During this surf camp, you will be staying at Nature Madeira Guest House in a twin or single room which is located on the beautiful village of Porto da Cruz. This property is a two-minute walk from the beach. Set in Porto da Cruz, Nature Madeira Guest House offers accommodation with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen television.
There is also a kitchen in some of the units equipped with a dishwasher and a microwave. Guests at the homestay can enjoy a continental breakfast. A bicycle rental service is available at Nature Madeira Guest House, while cycling can be enjoyed nearby.
Madeira Nature surf and yoga retreat is a five-day course. Each day is divided into three parts, morning session yoga, one hour of surf theory, surf lesson, photo analysis, and yoga session.
Calhau Surf School is committed to taking you surfing in the best conditions, the day’s schedule is flexible and will change accordingly. They need mid tide to surf so your surf sessions and theory may take place in the morning or afternoon depending on the tides and the winds.
Calhau Surf School has highly qualified, experienced, and motivating surf instructors who will take you to the surf spots, in the best conditions and with a top of the range equipment. Each surf session is taught in a fun, no-pressure manner and is adapted to the personal needs of each guest. All sessions will be suited to according to your level.
An hour yoga session twice a day is designed to complement your surfing. The yoga will not only improve your balance and offer a welcomed relief to sore muscles from all the surfing but a chance to refocus and settle your mind after the adrenaline of the day.
During this surf camp, you will be visiting Funchal and also go for hiking.
Ana is the manager, with extensive experience in the management of various companies on the island of Madeira. Owner of the surf school, she also surfs. Having found the sport at age 39, she participated and won some female surf competitions on the island of Madeira. Ana traveled the world and knew some of the best surf spots. She speaks French, English, and Portuguese.
Cecilio Faria aka Cecil, exalted waterman sports, won a title of Regional Bodyboard Champion and participated in several events of the National Circuit. He practices surfing daily and his shortboard has passed through all the waves of Madeira. He also has music as a hobby, as a DJ, he has performed in various bars and music festivals. He speaks Portuguese and English.
Dan is a Swedish-born snowboarder who emigrated to Madeira in 2005, he is the newest addition to the team. He helped introducing longboard skating some 10 years ago on the island and have since then progressed in his surfing with each year passing. Dan speaks Swedish and English.
Emilie is a woman, a mother, a yoga teacher, and a traveler, and is passionate about life. Her biggest adventure started when she was pregnant, when she awakened to a more conscious, healthier, and holistic way of life. She has now been teaching yoga for six years, with people of all ages, and on the most beautiful locations of the island. Her mission is to share yoga with everybody, in all stages of life, and in essence to integrate yoga into everybody's lives.
Augustu is locally born, he is the regional champion in bodyboard for several years in a row and knows the home break better than anyone. He spend most of his time in the water and lives right at the beach. Augustu speaks Portuguese and English.
Rodolfo is the engine of Calhau. He is originally from mainland Portugal. He spent his youth traveling the world as an architect and surfer before finding his “home” here in Madeira in 1992. He speaks Italian, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese and is currently taking German lessons.
This surf camp will take place on Porto da Cruz, Madeira Island, Portugal. It is a charming village on the northeast coast of Madeira Island. This place is famous for surfing; excellent for a sea bath or for a stroll on one of the many trails that cross beautiful landscapes in Porto da Cruz.
In addition to all this, there is between Porto da Cruz and Faial a unique rock formation with 580 meters of height called Penha d'Águia. It is possible to climb it by a steep path with fabulous views of the sea and the surroundings.
Every day during this holiday, you will be served with daily breakfast and one welcome dinner.
During this holiday, you can go to the restaurant with bar and taste delicious Portuguese and Madeiran cuisine as well as wonderful cocktails. They also prepare vegetarian and vegan dishes.
