You will be accommodated at Hotel Playa Reina. It is located on the beach front of Playa Reina, on Mariato’s coastline in the Veraguas Province, Panama. It is located along the western side of the Azuero Peninsula, often referred to as the “Sunset Coast”, thanks to the beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.

You will surf and kayak around Hotel Playa Reina's area in Mariato, Panama. Mariato area is well known for the richness of its waters, beaches, and ocean. Directly in front of the hotel, there are multiple surfing spots ranging from center peak to lefts and rights, river mouth, beach break, and reef breaks. The location is also ideal for fishermen, surfers, and adventurers who love nature. The fishing in the area is of the best in the region.


Hotel Playa Reina's restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner at an additional cost. The chef prepares wholesome meals using the most natural ingredients locally available, many of which come from Hotel Playa Reina's own greenhouse where they grow their own herbs and spices as well as organic tropical fruits and veggies. Their a-la-carte menu is based mainly on local seafood and fresh fish sourced by local fishermen on a daily basis.

If your choice is to remain at the hotel, you can enjoy having a drink with some snacks or playing ping-pong with your friends and afterward, relaxing on the beach watching the surfers catch the waves or watching the sunset over the horizon.

How to get there

Driving directions from Panama City

  • You can exit Panama City either through the Bridge of the Americas or the Centennial Bridge, Panama.
  • Either one will put you on the Pan-American Highway which will take you directly to the city of Santiago (3-hour drive from Panama City).
  • Just 5 minutes before reaching the city of Santiago, turn left at the entrance to Atalaya (asphalt road).
  • You will see a sign that says Atalaya and you will see a fruit stand on the left corner of the entrance to Atalaya and a small street side restaurant / cafe on the right side of the entrance to Atalaya.
  • If you reach the Santiago Mall, then you pass the entrance to Atalaya and need to turn around.
  • Follow the road to Atalaya for approximately 5 minutes. You will pass a small gas station on your right and then come to a small Chinese convenience store / supermarket on your right and you should see the sign to Mariato.
  • Take a right turn there (asphalt road) then that road will take you directly to Mariato in about 40 minutes.
  • When you get to the town of Mariato, you will see the park on your left as you go over a speed bump and then you will see a sign on the right saying Playa Reina just before the Banco Nacional de Panama (National Bank of Panama), take a right there on an asphalt road. Follow that road for 5 minutes and you will come to the Playa Reina beach.
  • Just about 100 meters before the Playa Reina beach, take a right onto a dirt road, where you will see the sign to Hotel Playa Reina.
  • Hotel Playa Reina will be on your immediate left, where their friendly staff will be waiting for your arrival.

Arrival by bus

From Panama City, you need to get to Albrook Bus Terminal first, which is located at the Albrook Mall, next to the Albrook "Marcos A. Gelabert" International Airport (PAC) in the Panama Canal Zone. Buy a bus ticket to Santiago. The buses leave every hour. When you get to Santiago, change buses and get on the bus to Mariato. When you get to Mariato, you need to take a taxi to Playa Reina, which is only a 5-minute drive.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
