A great trip in great company, despite the dodgy weather at the beginning of the week. Magda's yoga was energising & blissful. Jens patiently got me standing on a surfboard. Albeit briefly! The riad - not the usual one - was stylish & comfortable. The Karma team made it a very sociable & relaxing trip, ideal when travelling solo. What Yassine doesn't know about Essaouira (& who he doesn't know) isn't worth knowing.

The food in the riad & cooked by the Karma team was stunning. Be selective when you're eating out in town - a lot of tourist traps.

I have taught yoga myself extensively for 25 years at "The Life Centre" in Notting Hill London. I appreciated being a student of yoga next to my gorgeous girl. Jenny our yoga teacher was a true inspiration and a lot of fun.Our hosts,Melanie and Yassim were a fantastic and loving divine combination. Essaouira is an awesome place! Everyone should go there,we are already planning on going back.

I stayed at the Karma Surf Retreat in October 2016 and would recommend it, especially if you want to learn or practice German. I'm being somewhat sarcastic :) The resort hosted 15 to 16 people when I was there, and all but one other spoke German. Great effort was made to include us English-speakers (Both guests and staff were all so nice!); therefore, if you want to immerse yourself in German language, it is a great spot.

Doing yoga twice a day and just relaxing in the afternoon was exactly what I needed. I read two books in the space of a week. I also really enjoyed the mountain biking; challenging at times but very fun! Lots of climbing and the guide (Isa) was phenomenal. Great to chat with and also provided good instruction and tips while we were out on the trails. If I were to go back again, I would take one afternoon and go into Cascais by taxi (super cheap in Portugal) and spend a few hours walking around the city. The weather in October wasn't bad.

I was still able to eat my breakfast outside each morning although I did wear a sweater. Evenings were pretty cool. There's not much around the resort for evening activities except to read and chill, so it's a great opportunity to catch up on sleep - which we all needed! If you're traveling there solo, expect to share a room with another person. The breakfast buffet is the best! I couldn't get enough of the fruit, fresh bread and the coffee!

It was a perfect week at Karma Surf Retreat Algarve. The booking procedure was smooth. The villa was beautiful and calm. There is enough space for everyone. Sabine and Jamie were great hosts - very friendly, helpful and always there when needed. Catja and Tanja did a great job as well providing us delicious breakfast and lunch every day. The welcome and lunch bbq were very yummy, too.

Our yoga teachers Igor and Jenny prepared us very well for our surf classes. The morning classes were more strengthening and the evening classes were more stretching and relaxing. Our surf teachers Duarte and Francisco were very eager to get us standing on the board. They were also very successful :) The combination of Yoga and surfing is perfect. We were a great group. We spent a lot of time together and had a blast. We all want to come back again - soon! Thank you, Karma :) Karma-Lover forever!

Where to start! This holiday was the best decision I took in my life. First time solo traveler and I never felt so good. Karma is just an amazing experience with amazing genuine people. Jessica welcomed us like a friend with her shinning personality. The program based on Yoga and surfing was just perfect! I loved Manon and Filipa as Yoga teachers, they completed each other so well, and both are so generous and inspiring individuals! Vasco our surf teacher was the highlight of my holidays, always positive and professional. The people I met there will stay in my heart for a long time. A special thank you to Leonor who cooked for us all week and was our little mama during our stay. Her food was just delicious! Just don’t hesitate to go there, enjoy the experience 100% and you will never forget it! I will be back soon!

I was not entirely sure what to expect form this holiday and had been (with other companies) to similar breaks in Morocco - however I would strongly recommend this company and this break, if you are looking for a relaxing time in a lovely location. The rooms were extremely nice and the staff could not do enough for you / to make the visit a pleasant experience. The food (although named as vegetarian) was very good and included fish and a number of traditional Portuguese dishes. It is a reasonable distance to good restaurants, so I would suggest going for the food package (for the evening meal) unless you have a car - it is also more sociable! I went on the 'climbing package' and it was good to go climbing for a few hours in the morning and then have the rest of day free to explore / walk / relax. You can also pay for a shuttle (cheaper than taxis) to pick you up at various times from the airport. However taxis are also cheap to get around to this very pretty part of Portugal. Would strongly recommend !!!

This was one of the best holidays I have ever been on! I can't say enough about Karma Retreat and its staff :) I am a 28 year old female and have always wanted to do a yoga/surf retreat, so while I was living in London I decided to go on a solo trip for the first time. I was there with 3 other girls and we bonded so well and the best time :) The surfing was amazing and the yoga was so relaxing, we learnt so much and had the most wonderful teachers :) The staff members at Karma were more like family! So warm and welcoming, Jessica was like a sister :) We went out for dinner in Lisbon and watched the sunset at Guincho beach :) The food and accommodation at Karma is like 5 star! I would go back a million times over and hope that everyone can experience this amazing place, and have an adventure to always remember like I had :)

I had an amazing week in Karma Surf at SUP & Yoga retreat. Everything (the villa, sceneries around, the staff, food, like minded people and programme, etc.) was absolutely perfect. The concept was brilliant: everything was carefully planned and guests don't have to worry about anything. It felt like being in luxury villa and at home at the same time. There was a gorgeous view from the terrace of the villa to Atlantic Ocean and if you sometimes felt lazy, there were hammocks and nice pool area for just to relax. Delicious and healthy breakfast was provided daily and dinner made by Leonoor were just so delicious (you have to try the lasagne)! I definitely will come back! Namaste!

Overall the experience was good, I enjoyed the activities and the relaxed programme. The people were friendly and the hosts (Jessie) were mostly at hand to offer recommendations. However, the water-based activities are run by a partner and not by Karma. This meant that these could be quite poorly organised in terms of transportation and timings. The classes were shorter than promised and the transportation was unreliable. It would have been nice to have someone from Karma present more often, the host Jessi and tour operators were often away surfing or taking a day off. The yoga was good for beginners but didn't allow for individuals to improve their practise further. There is wifi in the house but this does not reach to some of the rooms.

Last year my daughter and I went to Karma for the first time and fell in love with the place, the team, the teachers and their philosophy. So it was inevitable that we'd go again. This year, I travelled solo and the whole experience was just as special. I felt taken care of, met some like minded people, had such fun and had time to relax, unwind, take stock and also got to explore nearby places - Cascais, Sintra.... I will be back, hopefully not alone next year... Thank you all so much - Leonora, Jessi, Silvia, Timo and Jans.

We stayed at the Karma Surf retreat and took part in the surf lessons on Guincho beach. The trip was amazing cause we got the chance to meet and befriend such a lovely group of people from around the globe! And of course the great pack of people who stood behind the whole thing. Especially Leonore, Jessika and last but not least Partick! As I said on the last days; The everyday (named above) people at the house really brings the Karma into the Karma Surf Retreat! Otherwise it would just be a Surf Retreat :) We are already looking at next years surf & yoga trip! Definitely again!

I actually don't have anything negative to say about my stay at the karma surf retreat except I wish it was longer. The whole team went over and above what I expected, providing travel arrangements and arranging activities according to when you want them and there was no pressure to do everything. Jessi is pretty much on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and full of enthusiasm. Exactly who you want representing your facilities. Many thanks to you all, it was my first time at the retreat but definitely not a forgettable one.

Our family of four (children aged 5 and 7) decided to spend a week in Portugal in July to get a taste of surfing and do some yoga. The retreat indeed arranged this very well and though neither my husband nor I will ever be great surfers, we had a lot of fun trying. Our youngest child did not like the surfing but this was no problem as babysitting was easily available. Although the retreat is mainly set-up as a house party we were put up in a lovely little cottage 1-minute walk from the main house. The big plusses are that everything is seamlessly arranged with absolutely lovely breakfasts and lunches (The healthiest breakfast I ever encountered so far). Dinner options are good and plentiful within 15-minute driving radius. Other big plus is location, location, location, probably one of the best places to stay in Portugal. We rented a car and therefore could easily reach a great number of attractions: Lisbon (25 minute), Cascais (10 minute), Guincho beach (5 minute), Sintra mountains with its fairytale castles and gardens (20 minute). Timo and Jens who run the place do a very good job in making everything run smoothly and people feel welcomed. There were couples, groups of friends, single people and families present when we stayed and I think all of them had a great time. I felt it to be a very nice alternative for a family with young children to a week's resort holiday. Definite a feel-good experience.
