All seven days a week your hosts head out to two different surf spots either by car or boat. The experienced surf guides are there for you for two surf sessions every day. The surf guides are all trained in life-saving and will take you to the appropriate surf spot, give you instructions, and will be with you in the water all the time to give you tips and advice.

For absolute newcomers to surfing, it is recommend you book the Learn-To-Surf package, which is a three-day training course for beginners on Kuta Beach, the perfect preparation for taking part in your daily guided surf tours.

Twice a week, your hosts run a video analysis of your surf sessions to help you see your mistakes and improve on them and up your surf level. You will be riding on the wave of the best surf spots for your level!

The diversity and sheer perfection of the Bali waves is enough to make any surfer's heart miss a beat. No matter what time of year, Bali has constant surf and ideal conditions for beginners, intermediates, and professionals.

The major concept of the Kima Bali Surf Camp is to get to know what's near and far in Bali. Whether it’s shore-break in Dreamland, reef of Bingin, or Kuta's beach, you will be taken to the best waves all around the island.

Depending on the day's conditions, what the participants want to do and their surfing level, the guests take off in small groups by car or boat over and around the island. This way, you can take part in at least 14 surf sessions at the various spots in any one week.

For beginners the many semi-beach breaks on your doorstep are ideal for riding your first green wave and improving your take-off.

For intermediate surfers Bali has a whole series of soft reef breaks and semi-beach breaks in store. Many perfect waves nearby or famous spots a bit further away will push your skills and maybe even make you an advanced surfer by the end of your stay.

The best waves all around Bali are on your schedule, the legendary airport breaks, the classic Bali waves such as Dreamland and Balangan, or the world famous spots like Padang-Padang, Keramas, or Uluwatu.

This is not suitable for absolute beginners or first time surfers

This surf camp will take place at the AB Villa in Seminyak, Bali. It is the only island of the Indonesian Archipelago with Hindu roots, is famous for its world-class surf. Bali’s surf spots, more than 40 of them, are suitable for all surfing levels, from absolute beginners to professionals and, with a water temperature of 26 to 30 degrees Celsius, it can be surfed all year round.

The breathtaking scenery with its luxuriant, tropical vegetation and the famous rice terraces is the setting for ancient ceremonies and worship. The mystical atmosphere is still evident.

During this holiday, you will enjoy a daily breakfast. A good start for the day is served for you every day by the villa service team. Breakfast comprises fresh bread or croissants, eggs, and fruit salad. Coffee and tea are available all day free of charge. The team can arrange anything else you may want for breakfast.

Lunch and dinner

Indo food

The cost of living on Bali is extremely low. A healthy and filling meal like chicken with a side dish will cost around 3 EUR. There are lots of local cuisine restaurants within walking distance. Fruit salads and a filling nasi or mie goreng can be had for less than 2 EUR even on the most remote beaches. A beer at the beach is approximately 1.60 EUR.

Western food

Seminyak in particular has numerous restaurants geared towards the western palate. Just a short stroll away, many international culinary favorites can be found just around the corner at the food boulevard Oberoi, with its many restaurants and cafes. You can ask for the food delivery service from various restaurants nearby.

Do scuba diving

If you’re also interested in what’s going on underneath your surf board, you can check out Bali’s underwater world with licensed dive masters. The coral reefs in the Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai are fascinating with their blaze of colors and a diversity of species.

Enjoy wake boarding or kite surfing

For wake boarding, you will be taken to the Wake Park Bali where you will have access to the brand new facilities. You will learn all the tricks from Bunny Hop to the Indie Aerial.

If you’ve always wanted to try out kite surfing, your Kima Surfari is the perfect opportunity. With a three-level program, you will learn the techniques you need to get into the swing of things six meters above the water, adrenaline rush guaranteed. Flying is hard, landing is harder.

Experience an off-road motor cross

Explore Bali’s amazing landscape in a different way and discover places you normally would never go to. Tracks with different level of difficulty will lead you through small villages, dirt and jungle tracks, rice paddies, steep slopes, and through rivers. An experienced team of guides will accompany you and plenty of helpers of villages nearby will help you to pull yourself and your bike out of the mud if necessary.

Explore Bali

There’s also a lot of culture and different activities to be experienced around the island. Hindu Bali offers a great number of ancient temple sites, royal palaces and rice terraces inland, but also shopping and dining options or trendy hotspots in the coastal cities.

There are different island tours on every day of the week for those looking to explore inland Bali, providing you each day with one or more vehicles including a driver for a small fee. The itineraries include tours to the volcano lakes along rice terraces stopping at old temple sites and waterfalls. More often than not, several guests spontaneously decide to go on a trip together, sharing both fun and costs. These tours can therefore only be booked on site.

You can get to know Bali on your own with one of the minibuses, jeeps, and mountain bikes that are available free of charge for island tours or other activities. You can hire a scooter with a board carrier for a few euros per day. A driver can be organized at our reception for short trips to the supermarket or the ATM.

Make tree top climbing and visit the botanical garden

Make your way through the tree tops, from tree to tree and platform to platform. Experience Bali and its flora and fauna from an altitude of 30 meters and get a real kick abseiling your way down. This is suitable for all age groups and fitness levels.

Relax with yoga

During your stay you can book a private session with a experienced guru. Whatever you like such as sunrise yoga on the beach or breathing exercises in the jungle. The private yoga classes have a duration of approximately one hour and will take place either at the surf camp, on the beach, or in a yoga center nearby.

Take a volcano trekking tour

This trekking tour to the Gunung Agung volcano, which last erupted in 1963, offers the ideal sports offset to your week’s surfing. Take off with Kima Bali Surf Camps on a challenging Bali’s volcano crest at more than 3,100 meters. This trekking tour will take about six hours of climbing. Sturdy shoes are a must! Alternatively, you also can do a trekking tour on the smaller Mount Batur which is far easier.

Try stand up paddle boarding

Kima Surf Camps will make you not quite walking on water, but you will be able to stand up and paddle over the ocean and ride your first wave on your board. Stand up paddling has become a trend sport with more and more fans, the perfect combination of fitness and fun.

Rim' s review of Kima surf camp, Canggu

CONS Cons: I stayed both at the Lodge and Standard bedroom. In both I would say the only thing missing was hangers for towels and shelves for personal belongings in the bathroom (especially in the Lodge where it was a bit crowded with belongings from 6 people at the same time with no space in the bathroom!) Also the bunk beds in the Lodge need to be placed against a wall as it was scary and not comfortable to sleep high above with sheer emptiness on both sides the first couple of nights (luckily I was able to quickly move to a bottom bed!) The A/C in the Lodge was also very noisy, even with ear plugs the noise was so loud it was sometimes hard to sleep. It's also a bit of a shame there was no chill area/sound system in the Lodge... The rooms in the camp were nice but just the same comment about towel hangers above (the ladder is not convenient to hold 2 towels) Also, the rooms are noisy (maybe install a policy for no noise after 10pm instead of 11pm for those who want to go to bed early?) The food was really good but a bit expensive (prices at nearby restaurants were often slightly cheaper for bigger dishes) and it would be great to replace toast bread by real bread (ex: baguettes) at breakfast. Also, the star system is probably by optimal as the biggest majority of the camp was a 2 star level, which included people who surfed only a few days in their lives before all the way to those who surfed a few years but still needed a push in mellow waves...this was often tricky when guides had to dedicate all their attention to just one person who was struggling in the bigger waves due to lack of experience...it would be good to add a level between 2 and 3 stars for those who are comfortable and confident but still can't fully master take-offs, bottom turns, cut backs in all conditions...

PROS Pros: The best features, undeniably, are the location of the camp only a few minutes by foot to one of the best spots in Canggu (Old Man's & Batu Bolong), and the incredibly friendly staff and highly qualified guides! The guide:student ratio (usually 1:3) is perfect for helping us read the waves, be in the right place/right time to catch our waves! That was by far the best surfboard experience ever where I feel I made more progress than in any other camps before! The Kima team is simply amazing, keep up the great work and a million thanks for all tour support, and great vibes! The food was also really good!

Organizer response: Dear Rim, Thank you for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. Kima has only become what it is now with the comments and feedback of our guests from all over the world. Our camps are intricate and much thought goes into the running of each one. As your comments reveal, more attention needs to be put on our facilities, rooms and the room arrangements. All our meals are created for surfers. This means more ingredients and choices to ensure that our food and beverages keep our guests healthy and energized for their next surf session. Focus on the development and skills of our staff needs to increase whether it is in regards to surfing operations or elsewhere. However, we work hard to establish a smooth system so that everything works efficiently, providing our guests with an unforgettable Kima Surf experience. In order to grow from your experience with us, we will have individual discussions with our department leaders (Hotel Management, F&B Management, Surf Camp Management) in regards to your very detailed feedback. We will discuss it with them and learn from the issues during your stay. Improvements will be made on the areas that you have brought to our attention. Thank you again for your open words. Look forward to seeing the changes in the camp we will have made! Best Regards, Kima Surf Team

    KIMA Surf

PROS Pros: I absolutely loved my 5 night stay at KIMA Surf in April! I came as a solo traveller and found the camp extremely social and inclusive which is more than I could ask for. The staff were very friendly and knew all the guests by name. The instructors were full of energy, paid good attention in the water to everybody and gave invaluable advise to improve my surf. Accommodation in the deluxe room was more than comfortable with AC and an ensuite large bathroom. Breakfasts were generous and delicious! I would definitely love to come again !

"It has been a year now from when I stayed a bit more than five weeks at Kima, in Seminyak. I ended up having a blast with the whole Kima crew. They are helpful, super friendly, sweet, and I am missing the Kima breakfast. The food was delicious, light, and cheap. Cleaning was top; when I requested extra towels I got one. They even put up a mosquito net upon my request. I have enjoyed the trips to Single Fin very much and they do have various trips, which they book for you so you can explore Bali. Surf guides were great; they knew their jobs, where to find the best spots and time to surf. They definitely will make sure that you will catch your wave. I will be back at the Kima Camp in Seminyak for sure. Looking forward to the grill evening and the meeting up with the other camp in Canggu."

"I had an amazing week at Kima, in the green room Canggu. Amazing atmosphere, great and helpful staff, amazing surf guides, and they take you to good places to surf. For beginners and for advanced, an amazing place to stay! Nice surf resort, not your average camp. Go! Keep up the good work guys, until soon. Kiki, miss you all."

"I stayed with Kima in Canggu twice and both times I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. There are a couple nice surf breaks about a five or ten-minute walk from the camp or you can always go on the guided surf around the island. The communal spaces are well designed and it contributes to the community of the camp. While the amenities are great, what really makes Kima stand out is the friendly staff, knowledgeable and comedic surf instructors, and electric mix of guests. I definitely recommend Kima for anyone looking to improve their surfing in a friendly and easy-going environment."

"I had an amazing time at KIMASurf camp, in Seminyak. The staff was very friendly and the room was very, very nice (deluxe double room) and clean. The food is amazing and there are lots of choices. I especially liked that you could split the huge breakfast into a part before the surf session and the other part after the surf session. The only thing I would have wished for was some breakfast before the early, early morning sessions (05:30 - 06:00), as I do not have energy for two hours of surfing without anything to eat beforehand, but if you know it, you can always buy some snacks in the supermarket to take for the trip. The surf guides were brilliant, very friendly, funny, and helpful; I learned a lot and improved my surfing. Thank you very much for an amazing time, I will be back for sure!"
