Surrounded by beautiful jungle, amazing waves, crazy parties, and incredible people, Lanka Living will be your very own surf paradise! With over 10 different breaks close by, Ahangama has the perfect wave to challenge and thrill you. If you're a whitewash warrior, the instructors will get you standing up in no time, and if you're already shredding on green waves, then get ready to dive deep into technique, surf theory, and video analysis to take your skills to the next level. What are you waiting for? Come surf, chill, party and get fit with the Lanka Living surf family!
Lanka Living is South West and Sri Lanka's freshest surf camp. Nestled in the jungle treetops of Ahangama just minutes away from amazing warm water waves; their jungle villa has something for everyone.
They have two beautiful luxury private rooms: one with air-conditioning and one with an upstairs balcony and large private bathroom. Two standard private double rooms and a colorful, spacious globetrotter dorm. It’s important to have somewhere comfy to chill after a big surf sesh which is why they’ve made as many chill areas as they can. Their favorite being the biggest comfiest hammock in sri lanka (they’ve tested it and it can fit 20 people).
They’ve also got plenty of perfect hidey holes to have some pre-drinks or maybe an after party without bothering the sleepy heads who might have passed out already.
Their surf fitness area is the perfect space for a jungle workout and will give you the skills and exercise techniques to keep surf fit.
They understand everyone is an individual and embrace that! This is why all the packages can be customized depending on your budget and surf and fitness level.
Your day at Lanka Living normally starts by sipping a coffee, taking in the beautiful jungle views from the dorm's balcony. Head downstairs, grab your board and jump in a Tuk-Tuk around 7 a.m. and you're off to your surf lesson! The expert instructors normally begin with some surf theory and ocean knowledge on the beach, before jumping into the water with you for the practical component.
Depending on the day, you might head upstairs for the Level 2 video analysis session, or down into the workout area to sweat it out at surfitness. A delicious, healthy breakfast buffet is served at 10:30 a.m. daily, so dig in and fuel up for the day! After breakfast, it's free time until you head out for an afternoon activity, trip, or free-surf.
Dinner is served in the camp five days a week at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, the time is once again yours! You can chill out around the camp and swap stories or play games over a beer. Or, if you like a boogie, throw on a party shirt and head down to one of the sweet beach parties on the south coast.
Surfitness is designed to prep your body for the physical demands of surfing - work on your mobility to keep you injury free, move explosively to pop up faster, take steeper drops and bigger waves, and get your sweat on, build endurance and feel the burn in muscles you didn't know you had! Surfitness is held every Monday and Friday morning at 10 a.m.
Video analysis is designed to take the Intermediate surfer on a deep dive into the art of reading and taking green waves. Hone in on subtle technique flaws in your popup, make adjustments to your ride style, and of course - check out the biggest wipe outs of the day. We video our Level 2 classes only, every Monday and Friday morning, however, the team always invites the Level 1s to attend the analysis sessions - even if it's not you on the screen, learning from the mistakes of others can literally shave years off your learning curve.
Depending on the waves and our week, we sometimes do extra trips:
Head out bright an early for a full day of surfing and chilling at South Sri Lanka's most beautiful beach. Get extra lesson time with the instructors, go cliff diving, enjoy a great coffee and meal at the surrounding gourmet cafes, and then head to a beautiful beachside hostel for a sunset dinner, happy hour cocktails, and funky DJs.
Check out one of Sri Lanka's oldest surf towns. Join the whole squad and enjoy the massive beach, great surf, volleyball tournaments, cafes, cocktails and parties that Hikka has to offer.
Mikaela doesn't do the ordinary. After catching her first wave in 2011, she left the mundane Swedish lifestyle to pursue something more, the ocean, and began to dedicate her life to the sport. Her travels have since led to finding her own paradise in Sri Lanka where her dreams are becoming a reality and so Lanka Living Surf Squad was born.
This surf camp will take place in Ahangama, Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, winds are offshore making clean waves, swells are consistently good, and rain is at a minimum. With tropical temperatures all-year-round and perfect waves nearly every day during the season (November-April), Sri Lanka offers ideal conditions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers. Leave the wetsuit behind, rock up in just your bikini / board shorts and embrace 28 degrees+ salt water. Forget about ugly tan lines, a smelly wetsuit, and the struggle to put that wetsuit on or off and enjoy the freedom with few people in the lineup, heaps of waves and good vibes. There are waves for everyone! Here are some surf spots near to the camp:
Five dinners in the camp are included in your package. The amazing chefs will keep you fueled for the surf with huge breakfast buffets, exotic fruits, tasty tacos, pizza nights, local delicacies and more. Two nights a week, the team will head out to the some of the freshest restaurants South Sri Lanka has to offer for squad dinner and drinks. All meals outside the camp are not included in the package. The majority of the food is vegetarian-friendly, but they cater to a variety of dietary requirements, please inform Lanka Living Surf before your arrival.
The squad is almost always getting up to something exciting! Regular shenanigans include beach volleyball, surf camp social nights, half-day beach trips, market and live music afternoons, sunset cocktails, beach BBQs, afternoon freesurfs, beach parties, and full-day surf trips up the coast. Or, if you're lucky, you'll be around for our special monthly events, like Surf Camp yacht parties and Tacos n' Tattoos.
Outside of lessons and activities, you're free to do whatever you like with your downtime. Chill out with a book or guitar in the jumbo hammocks, share a beer and a chat or play cards with other guests, head out for a freesurf, or get your FIFA fix on the Xbox. If you'd like a massage, Lanka Living Surf can recommend you to some of the best spas, massages, and Ayurvedic treatments in the area. Just ask at reception!
You may ask Lanka Living Surf to call you a Tuk-Tuk to the local tea plantation, Galle Fort, snake farm and other local attractions. They also offer help organizing bigger tours - ask the team for local advice to avoid the tourist traps and get drivers you can trust to take you to see Sri Lanka's most beautiful sights.
