Beautiful place, so warm and accommodating. Our three children got amazing healthy breakfast with fruits, shakes and pancakes every morning. We stay there for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. Pool for kids and yoga lessons for parents. the manager and the owner are very warm and nice people who were very attentive and responsive. The whole energy of the place is positive and warm.
Spend the first night in the Indigo yogas Hostel, which is basic, but fine. Moved to the resort on the other side of the road for 2 nights in a beautiful, very clean room with outdoor shower. and own terrace. The staff + owner is nice and helpful. Nice breakfast, lovely pool area+ garden, near beach. In total a great experience. Will definitely recommend this place.
We did 4 days of Yoga and Surf retreat in the Indigo Resort. We had such a great time!!! We had 1,5 hours of different yoga styles each day and 1,5 hours of surf lesson. The yoga teachers were all very good, kind and helpful. The surf teacher, Ramon, is a pro and really taught us a lot in this short amount of time. He picked us up each day and drove with us to a good surf spot.
Additionally we had an hour horsebackridding on the beach which was also amazing!
The whole staff of Indigo was very kind and made us feel at home. Special thanks to Nicolle for accepting our reservation on so short notice and for getting back to us and confirming so quickly.
The food, thanks to the staff in the kitchen, tastes delicious and is so healthy.
I definetly recommend this place. It is just a paradise!!!

We loved everything about Indigo. The bungalow apartments are super clean, modern and carry a zen vibe. The private outdoor showers and bathrooms are so fun! The hotel is located right across from stunning playa mal pais. We walked down to the playa at night with drinks to watch the breathtaking sunsets! The grounds are well maintained tropical gardens home to varieties of birds and even monkeys in the trees! The pool lounge andyoga practice area are truly luxurious. The restaurant served fresh healthy daily options. We were on a 2 week road trip around the Nicoya Peninsula (very ambitious and risky) & Indigo was by far our most favorite stay!

The original hotel I was booked at had new owners and somehow my reservation was lost between the two. They found me a reservation at Indigo, and I loved it here. The rooms were spacious with a kitchen, bedroom, and indoor/outdoor bathroom. The shower is outdoors with beautiful, molded concrete walls. The patio area had two chairs and a hammock. The on-site manager was always friendly and available to help. The pool area was beautiful as well. My only comment would be that if you have small children you may not want to stay in their rooms they call apartments. Their walls are rather thin, and my neighbors were very noisy one evening. I don't know if you would want to explain that to your children...
Our absolute favorite part, though, was the restaurant. If you stay here, you must eat at least one night in the restaurant. The chef is amazing! There is no menu, but each day he decides what to make after he meets with the fishermen and finds out what is fresh to make for dinner. He has a couple of appetizer options and a couple of entrée options. Once he found out I couldn't eat seafood, there just so happened to be chicken options on the menu the next couple of nights. (That is how amazing his food was, we ate there our second night when we were tired and ate there the rest of our stay!)
We spent 3 nights in the hotel and everything was amazing. The stuff is very nice. The common spaces in the hotel premises are insane and very clean: pool, garden, yoga area, etc. The rooms are spacious and decoration is nice and minimalist.
We had an outdoors bathroom. So cool! The breakfast was good. Regular food, natural squeezed juice and coffee. In my opinion, something to improve would be the poor lightning in the room. I believe it is as is on purpose but we could barely read at night.
Overall, it has been an incredible experience and we strongly recommend it!

Indigo Hotel is such a zen space to stay in! We planned on staying two nights but ended up extending because of how awesome the hotel and the area was! For the facilities, the pool is simply stunning and perfect temperature. The rooms are exactly like on the pictures, which was a surprise because they are so nice! They were extremely spacious, the outdoor but indoor shower was very big and quite stunning, and overall the room was perfect. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The landscaping was also pretty exotic and this really made us feel like the owners truly cared about the hotel. The yoga center is very large and has all the necessary equipment to enjoy a peaceful yoga session in a tropical setting. Mathias was an excellent staff member and went above and beyond his jobs to help us out and find the bests spots to relax, eat, and surf! Ask him about the secret beach or the stunning Montezuma waterfall, it's totally worth it!Ben, the owner's husband, went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. He's also has an amazing surf school in the city center and he gave us a great surfing lesson! Definitely check this hotel out the next time you are in Mal Pais! The previous negative reviews might be from the previous owners as the management changed recently like Ben told us. Just one tip, if you are like us and don't have transportation, it is absolutely recommended to rent an ATV in town to get to and from this hotel. Although it is not central, its worth the ride out of town for the peace and quiet in this heavenly spot! Also, check out the nearby beach restaurant for the most amazing beach views in Mal Pais!

This hotel is now under new management for the past year. The room, bed, and washroom were clean and spacious. I felt very comfortable with my stay. The owner was very pleasant and kind. I recommend this hotel.

I was lucky enough to visit Indigo as a retreat I presented at was hosted here. It was an absolute pleasure! The food was amazing - at each meal, we were blown away by the culinary creations, the presentation through to the flavor and finishing off with a delicious dessert; healthy, filling, and inventive. They were also very happy to accommodate the different dietary restrictions of members of our group. The rooms were simple but clean and spacious. The beds super comfy, the bathrooms are amazing! The outdoor shower has an abundance of hot water and great water pressure. The yoga classes were perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the yoga shala as a space to meditate, dance, and stretch - even when classes were not happening. The staff was overwhelmingly accommodating and they offer great excursions. The surf lessons are really great - I didn't attend but many in my group did and they were raving. Overall, Indigo is a gem and worth the slightly longer drive through Santa Teresa to the quieter location of Indigo - yet still just down the street to the hustle and bustle of Santa Teresa.

I recently had the opportunity to take part in a professional development retreat for hoopdance teachers at Indigo. This property was taken over by a lovely couple, Ben and Francesca late last year. They have made so many beautiful improvements. There are three different types of accommodations, all with their own charm and amenities. We stayed in the Monkey Apartment which features a full kitchen, indoor and outdoor shower, air conditioning, and a lockbox. The rooms are very reasonably priced as well. The yoga shala is huge and the perfect place for a bunch of hoop dancers to get their groove on! Besides the shala and rooms, there is a gorgeous pool and a fantastic restaurant onsite which fed us the most incredible meals every day. The restaurant is owned by a sweet Tico man named Pedro who makes every dish with so much love. I cannot say enough good things about Indigo, I would recommend this spot for any yoga and/or hoop groups that want to come for a retreat!
We wanted a very relaxed place to finish our travels in Costa Rica and have usually rather high expectations on the hotels we're staying at. We stayed three nights at Indigo Surf and loved the experience. The rooms were very clean and large and the outdoor showers contributed to the relaxed feeling and closeness to nature. The food was excellent and very tasty especially the amazing smoothies! I wanted to learn how to surf and Ramon, the son of the owners who gives group or private lessons, had me on the board catching my own waves after just two lessons despite it only being my second time on a surf board. The only downside is that it is a little far away but if you have a quad or bike, it is no problem otherwise taxis are cheap and easily available. There is also a fantastic yoga temple where yoga classes are taught each morning. My travel companion took a few classes and was very impressed by the teacher. All around an extremely pleasant experience and very welcoming. Can highly recommend.
