Yoga and surfing go well together. Both disciplines tap into a natural flow. In yoga, you learn not to force any pose, but to find the depth of the pose in the moment. In surfing, you learn that you can’t force a wave. Instead, you practice being fully in the moment so you can catch a wave.
There are a few benefits yoga brings to surfers: it gives you paddle power (high plank to low plank), breath control, brain to body coordination, and injury prevention.
Yoga
The yoga that you will practice in the mornings or afternoons is entirely designed to stretch and strengthen your body for the surfing. It is one hour of pure relaxation to start or finish the day with. Chicks on Waves believes yoga will improve your surfing in various ways.
Surf
Chicks on Waves offers personal surf coaching to small groups for quick learning. The coaches are passionate surfers with great experience and knowledge of the region and types of waves. They will also be your guide for the journey and take you around for a tour so you can explore the area.
Depending on the waves and tides, they will adapt your daily schedule to the best conditions that day. You will either practice yoga in the early mornings or in the late afternoon. After a nourishing breakfast (think oat meals, fruit juices, fresh bread and muesli, eggs, and daily specials), you will be picked up by their surf coaches to bring you to the best surf spot!
You will have 3 hours surf lessons (1 long or 2 short sessions) per day. There is plenty of time to chill out on the beach in between the surf sessions.
