"The Perfect Escape from NYC"

This was a great escape from the winter in NYC. Yoga instructors, Dagmar and Silvia have organized everything perfectly with the hotel owner, surf instructor, and breakfast spot. They also made sure to connect us with other people on the retreat so we could hangout outside classes. I was very fortunate to have private surf lessons with Mauricio and learned pretty quickly on how to surf. He is very patient and pays very closed attention to his students. 30 min hike to and from the surfing spot was exhausting but great to see the beautiful beaches in Montezuma. Yoga was great - perfect balance of a work out and meditation. Classes were not "hippie" or cheesy were I really appreciate. Breakfast was delicious and healthy. You can hangout on the hammocks during the day since it's at another hotel. I stayed in the house with shared bathroom. Overall it was good but could use some upgrades. Hotel owner, Costas, is very nice and helpful. My favorite thing about the housing and yoga studio is that you can hear the waves all day. Very special location indeed. Montezuma is a wonderful and small beach team with lots of activities to do on your free time. I would come back here in a heart beat!

"Magical week"

Montezuma is not exactly and easy place to get to - but it is so worth it. You’ll wake up to a view of the ocean, so yoga, go surfing, sit by a fire on the beach and meet incredible people.

"Excellent Retreat"

One of the best trips of my life. I went to the retreat alone and ended up meeting lots of other friendly and fun solo travelers that I had a great time with. The town is charming, the beach and water perfect, the surfing excellent and yoga superb. Can't say enough good things about this place and the people- a very special spot in Costa Rica.

"Life changing week in paradise!"

Everything about this trip was amazing, refreshing and welcoming. We not once came across someone who was not friendly and eager to help us. The locals in montezuma are some of the happiest and friendliest people I have ever seen. This is the perfect way to escape the hecticness of life and take a week to relax, explore, adventure and mentally reset. Montezuma is an isolated paradise where we immediately felt at home.

"Fantastic first surfing experience"

Surf instructor was excellent at helping each of us at our level. This was my very first time surfing and I caught at least 5 waves the very first day! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The rooms were very clean. Yoga classes were enjoyable and in a beautiful environment. Yoga instructors were warm and skilled. An easy place to visit and relax.

"Yoga and surf"

Montezuma is a beautiful location. My room was very simple but with seaview and quietness. It also had a safebox, which is great since I spent most of the time outside. Los Mangos's staff was also very nice and helpful. Silvia's classes were great, I loved her vinyasa sequences and I miss her classes already! As for surf, Mauricio was also a great instructor, very careful. Between yoga, surfing and walking to Playa Grande, every night I was very tired and slept beautifully accompanied by the sea's sounds. I'd repeat the experience if I could.

"A week in paradise "

I had the most amazing week staying in Montezuma. The village itself is very charming. The yoga classes were perfectly balanced, surf classes with Mauricio were delightful and breakfast was delicious. I couldn't have wished for anything more.

"Do this Yoga Retreat!!! You won't be disappointed!"

Very nice, pleasant , and clean place for yoga, with sound of ocean, and fresh air, and a cool yoga cat! :) Good schedule for yoga, great massage! Knowledgeable and friendly staff; good breakfast in a gorgeous place near the ocean; walking distance till downtown. So glad I signed up for that retreat!

"Tolle Yogawoche"

We stayed in the tree house which is approximately a 25 minutes walk away from the beach. We did not use a taxi and it was quite a hike but it was definitely worth it. The tree house is directly next to the jungle. Amazing architecture and awesome outdoor kitchen. Yoga was great but hard. We loved the breakfast with sea view. Dagmar her boyfriend Daniel were really nice and welcoming.

I did the yoga and surf package and absolutely loved it! I showed up alone, and meet so many amazing people while there. The vibe is super social, and the studio is amazing! The instructors there are fantastic giving many different options for styles and experience levels. Something that didn't cross my mind when I booked is a possible language issue, but the instructors seem to be doesn't in several languages each... English is the primary for classes (thankfully for me), but I heard them adjusting students in several different languages. The cuing is fantastic, and creative which is nice to keep things exciting. Classes are kept light and free, beginner and expert friendly.

The only thing that seemed to be missing was a common area. As a solo traveller, especially on my first night before having a chance to meet anybody, I was surprised that the studio emptied immediately after practice. Would be great if there was tea or something offered after practice. This was only an issue one night one as I met and made friends with many people by the next day.

As for the surf... Lessons were great!! Adlai good and beginner friendly (I'm a newb). Safe, and happy! Mauricio was amazing!

I highly recommend this studio, and retreat... And town! I was 50/50 between Montezuma and Santa Teresa... Went to S.T. for a day and was very happy that I chose Montezuma. Chill, social, mellow, delicious.

Montezuma retreat was my self-birthday gift. And what a gift the energy of Montezuma is supported and enhanced by the yoga practitioners, and the amazingly unique restaurants. I have the opportunity to practice with 3 different yoga instructors, and in each class, my spiritual practice and physically body were nurtured. The surfer instructor is excellent through his guidance, I achieved to experience for the first time the thrill of surfing. The hostess and personnel of Los Mangos lodge were all caring and cordial. I enjoyed very much the food, the services including a fantastic massage therapy, and the facilities of Casa Amor. I highly recommend this fantastic travel. My rating is 7 accommodation to my taste can be better.

I cannot say enough great things about Montezuma Yoga. Silvia was great with communication. We emailed several times before I arrived. Everything was at it should be when I got there. I did the wellness package and it far exceeded my expectations. Silvia set up the ziplining/canopy tour and the massage with Cordula. The massage was heavenly. Never had a better one. Ziplining was close by and so much fun. Michelle was one of my yoga teachers along with Silvia. They are both so kind and patient with their yogis. The private session with Silvia was very informative and I have used what I learned from her when I came back home.

No matter your yoga experience level you felt welcomed. The peace and love I felt while there helped me to quiet my mind. I didn't feel any negativity only good energy. The candlelight yoga was so calming. Sylvester the cat is a hoot. he would do his version of yoga with us. Also he would come lay on your yoga mat and watch you.

Listening to the ocean in the background and the peacefulness helped my meditation practice too. I can't wait to go back again next year! Thank you Montezuma Yoga for an amazing and wondrous experience.
