Accommodation

The apartments and accommodation that Kailua Surf School offers are located in Corralejo, near the best Fuerteventura surf spots. The apartments are located in strategically convenient places of the towns—near restaurants, cafes, shops for surfers, and many more.

Program

At Kailua Surf School Fuerteventura, both surf lessons and surf courses take place every day from Monday to Sunday between 08:00 and 16:00, depending on ocean tides. The surf course is four hours a day (including transfers to the beach). Surf lessons and surf courses are held in beautiful North Shore spots. Their highly qualified surfing instructors pick each surf spot for the day's best conditions.

On the surf course day, Kailua Surf School will pick you up from where you are staying and choose the proper surf gear (surfboard, wetsuit, etc.) for you. Afterward, they will drive to the beach. During the course, you will acquire the basics of surfing theory, such as understanding the ocean, wave conditions, and safety in the water. They will also do theoretical surf exercises.

After the entertaining warm-up, they will have a lot of practical activities arranged for you, so the majority of the surf lessons and course time will be spent practicing in the water. The surf instructors will be in the water with you, pointing out the best waves, helping you catch them, and giving feedback to help you improve your surfing technique. After your surf lesson, Kailua will bring you back to your hotel, apartment, or surf camp.

Yoga sessions

Yoga activities take place on a silent beach at the ocean. The yoga instructor knows very well which yoga exercises will help not only to warm the muscles but also to stand on a surfboard easier and relax after surfing. You will be able to improve your surfing skills not only in the ocean waves but also riding a skateboard on the roads of Fuerteventura towns.

Surf spots

El Cotillo

An impressive wild, wide sandy beach. The beach breaks with a lot of peaks with waves breaking both left and right. It is suitable for surfing at all stages of the tide. Suitable for both beginners and advanced surfers.

Los Lobos

A point break with the perfect right. This spot is best at mid-tide. Suitable for advanced surfers only. This spot is popular among the local surfers, so be respectful of them in the water.

Location

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is a Canary Island famous for its 150 kilometers of sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and natural landscapes. Fuerteventura is considered to be one of the best surf places in the world because of its perfect weather conditions brought by the Atlantic Ocean and long sandy beaches.

Surfers from all over the world visit the island to ride waves, and it is also a perfect place for those eager to learn surfing. The northern part of Fuerteventura is one of the most beautiful and suitable areas for surfing. In the north, you can find surf spots for all levels of surfers, from constant beginner-friendly waves to challenging point-break waves with tubes for advanced surfers.

Corralejo

Corralejo is a town and resort located on the northeast tip of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, facing the small island of Lobos. At approximately two miles, it is the largest holiday resort in Fuerteventura. Corralejo remains a traditional fishing village, but there are also many new buildings and hotels behind and beside it. Corralejo has managed to retain its original charm and atmosphere, and there are still white sandy beaches in the town center, where you can 'drop down' and soak up the Canarian sunshine.

Corralejo is surrounded by the most impressive and beautiful beaches in Europe. There are two small sandy beaches in the town and they are usually very crowded. The most impressive beaches are situated just south of Corralejo in the Parque Natural de Corralejo. The name of the beach is Grandes Playas.

It is a long sandy beach with Turkish clean water and big sand dunes. Its a lonely beach, but walking along it, you can find some naturists walking, but don’t be embarrassed as its usual in Fuerteventura. Corralejo Beach, Grandes Playas, has the prestigious Blue Flag Award. This is awarded to meet certain standards and is based on 27 criteria like water quality, environmental management, and safety.

Nightlife in Corralejo is laid back compared to the other main Canary Islands, but for sure is the best in all of Fuerteventura. In Corralejo, a party scene takes place in and around the main street. You can visit some live music bars, like Rock Island, Corner Rock, or a surf bar, Tequila Beach.

The young wild surfer crowd usually does the tour of the surf bars starting in Buena Onda surf bar, then going to Banana bar or Tequila beach bar (live music from 22:00 to 24:00), and finishing the night in Waikiki discotheque. The party is pretty much the same every evening!

Food

Meals are not included in this package. Corralejo offers plenty of restaurants. There are over 100 restaurants in the resort that cater for pretty much every cuisine on the planet, so whether its Chinese, Italian, Tipico Canario, Indian, British, or Irish cuisine, you will be spoilt for choice, and you will never be too far away from the traditional Sunday lunch!

The best restaurants are mainly situated in the Corralejo Bay, facing into the ocean and little Island Los Lobos. While you try some local dishes, you can enjoy looking at the beautiful sightseeing of Corralejo Bay and the small island (Los Lobos). In general, a meal for four people, including drinks, will cost around 50 EUR.

Things to do (optional)

Day trip to Lanzarote

If you are bored of Corralejo, you have a perfect one-day tour escape to Lanzarote Island. Its only a 20-minute boat ride from Corralejo port to Playa Blanca. Rent a car in the port and go around the island, exploring the volcano park and diving to the Lanzarote famoues Caves of Jameos del Agua. Visit local wineries in Lanzarote.

Kitesurf and windsurf

There are a few kitesurfing spots and beaches close to Corralejo. Most of them are south of the town on the east coast. The first one is Flag Beach; five kilometers south is Glass Beach, also called El Burro. On the west coast is El Cotillo, 20 kilometers from Corralejo. If you would like to rent kitesurfing or kiteboarding gear, you will be asked to prove your kitesurfing level with an IKO or VDWS card. Kite and board rental for one day is around 50 EUR.
