, and you can sign up to join.

João Ferreira Gomes
João is a local surfer from Porto with 30 years of experience surfing. He is a traveled surfer, former international competitor, currently running his own surf coaching project. He is a certified surf coach by the Portuguese Surfing Federation with teaching experience since 1998. Been coaching local surfers and train foreigners how to start or improve their surf skills. He is also a “World Surf League” approved surf guide, and organize surf trips all over the world. Besides that, he surfs every day ;)
Locatie
The guesthouse is less than five minutes' walking distance from the beach and one minute from the metro station Brito Capelo to get to the Porto city center in 20 minutes. It is surrounded by the best fish restaurants, and perfect for solo travelers, couples, or groups. It is located within easy access from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), about six kilometers away by metro or car.
