Join Nina Vukas Yoga for a week of yoga and surfing in Sri Lanka, one of the most beautiful countries in Asia, with unspoiled and wild sand beaches, gentle and perfect waves, tea plantations, hilltop Buddhist monasteries, and a very rich history and culture. Yoga classes are designed to heal and integrate your body, mind, and soul, as well as prepare you for your surf lesson and the day ahead. Classes are open for all levels, as modifications and variations are always given.
During this retreat, you will be staying in a beautiful new guesthouse, located right on the beach. The accommodation is simple but clean with big, comfortable beds, and large en-suite rooms with garden or ocean view balcony. There are two different room options you can choose from, but this is a small property. Please book on time to get your preferred room.
In this retreat, you will enjoy daily fluid Vinyasa classes with meditation, pranayama, mindfully sequenced asanas, mudras, and philosophy sessions. You will practice in a beautiful covered terrace surrounded by palm trees and overlooking the ocean. Yoga and surfing go really well together; there is nothing better to prepare you for a surf session or to recuperate your body after surfing than yoga.
The local surf school will provide six surf lessons during this retreat. If you have never surfed before, prepare for some fun and excitement once you step on the surf board for the first time! If you have already learned how to take off on white water, prepare to paddle out and catch your first green wave. If you are an intermediate level surfer and need some tips, the surf school also have you covered. If you just need a board, just let them know.
Meddawatta is a long beach break, still much less known and busier than some other surf breaks in the area. With its sandy beach entry and no reef or rocks around, it's perfect for beginners, but caters for all levels, with peeling left and rights holding up to four feet.

Nina Vukas is an international Vinyasa yoga teacher, blogger, teacher trainer, and a retreat leader with over a decade of teaching experience. Nina teaches integral Vinyasa yoga, a method based on the ancient yoga philosophy, traditional Tantric, and Hatha yoga teachings as well as the modern knowledge of anatomy and movement biomechanics. She follows the traditional understanding of Vinyasa Krama, a system of progressions chosen to serve the gentle unfolding and integration of the body or mind.

Daily breakfast is the only meal included in the price. You can choose your lunches and dinners in local restaurants, depending on your budget and preference.
Sri Lanka is such a stunning country and there is much to see. Depending on how much time you have before or after the retreat and your interests, Nina Vukas Yoga can give you some individual tips on where to go and what to see.
While on the retreat with yoga, surf, beach, and chill, your day will be quite full, but there will still be time to go and explore nearby. You can go whale watching in the nearby Mirissa, check out famous local stilt fishermen, go to the inland in the nearby national park, or explore Matara where you can see Star Fort and visit a Buddhist temple on a small island, which you can get to by crossing a famous pedestrian bridge.
Please book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Qatar and FlyDubai have good deals with flights from Europe.
From the airport, take a taxi or tuk tuk to Colombo Fort, the main train station. From there, take a train to Matara. It takes about three to four hours on train, but the train takes a very scenic route down the coast, so the time flies quickly. From Matara train station, you can take a tuk tuk to the retreat. You will be sent more information about this via email when you book.
