Local 55 invites you to take part in this exciting surf camp to enjoy a fantastic surfing experience in Brazil. Combined with city tours, this surf camp will promise you a different way to enjoy one of the world-renowned surfer’s paradise countries in South America. From beautiful beaches to exotic cities, this surf camp will ensure you have a perfect surfing holiday. So, what are you waiting for? Pack now and experience one of the most memorable surfing adventures like you have never had before!
You will be staying at Mango Tree Hostel for three nights and at Rio Surf N Stay for four nights. All of the accommodations will be a six-bed dorm. Both places are located near the beach (Ipanema Beach near the city center and Macumba Beach which is more isolated).
Located in one of the best spots in Rio de Janeiro where is just a block away from the world-famous Ipanema Beach, the Mango Tree Hostel offers a relaxing place to sleep, meeting other travelers, and tasting a chilled caipirinha. At the hostel, you will find the comforts of a guest house (sprung mattresses, 100% cotton sheets, towels, a real Brazilian style breakfast, and the famous gas heated power showers) coupled with the warm welcome and atmosphere of a backpacker hostel. The Mango Tree Hostel is based in a newly renovated 1930s colonial style house in a quiet residential area. It has 13 private rooms (two triple rooms, two twin rooms, 10 with en-suite, and all are air-conditioned), 30 dorm beds, and all the facilities to make your stay with Mango Tree Hostel the most memorable of your trip.
During this surf camp, you will have three group surfing lessons and two tours (Big Dude and Favela). Due to its abundance of beautiful beaches, surfing is a favorite pastime in Rio de Janeiro.
In the Big Dude tour, you will head out for a jam-packed day to see all of Rio de Janeiro’s best sights. This tour is the most comfortable and convenient way to check out the must-see attractions of Rio de Janeiro such as Christ the Redeemer statue, Lapa Selaron steps, Tijuca Forest National Park, and others.
You will enjoy a day tour of the Rocinha favela (shantytown) that is the largest favela in South America. Most visitors to Rio de Janeiro have probably heard about or seen the "City of God" movie. To be honest, Local 55 feels that the movie creates an unfortunate stereotype of this marvelous city and many favelas in Rio. In order to correct this stereotype and show people the true modern Rio de Janeiro, Local 55 teams have developed a special favela tour. The tours are organized by the local English-speaking tour guide, Bruno, who comes from Rocinha.
You will enjoy Big Dude and Favela tours during this surf camp.
Bruno is a guide.
This surf camp will take place in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ipanema is a safe residential district within easy reach of the Sugar Loaf and Corcovado. As well as the beach, it offers a wide range of bars and restaurants to suit all budgets and plenty of shopping opportunities such as the weekly Sunday Hippie Market.
