The rooms are simple, but they are clean and comfortable. Don't expect too much luxury, but from all of the rooms you can see the waves while lying on your bed, and that's the surfer's dream. There are 4 dorm rooms upstairs and 4 private rooms downstairs. The dorms fit 5 people in each room and each room has a toilet. The private rooms have a private toilet.

Santa Catalina is located on the south Pacific coast. It is perfect to learn because it offers a wide variety of waves that suit all levels of surfing. The staff is very experienced, multilingual (with teacher certification) and can teach you surfing in the best fashion. Los arrieros has several types of boards to find what fits you best, and they pick the best spots on the beach to help with your surf. The staff is multilingual. From your hotel, you will be taken to the best beach spot of the day.

Beach and snorkeling boat tour
This boat tour departs from the local beach of Santa Catalina village. It takes you to the Coiba National Park which is an archipelago with pristine waters, lots of wildlife, and the most beautiful beaches in Panama. The boat takes one hour to get there and on the way, you get to see dolphins (guaranteed) and whales. You will snorkel on the most amazing coral reefs, (in 3 different spots) they are like an aquarium. You also have an option of hiking a sendero in the main island.

The staff is multilingual with teacher certification, and can teach you surfing in the best fashion. They pick the best spots at the beach to help with your surf. Keone Salgado, born in a family of surfers, always lived by the beach and he is himself a former professional surfer. He is a certified instructor with more than 10 years of experience teaching in Santa Catalina, Panama.

Surfer's paradise, an iconic place in Santa Catalina
Some say this hotel has the best view of Santa Catalina, it's been used all over the magazines and the web, as the postcard publicity for Santa Catalina. It's located above a short cliff that overviews the best waves in Central America and several islands. The atmosphere is very relaxed and total surfing environment from all over the world. The staff is very attentive and the restaurant provides various meals all day.
The property is right in the middle of two beaches. On the right side there is the iconic world class waves, and on the left side there is a long stretch of a sandy beach which is perfect for beginners.
So the neighbourhood is very quiet without many neighbours around. There are a few restaurants 500 meters away.

Please book your flight to arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Airport transfer is available at an extra cost.
Arrival by bus
Santa Catalina is in the province of Veraguas, 400 kilometers away from Panama City (six hours drive). Buses depart from Albrook big bus station and change bus in Santiago and in Sona. The cost is about 20 USD.
When you're in Panama city, you take the metro train to the last stop, Albrook Station. From there you find the buses to the town, Santiago (3 hours). From Santiago, you change bus to go to Soná (1 hour). And finally in Soná you change for the Santa Catalina bus (1.5 hour ).
Start traveling in the morning because the last bus from sona to Santa Catalina is at around 4 p.m. When you arrive at Santa Catalina, you hop off at the center of town in the main intersection. From that intersection you want to go to the hostel, Surfers Paradise.
You take the steep road going up towards the Estero beach. You keep walking on the paved road for 1 km. And after the entrance of Santa Catalina Hotel. You have a dirt road going right. Keep going towards the sea and after 500 meter you arrive at the best place in town. The owner is Italo. He's going to host you.
Arrival by car
Driving directions from Panama City:
- Go to Santiago de Veraguas which takes four hours.
- Then, go south to Sona which takes one hour.
- One kilometer before Sona, turn left to Santa Catalina.
- After driving for 35 kilometers, turn left in El Tigre.
- After 15 kilometers, you are in Santa Catalina.
- Once there, follow the way to the beach of Estero.
- Turn left in the downtown intersection.
- On the way to Estero ,past Hotel Santa Catalina, on the next intersection you turn to the right on the dirt road.
- Follow the dirt road for 200 meters and you find Surfer's Paradise Hostel.
