Accommodation

Check-in Time:
12:00
Check-out Time:
20:00

Villa Taina is located in front of the beach in the center of Cabarete, right next to the main kitespot. The hotel offers a top notch experience, with premium rooms, high internet speed (starlink), a swimming pool, and a beach restaurant for your included breakfasts and a bar.

The basic prices are for shared rooms and beds (only for groups of 3 or 4). If you do not wish to share a bed and a room, you can book multiple rooms instead, and they will adjust the price accordingly.

Program

In order to maximize your progress, each coach will be in team with maximum two kiters. A coach will be equipped with a camera to speed up your progress. You will go to the best kitespots around Cabarete: From flat water in a river to beautiful waves on the reef, perhaps see some turtles and go on memorable downwinders.

The first day will take place in the main bay of Cabarete. The afternoon will start by making sure you are ready for the downwinders, or help you get there with some beach maneuvers and self rescue. Once that is out of the way, let's go on the water all afternoon to work on your next tricks or skills. The day will end with a drink on the beach to check the videos of your session and help you improve.

For the second afternoon, you will take the car and discover the remote spot of Las Canas, from which you will do a first small downwind to the Yassica river, the only true flatwater spot around Cabarete. You will stay there for a coaching session in the river, then take a break to check the videos of your flat water session. You will then finish the afternoon by going downwind again until you reach the hotel.

On the third day, start in the main bay, but this time going straight downwind, following the reef break until you reach kite beach. There you can enjoy the nice kickers and flatter water, or if it is too crowded go slightly more downwind for a coaching session. after that, you will continue going downwind to the famous surf spot of "El Encuentro" to finish the session and enjoy a drink in a beautiful location, so we can do a final debrief on the day's video and your general progress.

The program is flexible, and can be adapted to your preferences (more wave-riding, or focusing on flat water for example).

You should be able to ride upwind and be independent even in choppy waters or waves to go on a downwinder. If this is not the case, you are of course still welcome, but the priority will be to make you independant before potentially going on a downwinder.

Highlights

  • Kite every afternoon for as long as you can
  • First day big coaching session in the main bay
  • Second day, take the car to Las Canas, and go for a downwinder with a great flat water session in La Boca, then second part of the downwinder back to Cabarete
  • Third day downwind from Cabarete to the famous "Encuentro" surf spot. Ride in kite beach for a coaching session, and stop for a nice break with snacks halfway through, then straight to "El Encuentro"
  • Every day will include a video analysis during one of the breaks
  • "No-wind" excursions (if there is no wind during one of the days): Cruise along the river for a complete change of scenery, explore the underground caves behind Cabarete, or you can grab a surfboards and go to Encuentro for a morning session

There are so many restaurants it is hard to mention everyone, but the best restaurant around is probably Papi's. If you want something more chill, the Mojito bar is always a good choice, with affordable prices, a diverse menu and 2x1 happy hours from 5 to 7.
