Accommodation

Kite Progress Tarifa offers its clients a spacious and modern accommodation in the kite house, Tarifa. The house is really comfortable with two double bedrooms, big living room, and kitchen. It is located only five minutes walk from the beach and very close to main restaurants, bars, and grocery stores.

Course information

This kitesurfing course is suitable for beginners, as well as for those who want to improve their skills and their knowledge in this area. Some of the things you will learn as a beginner includes:

  • basic theory of the wind and assessing the suitability of the beach
  • knowledge and use of the safety systems
  • setting up and packing down the kite
  • knowing and evaluating the area
  • flying the kite in different areas in the wind
  • launching and landing the kite with the help of an assistant
  • flying a big kite

What to expect

You'll learn the best of all disciplines: freeride, freestyle, new school, wave riding, and racing. Through a pragmatic, 'tried and tested' approach to instructing, the IKO certified (level 2 and level 2 senior) instructors tailor each lesson based on the level and individual needs of the pupils. The certified IKO kiteboarding instructors will help you learn proper kiteboarding practices and techniques, outlining what should and should not be done, every step of the way. They will give you useful tips on understanding the wind and choosing the right kiteboarding equipment, as well as a complete list of kiteboarding terminology.

Location

Kite Progress Tarifa is teaching kitesurfing on the beach of Los Lances, right at the beginning of the kitesurfing zone. Playa de Los Lances (The Los Lances Beach) is a long and white sandy beach with an average width of 120 meters. The beach is situated north of Tarifa, until Torre de la Peña. It is a very popular kitesurfing spot with many services, such as beach bars, toilets, showers, camping site and the possibility of parking.

  • The sea in the Los Lances, 50 meters

Things to do (optional)

From the simple pleasures of walking along the immense beaches, riding on the horseback to the dunes or mountain bike rides in the park, to climbing the Rocky Mountains. Tarifa is also famous for water sports, including kitesurfing, windsurfing, and paddle surfing. If you love sports and nature, then Tarifa is the place to be. There are also yoga classes offered for kite surfers.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Transfer from and to the airport available upon request. Depending on where you are coming, you can choose to fly either into Malaga airport (AGP), Seville airport (SVQ), Jerez airport (XRY) or Gibraltar airport (GIB). Kite Progress Tarifa will pick you up from the airport arrivals and take you directly to your accommodation in Tarifa.

There is a maximum capacity of four passengers with luggage. If you have any board bags, please advise when booking. Prices for our transportation, to or from the designated airport, one way, per person are: Seville airport to Tarifa 120 EUR, Malaga airport to Tarifa 100 EUR, Jerez airport to Tarifa 80 EUR and Gibraltar airport to Tarifa 50 EUR.

Arrival by bus

From the Malaga airport, Sevilla airport and Jerez de la Frontera airport you first have to take a bus to the centers of these cities, and from there take a second bus to Tarifa. If arriving at the Gibraltar airport, you first have to cross the border to Spain. From La Linea de Concepción, which is a town right across the border in Spain, take the bus to Tarifa. The bus station is about 10 minutes’ walk away from the crossing point.
