Enjoy a great family holiday by the beach where parents and children can have a fun and relaxed time. Kids can learn to surf while parents can just relax knowing that their children are in good hands. Parents can also surf or do some yoga while the kids are looked after by the nannies. The camp had been created with families in mind as the owner is also the proud dad of two beautiful boys.
The Camping Orbitur Angeiras surf camp is surrounded by big trees that provide shade to relax or nap even in the heat of the day. In the common area, you’ll find an equipped kitchen with a shared fridge and several hobs. You can also visit the surf camp bar to grab a refreshing drink after a long, sunny day on the beach.
Your family will stay in a spacious glamping style family tipi tent for four people.
The tents are 3.50 meters high and 6 m wide so they are very spacious for the whole family, and are equipped with one double bed for the parents and two single beds for the children, all with comfortable premium mattresses, and including all bedding (bedsheets, duvets, pillows). You can add an extra mattress or a baby cot if needed.
Tents also have storage space, lighting, and electricity to charge your phones and electronics. The camp will provide you with dishes and cutlery for the full family.
I surf Portugal also has baby cots available that they can install in your tent. They have high chairs in the eating area as well. At the sanitary block, there is a baby bath and a changing table. You can access the open guest kitchen in case you need to prepare any special meals for your little one.
If you have a family bigger than four or would like a separate tent for the teenagers, you can always book an additional mini tipi tent with one or two additional beds.
I surf Portugal has an accreditation from the Tourism of Portugal as a ´clean and safe establishment according to health measures. For any questions about this, please feel free to send an inquiry.
The word "glamping" comes from the words Glamorous and Camping. It is a form of camping with accommodation and facilities more luxurious than traditional camping. The tents you will be sleeping in are very spacious bell tents with premium mattresses and all bedding, light, and electricity provided. They are perfect for a family.
The surf camp has a kitchen with fridges that you can use, a couple of chill zones, board and card games, bikes, skates, and a bar for the parents. The camping park also has a playground, a swimming pool, a sports court, a restaurant, a minimarket, and sanitary blocks.
This is the perfect beach and surf holiday for families with children of any age, including teenagers and young adults. I surf Portugal is also a certified sustainable surf camp, and has the ´Clean & Safe´ seal of approval!
This surf camp is shaped by families for families. Everything had been made with families in mind. The camp is walking distance to the beach (between five and 10 minutes' walk). The campsite has great facilities for families and kids, and I surf Portugal's instructors and crew are really good with kids.
Every member of your family can find the perfect holiday fit! The camp offers different activities of all sorts - from beach games to yoga and of course, surfing. Apart from adult surf lessons for every level, the I Surf Portugal team has specialized surf lessons for kids.
Surfing is not only for kids but for adults too! You will join the adult surf lessons in groups of a maximum six to eight surfers per instructor, based on your level. So, whether you are an absolute beginner or can already surf, I surf Portugal has got you covered!
The surfing spot is about 15 to 20 minutes' drive from the camp and transfers are included for the surf lessons. The beach is perfect for all levels.
The family surf camp will also be an amazing experience for teenagers who are eager to make new friends and enjoy a week filled with surfing and fun activities. Throughout the week, they will not only improve their surfing techniques but will also create lasting memories and friendships.
Whether they are beginners or have some experience, I surf Portugal's surf camp offers a supportive and exciting environment for all teenagers to thrive and have a fantastic time.
Kids' surf lessons are taught in small groups of four to six children per instructor in a fun and safe environment (younger ones will be in smaller groups). Surf lessons are available for kids aged eight years old and above.
Kids' lessons can be taught in English, German, Portuguese, and French so your children will be able to understand everything. You can always join and translate if needed.
The camping park has a great swimming pool where your kids will want to spend time in when they are not surfing. The local beach is only seven minutes' walk so you'll be able to enjoy the sea and sun with the kids when you´re tired of the pool.
Your family can use the camp's bikes, skates, balls, cards, and board games at any time. There is also a playground as well as football, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts, and mini golf. The camping park also organizes a kids' club every afternoon.
Yoga helps to increase core strength and flexibility. It's also a nice relaxing time when you are in touch with the elements. I surf Portugal's yoga classes are for adults and teenagers and are taught outdoors. The classes can be booked online or onsite. You can also decide to join only one or a few classes as you feel like.
While parents are having fun surfing, I surf Portugal's nannies will look after the younger kids. This service is available at no extra cost when all parents have surf lessons. You can relax knowing that your little ones (who are too young to surf) are in good hands.
When the sun goes down, join I surf Portugal around the campfire for a few drinks and some good vibes. You'll get to know the crew and the other families. Throughout the week, there will be a few activities, including a pub quiz, movie night, cocktail night, etc.
I surf Portugal's photographer will take some beautiful pictures of your family surfing, which they will show at the end of the week. These are great memories that you will want to show your family and friends. So, when you catch a wave, remember to look at the camera and smile.
I surf Portugal loves the ocean and the planet. This is the reason why they went through a process of certification by Biosphere to be recognized as a sustainable surf camp and company. This means that they are environmentally conscious, support the local community, and align with the 17 sustainable development goals of the UN.

The surf camp is based in the north of Portugal, on a little beach village called Lavra in the municipality of Matosinhos about 15 km north of Porto. The surf camp is set in the camping park of Orbitur Angeiras, a campsite certified and recognized for the quality of its services and its facilities.
The family surf camp is set in a camping park 10 minutes' walk from the beach in a little fisherman's beach town next to Porto, and 15 minutes' drive to the surf spot. It has free Wi-Fi, shower blocks with continuous hot water, a mini-market, restaurant, bar, self-service, social halls, a swimming pool, sports courts, and a ping-pong table.
The family package includes a breakfast buffet with a selection for every taste. For dinner, the chef prepares fresh and tasty international dishes, including salad and dessert five evenings a week (drinks are not included). The camp can cater to vegetarian and vegan diets, too.
On the two days of the week without dinner (Mondays and Wednesdays), you´ll have the opportunity to try one of the many local restaurants to dive into the Portuguese food culture. The camp is based in a small fisherman's village and is surrounded by many fresh fish and seafood restaurants, which I surf Portugal recommends that you try!
If you prefer, you can also use the fully equipped kitchen anytime to prepare some food. Once onsite, you can also decide to sign up for an optional lunch package, which the team will deliver to you on the beach.
Wednesday will be your free day. There will be no lessons nor activities. It will be your chance to visit Porto and discover the amazing UNESCO World Heritage city that had won as the best European destination a few times already.
Immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture, wander in the small streets of the historic center of Porto, and try a "pastel de nata" (Portuguese custard tart) and some Port wine. Porto is close to the camp and is within easy access by taxi or public transport.
On-spot activities include a variety of other activities and services on camp, such as yoga lessons and skate lessons.

You will receive the details after booking with all the information on how to get to the surf camp. Here are some details:
Please book your flight to arrive at Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO). Airport transfer is not provided. Porto Airport (OPO) is about 10 minutes' drive from the camp.
You can take a taxi from Porto Airport (easiest and quickest). There are always many taxis at the airport. You can get a taxi from there directly without booking. If you prefer booking one in advance, you can always use the Uber app. The price of a taxi ride is between 10 and 15 EUR.
If you will arrive by car, enter the following address into your navigation system: Camping Orbitur Angeiras, Rua de Angeiras - Lavra, 4455-039 Matosinhos.
You can park your car at the external car park of the campsite or inside the campsite. Both come with additional costs payable upon arrival directly to the camping park.
Once you arrive at the campsite Orbitur Angeiras, go to the reception and let them know that you’re staying with I Surf Portugal and they will guide you to the surf camp. In the evening, you will meet with the rest of the crew and the other guests to enjoy a welcome meal together!
Public transport from Porto Airport or Porto center (longest): Although it is not far at all, it is quite complicated and long to get to the surf camp by public transport as you will have to get to Porto center by metro from the airport and then take a bus (which has many stops before reaching the final destination).
From the airport, take the metro (purple line) to "Sete Bicas." From there, take the bus line 104 to Orbitur Angeiras. Ask I surf Portugal for more information.
