Lucero Surf Retreats are opening their own accommodations at the end of November and want to already start offering vacations with stay here. They don't have many pictures yet but they have some and they have 3d pictures of the end result. Package from now on will only be available from Sunday till the following Saturday. Massage and activity are no longer included but will be offered during the week and they can decide to join if they want and pay here. A welcome and farewell dinner will be included.
In November we will be opening the doors to our new accommodations in the heart of Santa Teresa, walking distance to the beach. There will be room for 8-10 guests per week. Packages run from Sunday till the following Saturday. The look of the new hotel is inspired by Brazilian architecture with concrete walls, big wooden beams and Spanish tile roofs. The inside design of the rooms is simpel & chic. Concrete floors and showers, furniture and doors made from beautiful local wood, finishing touches from Bali & high quality linen from Australia. Each room comes with a mini fridge, AC, ceiling fan, safe, an outside deck/balcony with hammocks
Start your day with a gentle Vinyasa flow in iyengar base while the jungle around you is just waking up. Francesca, your yoga teacher will make sure that you start every morning positive and revived. Our yoga studio is open and airy with a beautiful wooden floor. Use the studio to do your stretches, meditate or some personal yoga practices whenever you want.
We will start your surf lesson with teaching the basics of surfing, safety tips, paddling techniques, followed by standing up and riding the waves. The time of the surf lesson depends on the tide, usually the lesson is scheduled between low and mid tide. With a private lesson you are guaranteed to get the most of your time in the water. If you already know how to surf, we will discuss your level of experience and what you are looking to improve.
Mr Yetti- is your surf photographer. He takes amazing photos and will capture you at your best during the surf lesson! You will have a lot of great shots on a CD to take home.
We schedule your massage towards the end of the week, when the surf lessons are over and your body probably needs the most work! Nathan or Karma our massage therapist is wonderful and our previous guests have always praised his bodywork. You might be interested in booking some extra sessions!
There will be a few free afternoons to schedule additional activities or to just relax by the pool or on the beach. If you want to spend extra time in the water to practice your surfing skills you are always free to take our boards out whenever you want. Make sure to ask your surf coach Mark about the right tide, usually mid to low tide is the best for beginning surfers.
A trip to the Montezuma waterfall. Montezuma is a nearby hippy town and we will take you there to check out the beautiful waterfall. You can choose to hike all the way to the top and jump off the waterfall or you can stay at the bottom and swim in the fresh pool underneath. We will also take you into the town to check out the souvenir shops.
Jared has been with Lucero from day one and therefore, he has been able to give a lot of his guests their first surf experience in Costa Rica. He knows how to make you laugh and fall in love with surfing!
Mark will show you the ropes of surfing in Santa Teresa. He'll get you comfortable in the water and teach you how to catch waves. He has surfed his whole life and teaches both beginners and intermediates.
Daily tropical meals served for breakfast and lunch. Your chef, Maria, has worked in the kitchen of the restaurant since the day the hotel opened its doors. You probably won't see her much but now you know she's the one that prepares all your yummy breakfasts and lunches-and she does it with a lot of local love!
Along the coast of Santa Teresa there are many beautiful natural tide pools. Its the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon off, bring some beverages and soak up the beautiful weather and nature of Costa Rica.
You can walk everywhere but we don't recommend doing this during the heat of the day! You can also rent bikes for $5 USD/day. This makes it a lot easier to get around and you can go up the road to Playa Hermosa or even further. There is also the option to rent a quad, the cost for this is $70 USD/day. A lot of fun and a good way to check out neighbor towns like Montezuma.
Tamar is your massage therapist as well as on site manager. From relaxing to deep tissue, you can request the kind of massage you would like to have. Everyone loves Tamar for her body- work. She usually lives and surfs in Holland but the winters she likes to get away and enjoy the tropics.
You can choose to fly into San Jose (SJO) the capital of Costa Rica or Liberia (LIR)
It is easier to fly into San Jose but sometimes flights to Liberia are a lot cheaper which makes it a better choice to fly here instead. From both airports it is about the same distance to get to us but from San Jose you have more options!
$26 USD departure tax is payable at the international airport by all foreign passengers departing on international flights.
Once you are in Costa Rica, the closest airport to us is Tambor. Domestic flights are 20 minutes and cost around 90 USD. The two airlines that fly from San Jose to Tambor are Sansa and Nature Air. To make reservations go to. www.natureair.com or www.flysansa.com
For the more adventurous traveler there is the option to take a direct bus to Santa Teresa. It leaves from the Coca Cola bus station in San Jose at 7 am and 2 pm. The drive takes 5 hours (including the one hour ferry ride). A ticket costs $10 USD one way.
Even though this option is a little more challenging, because you have to take a cab to the bus station, find the right bus etc. Once youre on the bus it is a direct shot and you dont have to worry about your luggage or changing busses.
From San Jose you can also take a shuttle to Santa Teresa. It will pick you up from your hotel or the airport and will take you directly to us. The drive is about 4-5 hours including a 1 hour ferry ride.
The price is $45 USD per person and it leaves at 9 am. If you would like to leave at a different time the price is $200 USD for a private shuttle, up to seven people. To make reservations go to www.montezumaexpeditions.com
Once in Tambor, expect a 45 minute taxi ride. Taxis cost approximately $50 USD for 1-4 people and $10 USD for each additional person.
