Kitesurfing Sri Lanka kitecamp is situated in the fishing village of Kandakuliya in Kalpitiya, north west part of Sri Lanka. The property is a coconut estate with a beautiful exotic garden. It has 19 bungalows with private bathrooms and toilets, one 3-bedrooms villa with 2 bathrooms, and 13 deluxe tents with a common bathroom. The accommodation is also facilitated with homemade food, bar, and restaurant to satisfy your hunger. At this camp, you’ll find privacy, tranquility, and beauty.

Lagoon View bungalow

There are two types of lagoon view bungalows at Kitesurfing Sri Lanka. They all have private bathroom and toilets, 6 with private open air bathroom and 4 with private in-room bathroom. From your terrace, you can enjoy the beauty of the mangroves and the beach.

Garden View bungalow

The tranquility of the Garden View bungalows is ideal for nature lovers. The bungalows have private outdoor bathrooms and toilets, surrounded by plants. From your terrace you can enjoy a direct view of the tropical garden.

Deluxe tent

The tents are set in the middle of Kitesurfing Sri Lanka’s tropical garden. Big and comfortable, they come with a fan, mattresses, a bedside lamp, a mosquito plug and some furniture to pack your clothes. All tents have access to the common bathroom and toilets.

A typical day in this program would consist of approximately 4 to 6 hours of lesson and you can decide this with your instructor. All lessons include equipment and transport. You will be given kitesurfing lessons on level 1, 2, and 3. The first two levels are incorporated in the 9-hour course. The level 3 is to improve and have your first session in the water with the board.

All instructors are International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) certified. Kitesurfing Sri Lanka will ensure that you will get a pre-course manual to help speed up the learning process. Upon completion, students will get their IKO Kiteboarder Cards which enables them to rent and use kitesurfing gear anywhere in the world. Options to purchase kiteboarder manuals are also available. Free T-shirt is also given while stocks last.

  • Dilsiri Welikala

    Dilsiri is Sri Lanka’s first IKO qualified instructor and easily the most enthusiastic of kiters in Sri Lanka. He is well known in Sri Lanka for his passion for all watersports and nature! Interestingly enough before deciding to live by the beach he worked in a company that made Victoria's Secret! He has a passion for the arts and loves to play Scrabble.

  • Léo Moret

    Léo is an IKO qualified instructor. He is fanatic for any sliding sports such as kitesurf, kitesnow, surf, and paragliding. Léo also a great cook. Interestingly enough, Leo's first experience of Sri Lanka was when his dad took him on holiday there when he was a teenager. His project for 2016 is to build his house in France.

  • Mischi Walter

    Sri Lanka’s first and most experienced Kitesurfing Instructor. There is no doubt that Mischi is the best teacher of the sport in the island. A colourfull character who can teach you in 5 languages! After a days' teaching, Mischi can be found on the right side corner of the bar enjoying a conversation and a Lion Beer!

  • Amine

    A big-time waterman, Amine loves surfing, freestyle kiteboarding, and kite surfing. Most recently he has been focusing on strapless wave riding. He hails from Morocco.

This retreat will take place on the west coast of Sri Lanka in Kalpitiya on the peninsula of Puttalam. Kalpitiya beach is quite uncrowded since it is not spoilt by mass tourism. The setting in this place is amazing since it is surrounded by the lagoon and faces the Indian Ocean.

On one side of the peninsula is the Indian Ocean which is ideal for free riding and wave riding. On the other side is Kalpitiya Lagoon which is a perfect spot for beginners and freestylers. In between is Puttalam Lagoon with perfect flat water which is great for downwind trips and kite safari, freeriding, and camping.

Kitesurfing Sri Lanka's guests love their food. The food consists of fruits and vegetables from the village. They also provide fresh seafood brought in by the fishermen each morning. They also have Sri Lankan cuisine like rice & curry, hoppers and kottu as well as a range of Western dishes. Free tea, coffee, and drinking water around the clock will also be served.

Kitesurfing Sri Lanka has different types of massages: relaxing, deep tissue, sport, Thai, hot stones, cup therapy, and other special massages.

Driving directions from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)

  • From the airport, drive along the Main Negombo Road.
  • You need to pass the town of Chilaw and proceed on to the Puttalam Road.
  • Drive along the Puttalam Road until you reach the Palavi Junction at the 120-kilometer post.
  • Turn left at this junction and drive along the Kalpitiya Road for 36 kilometers.
  • After that, you will come to a junction called Kandakuliya Beach Road.
  • There is tuk tuk stop and stores at the junction.
  • Turn left at this junction and proceed for approximately 3 kilometers (don’t turn to any other roads, stick to the tar road).
  • You will pass a Muslim school and the road will bend to the right. On the right-hand side, you will see a gravel road (There is a Kitesurfing Lanka sign board on the wall at the top of the road).
  • Turn right there and proceed until you go over a culvert.
  • Once you go over the culvert on the left, there is a big blue gate. That’s Kitesurfing Sri Lanka!
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 30 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on departure.
