I went there to escape all the backpacker trouble and to find empty waves. Unfortunately, I timed it wrong with the waves but that didn't make the trip any worse. I had the greatest time there. The staff was incredible. I can only recommend to go visit this little paradise and if you do, make sure to brush up your ping pong skills to beat Tex. The food was amazing too!
Visited this resort as its location is straight across from the surf. The accommodation looked comfortable and the view was unreal. We were cruising Fiji on our Yatch so pulled in on our dingy, this is the first time I've posted on TripAdvisor regarding Fiji. This resort supports villages on Taveuni and employ local people, a beautiful family and superb location.

We had a great time at Maqai. We loved that there is only limited people allowed to stay, made it felt like a real home away from home. Even though the conditions weren't good for surfing every day, but they made sure that we still had options to do other activities, such as island exploration and had a freshly cooked fish on a white sandy beach. The staff was amazing and the location was fantastic, such a paradise for relaxation.

I spent three nights at Maqai Beach Eco Surf Resort, and I had a wonderful time there! The staff really look after you and the food is excellent. There is a lovely communal atmosphere, which is a great place to meet other travelers. There are lots of activities on offer and some are free.
