The combination of yoga and surfing is the best way to allow your body to get back in harmony with nature and to increase your strength and flexibility. If you want to take a break from the busy life of every day or to have an activity holiday in a beautiful place, this package could be perfect for you. Moka staff would like to share with you the relaxed atmosphere of their house and the powerful Portuguese sun. They will be happy to advise you and will always look for the best way to make you feel at home!
The house you will stay in is a Portuguese villa with a large garden and a terrace with an ocean view, and beyond the hills, you can find the Palácio Nacional de Mafra.
Moka can host a maximum of 20 people and offers double rooms, twin rooms, private rooms, and shared rooms (four to six people). All bathrooms are shared, except one ensuite double room on the first floor. Bed linen and towels are provided on your arrival.
In the big dining room, you can find a personal pantry and a kitchenette to prepare your lunch.
Yoga lessons and workshops take place in the 66 square meters Mongolian yurt, which can be also freely used as the wave skate ramp. In the large courtyard located in the middle of the house, you can chat with people, dine outdoors, and enjoy the open-air cinema on Portuguese warm evenings! But if you are searching for a quiet place, you’ll always find a spot in the lovely garden, swinging on the hammocks among the fruit trees or enjoying a relaxing bath in our open air Jacuzzi.
The daily timetable will be flexible, depending on the weather and ocean conditions to allow the guests to enjoy the best waves during the surfing lesson. At the surf school, you will find qualified instructors to guide you step by step and provide you with all of the necessary equipment. Then you can choose every day one of the two yoga lessons scheduled in the shala.
The one in the morning, at 08:00, will be more dynamic and energizing, based on a mix of Ashtanga, Vinyasa while the one in the afternoon, at 18:00, will be slower and based on a mix of Hatha, slow flow, and Restorative yoga with 30 minutes of yoga Nidra session included.
Yoga is well known for its infinite benefits. Whether they’re physical; improving strength, and flexibility, building a sweat, recovering from injuries, or more on a meditative level promoting calmness, stillness, and relaxation. Through the use of asana, you become more aware of your body, and by incorporating breathing you create a moving meditation that brings awareness of your spiritual self.
The strengths and flexibility that come from dedicated yoga practice will at one point translate into your everyday lives, changing the way you deal with problems and situations. By practicing yoga you’ll learn discipline and challenge yourself on and off the mat without taking anything too seriously. This 8-wall Mongolian yurt, with its simple and elegant circular space, will support the practice, creating the right environment to find a perfect balance of focus, tranquility, and relaxation.
The school is innovative and highly professional and guarantees quality and safety during all the lessons. Once in the water, groups (maximum of 6 people per instructor) will be divided according to surf level and previous experience and every alumn will receive personalized instructions and feedback. The instructors, as experienced local surfers, know the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve perfectly and they choose every day the best spot and timetable for the lessons.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or an expert surfer, among the offers you’ll find the right package for you!

Francesca Botta is one of the founders of Moka Surfhouse & Yoga Retreat. She began studying yoga in Italy in 2009, falling in love with ashtanga practice under the guidance of Gian Renato Marchisio – Authorised Level I KPJAYI teacher. She got her RYT 200hr Yoga Teacher after one year training with Joana Cadete and Rita Chacaço. She continued her studies participating in various workshops in Italy , Portugal and Spain delving deeeper into technical and spiritual aspects. For Francesca Yoga is a way of living and discovering everyday how the practice can create space within yourself.
Carla Alcobia has been a Yoga practitioner for several years, which has taken her on a deep journey of inner rediscovery and reconnection. A certified yoga teacher (RYT 200hr), she loves exploring complementary yoga practices, teaching vinyasa, yin and restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and aerial yoga. The energy she puts into her classes is focused on turning the practice into a meditative moment that allows students, at their own pace, to reconnect with their inner space of equanimity and silence.
Joana Martins found in Yoga her way of Connection. When the practice became even more prevalent, she decided to immerse herself in a year training as a Yoga teacher (RYT 200hr), also having a background in Philosophy studies, and having done some other certifications around wellness as a holistic path. She follows the premise that it is not the individual that should adjust to the practice, but the other way around, the practice should adapt to the individual, valuing and giving space to each person's rhythm and the capacity that each one finds to explore their universe of practice.
Fiona Caitlin Bringmann fell in love with yoga from an early age and has been teaching yoga for the past eight years. She completed her initial teacher training with Frog Lotus Yoga in Andalusia, Spain, and since then has furthered her practice and teaching style through ongoing study in Australia, Denmark, India and Portugal. Fiona's classes are creative, incorporating many aspects of conscious flow through balance, strengthening, stretching, breath-work and meditation. She believes yoga is for every body, and so her teaching style is soft and explorative.
Bárbara Moura has been practicing Hatha Yoga for over 20 years. What began as a complementary physical practice became a need to connect with herself, a way of living. After completed a yoga for babies and children course at Babyoga Portugal School, she completed a Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training. She is currently attending The Syntropy of Yoga: 3 years advanced studies program in Iyengar Yoga with Billy Konrad and Tobias Lotan.
Klaudia began her journey as a yoga student in her early years, realizing that this ancient practice helped her balance mind, body & emotions. Fascinated by the depth of the yoga teachings, she traveled to India in 2018 and completed her 200 h RYS teacher training at Earth Yoga Village. Following additional trainings at Yoga Vidya school (100h) and many hours of Vipassana meditation practice, she has been teaching the foundations of Hatha, Vinyasa, and meditation as a form of deep inner exploration. Her teaching style focuses on cultivating states of mindfulness and flow through movement.
