Joyu Surf Shack has five rooms. There are three double rooms that come with queen-sized beds and en-suite shower with toilet and sink. There are two shared rooms with four comfortable and solid, fully wooden handmade bunk beds. Enjoy the garden which is the best chilling spot before or after a surf session. The house is walking distance to the beach, supermarkets, and center of the village. Public transports and bike rental are just around the corner.

The private double room consists of a queen size bed and en-suite private bathroom ensuite. You will share with three other travelers if you're in the shared rooms. Your bed is equipped with curtains, so you have more privacy during your sleep. You have access to a private locker. Each room has its own bathroom. Feel free to use all common areas as you please.

Program

The Basque Country and the southern part of the region ‘Les Landes’ are a paradise for surfers. Along the Atlantic coastline one surf spot follows the next one. From Beach break in Anglet to Reef Break in Guethary, there is always a wave to surf regardless of tide, wind, swell, and season.

More spots, more surf!

With an experienced local guide, you will discover a large variety of surf spots: from the most famous to the most wild and challenging. Depending on the weather and your wishes he will drive you to the best spots. More than 50 spots are waiting for you, none further than 40 minutes! There will be a minimum of three sessions per day. Don't worry about the conditions, the parking, the way to go, the lunch facilities. Joyu Surf Shack will take care of all this, and you just enjoy the surf.

Surf guiding from the Basque Country to the Landes (for intermediate and advanced levels)

Take advantage of the experience of a local guide who will know how to find the right spot, at the right tide with the right conditions according to your level! In small groups of 6 people maximum, departure in the morning aboard the 4x4 with the boards chosen in the morning from the Joyu quiver, we check different spots and go surfing together far from the busiest places on the coast in order to take advantage of the waves and discover as many spots as possible. Lunch is on the beach or at the surf house with a delicious homemade lunchbox before going back to surfing in the afternoon.

This option is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers (surfing “hard” boards, bar passage, autonomous in the water, waves from 50 cm to 1.50 m).

Surf spots

Parlementia / Bidart

Between Bidart and Guethary this wave breaks on a rocky plateau. Parlamentia can be surfed at all tides and any swells. It is well known by the locals for its straight line and length and works even at big swells. Favoured by long boarders it was once the playground of a certain Miki Dora.

Les Cavaliers / Anglet

One of the best beach breaks in southern France… the trough of this wave can be very strong. With the right swell fans of powerful barrels will fall in love with 'Les Cavaliers'.

Hossegor / Capbreton

The southern part of “Les Landes” is home to several beach breaks, which are among the best in Europe: La gravière, les culs nuls, Santocha etc... depending on the weather, your guide will drive you to the best tubes of “Les Landes”.

Zarautz - Mundaka / Spain

Spain’s northern coast offers lots of little treasures that are waiting to be surfed. Less known than the French spots and therefore not as busy, these Spanish spots have their own charm – your guide will show them to you. Without a doubt, Manduka is the best lefthander barrel in Europe. Come and see for yourself.

The ever present passion for surfing has travelled my adventurous spirit to many far and hidden corners of the world – always a board under my arm and full of curiosity, ready to share the respective surf culture. The ocean and nature in general have been always part of my life and they have awakened a deep connection and love to it - and the desire to move in nature and to grow above my limits. With the degree certificates as a surf life saver, first aider and ‚MovNat‘ trainer I am able to share my passions and to pass on my knowledge.

Ayurvedic massages

Marko will introduce you to the wellbeing of Ayurvedic massages. Enjoy their relaxing, vitalizing, and healing effects. In India, Ayurveda is part of traditional medicine and is an essential element of daily life. Your muscles and your immunity will get reinvigorated while you will regain your body awareness.

Yoga classes

Joakim will teach you the Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga. The love for the surf-inspired Joakim to create a special course 'Yoga for surfers' which will be held every Friday. He emphasizes the spiritual part where you concentrate on your breathing and your body awareness. The course is in English and French.

Cancellation Policy

A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
