Get your kitesurf lessons near Dumaguete in the Philippines. Wind is the main reason why Kite In Negros set-up a center in Zamboanguita. Having the possibility to ride from sunrise till the wind dies, at a short walk from your resort is perfect for your kitesurfing holiday. ​The wind season is called Amihan and it runs from November till May. In general, the location is blessed with 15 to 20 knots, 95 percent of the time.

The accommodation is located just near the spot. Depending on the availability of the rooms, Kite In Negros will arrange a booking in Kav's or Lavanya hotel. Transport back and forth can be arranged using local tricycles for a modest cost.

Kav’s Beach Resort

Kav’s Beach Resort is a small beautiful resort 40 minutes away from Dumaguete city. The swimming pool will suit both kids and adults with a three-feet shallow end with slide and waterfall, and a six-feet deep end. There are a selection of local and international food in the restaurant and a good selection of cold and hot refreshments. The resort is located at three minutes' drive from the kite beach, which makes it the nearest from your spot.



Day 1

If you arrive early enough, you can start the lesson directly if you feel like it.

Day 2

Lessons will be starting with the first three hours of lessons.

  • You will learn the first step toward kitesurfing
  • You need to control a kite to be able to kitesurf
  • Focus on the kite control on the beach and in the water

With a specially adapted material, on the beach, you will be given the opportunity to learn how to control the kite by yourself in no time. Once this is done, you will start to body drag in the water, pulled by the kite.

Day 3:

You will spend more time in the water.

  • Steer the kite in the water
  • Learn how to relaunch when the kite is down
  • Body drag downwind
  • Change direction while gliding
  • Perform body dragging to go upwind
  • Come back to your original location
  • Get back your board in the water
  • Power launch of the kite (movement leading to the waterstart)
  • Perform self rescue

Day 4

The beach is just for launching and landing.

  • Review the previous points
  • Control of the bar with one hand
  • Prepare the board to fit your feet

You will be able to ride all the main wind orientations of Amihan or Habagat. The spot in front of the kite school (Cockpit) works perfectly during Amihan (end of October till May). The Kite In Negros kiteschool is located just on the beach. They have shower, kite storage, water, and coffee station.


The breakfast is taken at the hotel. For lunch, it is usual that you go to eat in a small snack bar near the spot (less than 2 USD for a full meal). For dinner, the hotel will get you some delicious local and international food. Kite In Negros organizes barbecue on the spot once a week.

Snorkeling in the area is just amazing. You can snorkel in front of the resort or go to Dauin where the marine sanctuary is the best in the area.


  • Trip in the waterfalls and hot spring in Dauin - 1 full afternoon: 3,000 pesos / person


Many dive centers are located in the area.

  • 1 dive costs 1,700 pesos for a certified diver
  • You can get your open water lesson for 15,000 pesos


Massages are available at the resort upon request.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Sibulan Airport (DGT). Kite In Negros is located 26 kilometers south of the city of Dumaguete.

Here are three options to get to the spot:

  • Pick up from the Sibulan Airport (DGT) - Van rental in front of the arrival terminal: 1,000 pesos per trip (45 - 60 minutes)
  • Get a tricycle from the airport or the harbour to the spot / resort: 500 pesos - negotiable (60 minutes)
  • Get a tricycle from the airport (150 pesos - fixed rate) or from the harbour (50 pesos) and to reach the southbound Jeepney bus station (in front of Robinson mall) or the Ceres bus station. Take your chosen transportation in the direction of Zamboanguita, and stop at the center, near the market: 30 pesos - up to 50 pesos with luggage (60 minutes)

For a cheap and efficient ride from the airport to the kitespot, Kite In Negros advise to get a van rental.
