Peniche area is blessed by waves any time of the year and due to its magical coast, so there are conditions for surfing at any level almost any given day. Neptuno Surfcenter's teachers licensed by international and Portuguese federation of surfing, will take care of you in any of the aspects of surfing. Choosing the right location and equipment for every client is their daily deal, and your learning, improvement, safety, and tons of fun, is their goal.
Neptuno Surfcenter lies in the south of Peniche, a nice modern resort with a wide choice of quality accommodations. Every accommodation has private bathrooms and some has kitchen and other facilities. The accommodations are bright, clean, and extremely comfortable. Hotel rooms, wooden bungalows, or studios, everything is made to let you feel like at home.
Peniche is not a crazy sand barrels machine only, to the south of supertubos, in the village of Consolacao, a long righthand rocky point and a sandy left with a beginner friendly corner, create the perfect playground for the surf center. To the north of Peniche, a long scalloped bay gives to surfers plenty of possibilities in the various wind-waves combo swells.
At the end to the bay, another freak of nature, Baleal island. A small island connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy street, creates another handful of spot to keep the tourists and surf community well fed!
This lively little town is the southernmost spot of the Peniche area and hosts a huge amount of waves in its long beautiful sandy beach. The wave here are good for any level since are mellower than the others. Nearby schools and tourists in summer, but definitely a wave worth to be checked.
This beach is another swell magnet. The wave is usually messed up by wind and swell, so a good option in those small days or south to southwest wind. The lefts are usually long with steep walls of good quality.
Towards Peniche, the bay bends a bit and receive less swell. This is the place to go in bigger western or south swell. Nice banks and cool crowds.
To the south side of the Baleal Island, good sheltered spot with predominant northern swell, schools, long boarders, and nice vibes. Can be a really good wave to short board to when the conditions are on.
The nice and quiet village of Consolacao, south of Peniche, is home of two point breaks. The left starts on rocks but ends in sand, is a powerful fast wave that can only work once in a while, south or west swells but east or no wind is the key. The right is a scenic long point break that can be a fat longboard wave but can be a serious big wave spot, as works even on the biggest swell. Watch out, the wave packs lots of water and the entry and exit is are tricky.
The last corner of the bay and you are almost in Peniche as the beach is flanked by city walls. Average wave only to check on huge stormy conditions.
In the center beach town of Baleal, this reef can be defined as a really long and maneuverable left-hander. There’s a right fickle, but sometimes really good, 300 meters to the north. The wave can be mellow in small conditions or fat in high tide, but totally amazing with some size and mid tide. Watch out for the urchin covered rocks at low tide. Southwest to east is offshore.
Middle of the Baleal Bay, gets the most of the swell around compared to the other westerly spots. The wave packs some power and it is offshore with southeast to northeast wind. When the conditions are on, it's a really quality wave with barrels too.
To the south of Peniche, the waves change swell and wind exposure as well as behavior, so this powerful edgy right is much stronger and faster than the northern side waves. The long harbor jetty cooperate to give shelter from swell and wind, plus gives sandbanks a very good shape. In the good days when supertubos is too scary to paddle out, this is the place to get some good barrels. Localized and advanced surfers only
This is the undisputed big wave spot of the area, rocky bottom and heavy wave for the brave and skilled only. Into the bay a good a-frame wave on rocks will appear on the right wind and swell combo. These days, long performance walls can be seen.
In the north coast of Peniche following a dirt road, you will find this beautiful white sandy beach that in a good day can serve up some incredible tubular waves. Swell magnet to be checked in small days and no north wind, mid tide the best!
500 meters south of Consolacao, a spot surfed mainly by locals. Give them respect, and you can join that good right-hand reef wave that can be surfed from mid tide up. A good wave, ideal for carvings.
The queen of the area, best beach break of Portugal and probably Europe. Often referred as the European pipeline, this wave is fast, powerful, and always barreling. It can be the dream wave of your life, but be prepared to get some serious pounding wiith the predominant north and northwest wind offshore. Advanced surfers only and pros over six feet.
Neptuno Surfcenter lies in the south of Peniche, in a quiet and secluded area in the village of Consolacao. Peniche, once an island,in the centuries has been forged as a peninsula by the ocean currents and sand. Well known for being a truly fishermen village where eating good sardinhas and drinking good wines is not an issue, Peniche is a gem dropped in the Atlantic Ocean, and the tour to Cabo Carvoeiro lighthouse is well worth the drive or walk.
Surrounded by ancient walls, the town has other interesting sites like the old fortress near the harbor, recovered as a museum or beautiful churches decorated with azulejos. Surf wise, Peniche is nowadays motherland of some of the best surf in the world. To the south of the city, Supertubos beach hosts every year the Rip Curl pro Portugal, a top ranked event of the world of surf league.

"I stayed for one week at the Neptuno Surfcenter. A lot of pluses; all the people in the hotel are very kind and all take good care of you. Very personal approach by Ricardo the host and the surf instructor Ricardo. They plan everything according to your wish, energy and/or mood. They were great. Ricardo is a very professional surf instructor and thanks to him, as a beginner, I was able to stand up on the board and even reach the beach on the first day! There are a lot of beautiful beaches in the area and as I was told (and Ricardo showed me) there is always a beach with waves that's perfect for your level. The hotel is kept very clean and tidy. Peniche and the bigger area and villages around are lovely. Very beautiful nature. There is a laid back feeling and I met a lot of very kind Portuguese people. The only minus for me was that I visited the place in May and it was very quiet in the area around the hotel. But if you have your own transport there are very lovely and more lively places nearby. I can definitely recommend this place!"
