Lucero Surf Retreats offers a really fun and diverse yoga package in tropical Costa Rica where the beaches are breathtaking and you can rejuvenate. This retreat includes yoga twice a day at different locations. The town has the most beautiful yoga studios either by the beach or on the mountain, and during this week you will be taken to each and everyone of them.
All guests will be staying at Otro Lado Guesthouse. The property has four villas surrounding a pool, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere; beautifully designed with a blend of Asian and Caribbean worlds. Each two-floor lodge has one queen-sized bed, two bathrooms, two sofas in the living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. %There is also plenty of private garden space with a hammock and porch. The main bathroom on the first floor is open air with natural stone work surrounded by tropical flowers. The fully equipped kitchen provides a stove, fridge, freezer, and coffee maker.
The property has six spacious private rooms that offer guests simplicity and comfort with a private lounging area surrounded by a tropical garden for relaxation. The rooms offer a more economical alternative to the villas, while maintaining the same standards and level of comfort. Every bedroom has a private bathroom and a terrace where you can admire the surrounding tropical vegetation and pool view.
For surfing, you need focus, a clear mind, and a strong body all of which are also three benefits of yoga. Learn to breathe, clear your head, and hold poses to strengthen muscles as a perfect out-of-water practice for catching that ride in the ocean.
Montezuma is a nearby hippy town and you will be taken there to check out the beautiful waterfall. You can choose to hike all the way to the top and jump off the waterfall, or you can stay at the bottom and swim in the fresh pool underneath. You will also pay a visit to the town to check out the souvenir shops.
On Sunday, you will be taken to Roca Mar, a restaurant and bar on the beach at the north end of Santa Teresa where they have Pura Sonica - a gathering of locals and tourists to celebrate on the beach with good food, good music, and a camp fire for sunset.
Jared has been with Lucero from day one and therefore, he has been able to give a lot of his guests their first surf experience in Costa Rica. He knows how to make you laugh and fall in love with surfing!
Melchior is your to go to person during your vacation. He will be there to give you a warm welcome when you arrive, go over the week-schedule, keep you company, and help you with everything you may need during your stay.
Mark will show you the ropes of surfing in Santa Teresa. He'll get you comfortable in the water and teach you how to catch waves. He has surfed his whole life and teaches both beginners and intermediates.
With many years of experience, Francesca is an amazing yoga instructor. Her classes are relaxing but can also be challenging. She has taught yoga for Lucero since 2007.
Lucero is located in the town of Santa Teresa, a small popular beach village on the Pacific coast. The beautiful white sand beaches you find there are known for some of the best surfing in the entire country and ideal for surfers of any level. This booming travel destination offers a pristine jungle view from the beach with no big buildings anywhere. The rustic beauty of this town comes with one road that runs from the southern part of Mal Pais up to Hermosa and further parallel from the beach.

The price of this retreat includes daily breakfast and lunch. Daily breakfast and lunch at the hotel are prepared with fresh local ingredients. For breakfast, you can choose real Italian espresso or creamy cappuccino, delicious homemade cakes, tropical fruit salad, pancakes, or American-style breakfast. The menu will always provide an array of vegetarian, meat, and seafood options.
You will be entitled to a welcome dinner at "El Smokey Bigote" Restaurant. Its owner, Kari, used to be the private chef at the villa. Now that she has opened her own restaurant, you will be sent there for an amazing welcome dinner.

Brave the pacific coast’s mellow water of Mal Pais on a boat. You will be taken out on a two-and-a-half-hour trip along the nature reserves to go snorkeling or fishing. If you’re lucky you might even see dolphins or wales!
Zip through the jungles of the Cabo Blanco nature reserve, a very popular attraction for those that come to Costa Rica and are in for some excitement and want to see the beautiful sights of the tropics while flying from tree to tree like Tarzan!
Take a three-hour guided ride through the mountains and on the beach. If you love to ride horses, you should definitely do it there. Your guide will take you where barely anybody comes by foot inside the rainforest, to the end of the sunny beachside.
With silk acrobatics, a person hangs by a special fabric from the ceiling. You can use the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral your body into various positions. It is a work out and a lot of fun at the same time!
There are many beautiful natural tide pools along the coast of Santa Teresa. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon off, bring some beverages, and soak up the beautiful weather and nature of Costa Rica.
Located on the Nicoya peninsula, this is a full day and all-inclusive experience. Once you get to Tortuga island, they will anchor your boat next to the best points for snorkeling.
The price of this retreat includes a daily one therapeutic and relaxing massage or an invigorating post-surf massage. Additional treatments can be booked, for an extra cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at San Jose International Airport (SJC). Transfer from and to the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport.
For domestic flights, please book a flight to Tambor Airport (TMU). Flights are 20 minutes and costs around 90 USD.
Once in Tambor, expect a 45-minute taxi ride. Taxis cost approximately 50 USD for one to four people, and 10 USD for each additional person.
From San Jose, you can also take a shuttle to Santa Teresa. It will pick you up from your hotel or the airport and will take you directly to Otro Lado Guesthouse. The trip is about four to five hours including a one-hour ferry ride. The price is around 45 USD per person and it leaves at 9 a.m. If you would like to leave at a different time, the price is 200 USD for a private shuttle, and fits up to seven people.
Buses leave from the Coca Cola bus station in San Jose to Santa Teresa at 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. The trip takes five hours including a one-hour ferry ride. A ticket costs 10 USD one way and will take you directly to Otro Lado Guesthouse.
