The support boat during a lift is always a guarantee of safety. To be able to use the service, you have to be an autonomous kiter, able to then upwind, raise the sail from the water, and recover the board with the body drag technique. You also need to know the precedence and the security. The service includes transport by boat to the spot, inflating the kite, launching, recovery and return by the boat.
Lift service procedure
First, prepare your kite. From the docking bar to the kite, the sail is rolled up with the cables, already connected and wrapped on the bar, with all bladder deflated. The head of the lift will decide and announce the launch point, the sailing area, and the recovery area that will be different from time to time. It means, carried by the time, the rider will start off with water after assessing the weather and its capabilities. You should respect the rules of precedence in water to those who sail on starboard tack.
The head of the lift will remain at the discretion of the responsible lift, suspending the session in advance in water for reasons related to safety reasons. This includes transportation on the spot, inflating the kite, launching on the water, kitesurfing kite deflation in late session recovery, and return. In short, you will comfortably reach the windiest point of the lake. Your kite will be inflated by the boat's own compressor and launched in the free area of the lake assisted and reported above the wind in case of need. When the wind stops, you will be taken back to the beach.
The session
The part of the day when you can surf is in the morning between 07:30 till 09:00 / 10:00. The particular geological position of this lake guarantees every day almost the same condition and same wind schedule. The staff is ready to interpret the wind’s condition daily so you will always know in advance if the weather is going to be windy or not.
In this lake, you can surf with two different winds, both in a different hour of the day. The Pelèr blows from the north during the first twelve hours of the day, involving a large part of the Garda Lake. It usually starts blowing from 02:00 or 03:00 until 11:00 or 12:00. First, it affects the northern and central part of the lake, afterward, the entire surface till sunset time. It is a strong wind that forms waves and increases its intensity during the summer. This wind can reach the speed of 13 meters / second, and even more!
The wind Ora blows from the south. It’s well known within surfers and sailors from all over the world. It usually starts blowing around 12:00 / 13:00 until sunset. The Ora achieves its maximum intensity in Malcesine Garda Lake thanks to the geographic conformation of the territory which causes the Venturi effect. This particular condition guarantees a higher wind’s speed and perfect condition for kitesurfing.
