Consisting of just eleven rooms, Mule Malu is a perfect location for those who are seeking a quiet and relaxing break in the island of the gods. Each room is slightly different from the others but they all feature outdoor bathrooms, open air showers and a cozy private terrace.

High quality mattresses, pillows and sheets guarantee a peaceful sleep, and a thick insulation layer in the walls and roof help to keep the room temperature cool, without needing to rely on the air conditioning.

Please note that the King Room is the only kind of room that can accommodate one extra person (either adults, youth, kids or children), in a max of three guests. Kindly note that third person will sleep in a sofa bed. Sofa bed is not suggested for adults.

Cafe

Enjoy a beautiful selection of healthy and energizing food while sipping coffee (they do have a fantastic Italian coffee machine) tea or one of the juices and smoothies. Mule Malu is a no plastic resort so they do not offer any liquid in plastic bottles. They do provide free water flow 24/7 and a bottle of fresh water in your room at your arrival. There is also a small garden where some of the vegetables are grown. The cafe is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Water treatment

All the water is extracted from the ground and then filtered using a Reverse Osmosis system. Then, they use a BioSeptic wastewater treatment system to safely process all household wastewater and recycle it as clear odorless water before sending it back to the ground. Mule Malu take water from the island and give it back cleaned.

Solar water heating

Mule Malu have solar panels fitted to the roof to heat the water. Solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system that reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

Thermal insulation

The walls and the roof of your room are insulated with a layer of Rockwool that improves thermal comfort since the room will stay at more even temperatures. Rockwool is also breathable, therefore it allows moisture to travel across them wall which can help dissipate damp.

Plastic-free

Mule Malu is an (almost) plastic-free property. They do not provide water nor any kind of soft drink in plastic bottles. They use bamboo straws, biodegradable plastic bags and try to limit the use of single use plastic to the minimum.

Location

Hidden near the peaceful Bingin cliff tops, Mule Malu is only 35 minutes from Denpasar airport, less than 10 minutes to Uluwatu, a few minutes to Bingin, Dreamland and Padang Padang beaches. Mule Malu is centrally located in the heart of the Bukit Peninsula (south of Bali), in the Uluwatu area: a short walk from Bingin beach and a short drive to the nearby beaches. It's the ideal location for surfers as well as a perfect base to explore the beauty of the Bukit Peninsula.

Bingin beach

Bingin beach is a beautiful white-sandy strip which lays at the bottom of the Bingin cliffs. It is surrounded by a multitude of surfer cafes, beach huts and shady warungs that offer food, drinks and shelter from the sun. o access the beach from Mule Malu it's just a five-minute walk to the cliff top (or 30 seconds scooter ride to Bingin carpark) and another five minutes to walk your way down through the famous steps (around 150) and swirly alleyways.

The scenery that reveals step by step upon walking down to the beach is superb: a stunning view over the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean and its beautiful world-class waves. Right in front of the beach is "Bingin surf break", one of the most demanded waves in Bali and more likely in the world.

Don't confuse it with the wave that breaks on the left side, that's "Impossibles", another beautiful and some-times possible wave. At low tide, two secluded paths appear between rocks, reefs and small beaches that lead respectively to Dreamland beach to the right and Padang Padang beach to the left. (Be aware of the tide changes here as the paths can quickly disappear.)
