I surf Portugal surf camp brings you the best of Portugal in one surfing holiday package. I surf Portugal Surf Camp is based in a hostel in the center of Póvoa de Varzim (Porto district). It is based in the center of the beach town with lots of cafés, shops, entertainment, and of course, the beach.
You will be sleeping in new bunk beds in a shared room or you can have your own private bedroom for two for a little extra, or even a family room for four people just for you, just ask when you book. All bed linens and towels are provided.
The surf camp has a TV where you will see your surfing videos of the week and free Wi-Fi. There is a patio to chill with a beer or a glass of wine and read a book, or just get to know some new friends.
The surf program is made for beginners and intermediate as well as you will receive a surf certificate in accordance with your ability by the end of the course. Advanced surfers can also join and make the most of I surf Portugal's local knowledge. The surf lessons are organized to make sure you learn all the skills to become a real surfer. You will understand all the basics of surfing and will be able to stand on the board and do some turns by the end of the week. You will have five days of surf lessons in the water plus theory lessons where you will learn surf etiquette, how to read waves, the best beaches to practice, etc. The surf lessons are about three hours each and you will be in groups of eight per instructor to ensure you progress quickly. I surf Portugal will choose the best time of day to have the lessons depending on the wave conditions and tides. The lessons are mainly taught in English, French, Spanish, and obviously Portuguese!
Teresa, the surf camp yoga teacher has over 20 years of practice. Her specialty nowadays is Power yoga, a fitness-based practice derived from Hatha yoga. The practice of yoga in this surf camp will be outdoors as much as possible: on the patio, on the grass at a beautiful park, or on the beach at sunset. All classes are tailor-made for you and your abilities.
I surf Portugal offers plenty of other activities outside of the surf lessons. There is a day trip to Porto once a week where you will discover why it was voted the best European destination of 2017. I surf Portugal also has other activities that can be booked once at the surf camp such as SUP, Bike rides, tennis, horse riding, kayak, golf, and more, to ensure you make the most out of your holiday.
There is a one-day organized tour of Porto during the week included in the price. You will discover this amazing UNESCO World Heritage city that won European best destination in 2017 as well as you can try tasty Portuguese food specialties and taste some Port wine.
Teresa has over 20 years of practice. Her specialty nowadays is Power yoga, a fitness-based practice derived from Ashtanga yoga. The practice of yoga at the surf camp will be outdoors as much as possible; on the patio, on the grass at a beautiful park, or on the beach at sunset.
Miguel is a Physical Education teacher, a swimming instructor, and a keen surfer. He has been surfing for over 13 years. His surfing experience combined with his teaching skills and experience dealing with both adults and kids makes him a very popular instructor.
Jorge has an international experience having lived in the UK, France, and Australia. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a different way to see things. He caught the surf "bug" while living in Australia although he has always been interested in surf and water sports. Jorge is a qualified surf instructor, certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
The surf camp is located in the town center of Povoa de Varzim (district of Porto), a beach town that two-minute walk to the beach. It is close to great surf spots to learn and improve your surfing or even enjoy great surfing conditions if you are an advanced surfer.
Ofir and Azurara are great beaches on the Atlantic North Coast of Portugal to learn and improve your surfing. They are sandy beaches with beach breaks. Póvoa de Varzim and Aguçadoura are amazing for advanced surfers and are famous surfing spots for their left-hand waves.
Póvoa de Varzim is a great holiday town as it has all the entertainment needed, cafés, bars, restaurants, and shops. It has many outdoor activities in the summer such as free street concerts. The biggest party itself is being held in Sao Pedro on June 29 where you will experience the biggest street party you have seen. Póvoa de Varzim is ideally located with a direct metro line to the center of Porto. The surf camp is centrally located and walking distance to everything, including the beach, bars, restaurants, and the metro line.

Food is not included. However, Portugal is famous for having very tasty and fresh food at a reasonable price. Breakfast will cost you between 2 EUR and 3 EUR, lunch between 5 EUR and 7.50 EUR, and dinner 15 EUR or less with everything included. I surf Portugal has made some partnerships with local restaurants to offer you the best food at a special price. All these restaurants also offer vegetarian food. There is also a supermarket next to the accommodation.
