It has four private rooms, a private home on top of the hill, one small apartment, and a restaurant with pool. The hotel is built on a hillside, situated in the middle of town just off the main street and walking distance to supermarket, restaurants, and the beach. The lowest level is a communal restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Moreover, there is also a pool in front to cool off during hot weather.
On the second level, there are four rooms looking over the pool, along with a cool little garden on the side for you to hang out. On top of the hill, there is a main house that usually rented to families. While on the back side of the hill, there is a small apartment with a view of the jungle.
Each of the room is equipped with therapeutic matrasses, air-conditioned, ceiling fan, mini fridge, safe, and a comfortable hammock. The style of the hotel is a combination of old Spanish on the outside with white brick walls and Spanish tile on the. There is also Balinese touches on the inside with finished concrete, beautifully finished wood, as well as items shipped especially from Bali. Last but not least, the most comfortable linen sheets are all the way from a small company in Australia.
For surfing, you need focus, a clear mind, and a strong body which are also three benefits of yoga. Learning to breathe, clear your head, and hold poses to strengthen muscles is a perfect out-of-water practice for catching that ride in the ocean. The Lucero team has found the perfect balance between the two so you can enjoy both activities to the fullest during your time in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, a town that is truly a surf and yogi mecca.
The surf lessons will include paddling, duck diving, catching a wave, positioning, and more. A certified and experienced surf coach will give you the personal attention you need, and it does not matter if you are a beginner or already a bit more advanced surfer. During the final surf lesson, the Lucero team will go to the beach for your photography session, capturing you in action with the waves. These photos will be sent to you by email after the trip.
Yoga trains your mind to be still so that you can see things clearly. Nature will intensify this experience and heighten your awareness. When you practice yoga outdoors, it will give a different dimension to your practice. During this retreat, there will be a total of five yoga sessions. Four sessions will be held at a beautiful outdoor yoga deck nearby, and one session will be at a breathtaking yoga studio out of town, which the Lucero team considers as a secret spot in the area.
There are different classes to choose from and you can choose when you want to join. You can either start your day with a yoga session while the jungle around you is just waking up, feeling the soft morning breeze on your face, or end your day with an evening class around 6 p.m., where you can rejuvenate after tiring activities under the sun.
A day trip to the Montezuma waterfalls via an all-terrain vehicle is included in your package. Montezuma is a nearby hippy town and you will be taken there to experience its beautiful waterfall. You can choose to hike all the way to the top and jump off the waterfall, or you can also stay at the bottom and swim in the fresh pool underneath. You will also do a stopover in the town proper to check out the souvenir shops.

This retreat will take place in the town of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica. It is a small popular beach village on the Pacific coast. The beautiful white sand beaches you will find here are known for some of the best surf breaks in the entire country, with great surf conditions all year round which is ideal for surfers of any level. This booming travel destination offers a pristine jungle view from the beach with no big buildings anywhere.
The rustic beauty of this town comes with one road that runs from the southern part of the town of Malpais up to the beach town of Playa Hermosa and further, parallel from the beach. Many amazing restaurants and quaint hotels are spread out across town on either sides of this road. This, in combination with clear blue water, white sand, and palm trees in the background, truly makes you feel like you are surfing in paradise.
All daily breakfasts and lunches are included in the price of this retreat. These meals will be provided at the accommodating hotel and prepared with fresh local ingredients. For breakfast, you can choose real Italian espresso or creamy cappuccino, delicious homemade cakes, tropical fruit salad, pancakes, or American-style food. The menu always provides an array of vegetarian, meat, and seafood options.
During your free time, there are other available activities near the camp like fishing, horseback riding, snorkeling, stand-up paddle boarding, and zip lining. Lucero Surf Retreats can help you organize a series of activities or excursions at an additional cost.
You can also choose to join optional morning group runs on the beach. The mornings in Santa Teresa are beautiful and perfect for an early work-out. Running together can be motivating and you will be so happy that you started your day off this way.
You can also choose to join a camp fire and music session on the beach. Every Sunday, there is a restaurant and bar at the north end of Santa Teresa that hosts Pura Sonica, a gathering of locals and tourists to celebrate with good food, good music, and a camp fire for sunset.

From San Jose, you can book a domestic flight to arrive at Tambor Airport (TMU). Flights last for about 20 minutes and cost around 90 USD. The two airlines that fly from San Jose to Tambor are Sansa and Nature Air.

It leaves from the Coca Cola bus station at 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. The trip takes five hours including a one-hour ferry ride when you get to the pier. A ticket costs 10 USD for one way. From Tambor, expect a 45-minute taxi ride that costs approximately 50 USD for one to four people. There will be an extra fee of 10 USD for each additional person.
