Jesus Cabrera
Jesus is a local from Salina Cruz, Mexico and one of the best surfers in this area. Growing up here, he has a lot of experience and knowledge about surfing waves here on the coast of Oaxaca. He is well known for his knowledg and good service.

Location

Salina Cruz

Salina Cruz is a city and port of the state of Oaxaca. Located in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, Southeast Mexico, Salina Cruz has a refinery, beautiful beaches, and is one of the 10 most important ports in Mexico. The closest towns to it are Huatulco and Puerto Escondido. Between Salina Cruz and Huatulco there are around 17 surf spots, beaches of all levels of surf with good sand bars, and long waves with lots of tubes. Also, Salina Cruz is very good for fishing and diving. The water of the beaches is crystal clear and rich with beautiful colors full of life. There are also many turtles and dolphins.

Punta Conejo

If there is a dream for surfers, it is perhaps a perfect and solitary spot with a long wave under a sunny sky. Punta Conejo is one of those places where surfers seem to be dreaming. The wave breaks to the right, starting from the beginning of the hill, which in the distance looks like a rabbit. The surfing lasts almost a minute normally but with swell lasts a little longer. It's a soft wave. It does not make hollow tubes but it's a lot of fun. Sometimes it is better to walk back to the point than to swim back through the distance that runs in the wave. Punta Conejo is an uncrowded site. There are no restaurants, hotels, or houses on the beach so that you will have to carry supplies because you will not find any store nearby.

If you want to surf at this point, you will have to drive from Huatulco to Salina Cruz. 5 kilometers before you reach this city, turn right onto Praia Brasil. Be careful, there is an intricate network of dirt roads with no signs to get to the beach. If you do not have a vehicle with double traction for the sand, you will have to leave your car about 300 meters from the sea and walk on the dunes until you reach the beach. It is a little difficult to access this beach but the wave is worth it. It will be a very pleasant session, especially for longboarders. Punta Conejo is a dream come true and an incredible surfing adventure for those looking for a place to return to the true spirit of surfing, to meet the old ocean that always gives you their magic and beauty.
