"Great Experience "
I had never surfed in my life, and already from the first day I was able to stand. The instructors are very competent and taught us incredibly well, giving us a lot of tips and making us progress smoothly, very fast and in the right way, teaching us step by step.
The hostel feels more like a surf house, there is a very good mood and it felt like home for the week I was there.
I'm even considering going back next winter!
Ps: Ericeira is a little gem!

Hostel is just in perfect location - everything is very very close, like few minutes by walking to the ocean, shops, restaurant etc.
I enjoy the surf lessons - instructors are great, sometimes is in general too much people in the water which is bad, but it’s not instructors/hostel fault.
Having great time here, perfect for surfing:)

"Good for experienced surfers"
I liked the flexibility to use the board for all day. The surf camp offers the possibility to use the board, you rent for the 1.5h class. for all day. This means that you can walk 5/10 min to Praia do Sul to surf on your own. The other beaches are too far to walk but if you have a car you can easily move to nearby places.
I also liked that for the intermediate class, they scheduled the class according to the tide condition to get the best moment.
The kitchen is really good and well equipped and you have the Continente supermarket at 5/10 min walking distance.
They are pretty strict with cleaning the kitchen and the management of the fridge and food which is unusual but really positive.
The rental gear is pretty new.
The cafe nearby is great for breakfast and lunch.

"An absolutely amazing week "
Me and my friend did the 7 day/6 surf lessons/3 yoga lesson package and it was incredible!
The surf lessons were brilliant, and by the end we could both stand up and the beach that we were surfing on felt really safe and fun. The instructors gave personalised advice and were so patient and fun.
The yoga was great and we did aerial yoga and it was challenging and but really fun. Again the instructors were really lovely!
The accomodation and Ericeira was just beautiful and the people were amazing and welcoming. It's so close to Sintra and you can definitely do a day trip to Lisbon, if you wanted a break from the beach.
All in all, one of the best holidays I've been on and I'm already planning my trip back next year!

"Ericeira surf camp"
The surf camp was excellent. As soon as you arrive, Andrea or Ines welcome you and show you about the hostel and your room then fill you in about surfing times, etc. It's a really well run and friendly hostel. The welcoming nature of the staff really sets the mood for an open place where you can make genuine friends really quickly. The surfing is also a lot of fun. The teachers are extremely friendly and kind, and are generally excellent. After spending most of the first day falling off the board by the end of the next session I could stand up, and by the end of the third, I could reliably catch waves. It's genuinely the best feeling. Ericeira is a beautiful little town too and everyone is very friendly. Couldn't recommend this place more.

"Amazing Time"
The hostel stuff was really amazing, taking care of everything, arranging for lessons, transport, super helpful and just nice and kind, assisting with all the questions. This hostel seems to attract nice people because the atmosphere was just great. Instructors knew what they were doing making sure that no matter the weather conditions we still had fun and learned sth new. They were also super enthusiastic and encouraging making the learning really fun for everyone no matter the experience and level.

"Awesome everything!"
The people are so warm and welcoming. Everyone is so friendly and outgoing and there is always something to do at the hostel. It’s so clean and well taken care of and everyone puts in effort to keep it that way. The surf lessons are well organized and the instructors are all highly skilled and very good at sharing their knowledge! Surf instructors Guy and Ugo are really nice, I feel that I progressed thanks to them. It is also a good spot for surf beginners. The girls Andréa and Inès at the reception are welcoming. The atmosphere in the hostel is peaceful. There is a big kitchen, with everything to cook (there is a big supermarket less than 10 min walking from the hostel : Continente), a large room and a terrasse to chill. In the dorm of 6, the bed I had was confortable and there was no noise at night in the street. The localisation is perfect, close to the center of Ericeira and the first beaches (5 min walking). I felt super good there during 1 week, everybody was super friendly.

"Brilliant 4 days of fun! "
Clean,friendly chill hostel. - shout out to Nuno who kept me laughing the whole time and fully engaged with my teenage son so that by the last day his surf skills were much improved and he couldn’t stop smiling! "Wonderful experience"
I spent 4 days at surfcamp55. The hostel is very clean and cozy, the company was just great, and the staff was always very kind and helpful. The surfing instructors really know how to make it amusing and memorable. In particular, I was lucly enough to be able to surf with Nuno for three days, and - along with the other guys- he really knows how to make your surfing skills improve, still maintaining a humble attitude and having a ton of fun. High quality surf training at many diff spots and conditions. Detailed explanation of the locations, breaks and a plan on what we would work on. Lots of filming with very thorough review of each session filmed or not.
Location was great. The Hostel was clean and comfortable. The people staying there were all very cool and respectful. Plenty of places inside and out to hangout. Not a party place and quiet at night which was great. Place has a cool surfer vibe.
All employees were great, responsive and look out for your interests. No complaints at all

"Amazing Experience"
Hostel 55 is a super chill place with cool people coming from all over the world - people just starting to learn how to surf taking lessons as well as people who are already very good bringing their own gear.
Beds are comfy, communal areas nice to hang out and clean, kitchen basic, but everything you need there. No food is provided.
The beach is at 8 Minutes walking distance and so is the cute village of Ericeira (lots of shops, restaurants and bars).
The surf lessons were very good to. They take you by car to the best spot at the best time. Never more than 5 people to a group, often less.
The transfer from the airport worked well. (There is also a bus for 6€).
If you are looking for a fancy place (pool, roof top bar or such) this ist not it, but if you come to surf and hang with chill people this is for you!
I had a great time at Hostel 55 and will definately come back.

"Amazing place to spend a week for beginner surfers"
I wanted to learn surfing for my 28th birthday, and I couldn't have wished for a better place, it's a small hostel run like a family home, Mauricio and David were super helpful staff members. The instructors were amazing at their art. The location was super awesome 5 minute walk to village street and a beautiful sea view from the terrace.
This hostel made me fall in love with Surfing, Ericeira and Portugal. I will visit again.

"No better team to learn to surf with!"
If you’re serious about learning to surf, the intensive package is fantastic. The first session is what most people participate in. The instructors are very patient and are quick to get you in the water once they’ve covered safety and the basics for getting up on the board. You’re in a group of 3-5 people and you rotate through being put into the waves by your instructor. I had Miguel and Gabriel as instructors for my first sessions each day. They’re very patient and good at giving precise feedback after each wave.
The real highlights were the second sessions each day. Most people only surf once a day so I ended up with effectively a private lesson most of the time. I had Rafa as my instructor for my second sessions each day and he did an incredible job helping me understand the basics of how the tides and waves move. He really pushed me during those sessions, but it pays off. By the end of 4 days, I successfully caught my own deep water wave. I obviously still have a long ways to go, but these guys really made the initial experience worthwhile. I can’t wait to come back.
Separate from the surfing, Hostel 55 has a super friendly and helpful team. I stayed in a private room just down the street, but they always made sure I had everything I needed and coordinated for my airport transportation. The people that come through the house are all great, too. It’s a wonderful environment and community that I can’t recommend enough.

The surfing teacher Miguel is super nice and very direct in his teaching method. Surfing groups are usually small (5). The hostel is small, which makes it more like a big family. Hostel staff is very nice and always trying to help. I will definitely return there!

Miguel was a great teacher in every way and always put our safety first. we had 2 girls aged 12 and 14 with us so he took extra care making sure they got a good experience. The staff was very relaxed and nice. Everything is very basic and easy going. The people in the hostel were all very nice and everyone treated each other respectfully (no loud parties at night). There are many affordable restaurants within walking distance. The supermarket is also close by and one has a great kitchen to take care of themselves. From many rooms one can see the see and there are beaches within walking distance. Surf instructors were very nice and we had a blast with them. This was one of my best holidays I ever spend. I was totally stressed out from work and the place helped me to find balance again.

Surflessons were nice, teachers were fun. Be aware that most of the beaches have rocks underneath, so you need to wear boots to surf. The transfer to/from the airport was quick, Goncalo made sure to go to a time that suits you. He was also available everytime you need something or have a question.

"Short but sweet stay"
I only stayed for 4 days but it was waay better than I expected.
The atmosphere is great all the staff are super friendly and helpful. All the facilities in the surf house are good and clean. There is no food provided, but there are plenty of restaurants around with amazing food.
The surfing lessons were excellent, Miguel and Hugo are great and have a lot of patience and will explain everything to you which is super useful if you are a beginner surfer like me :)
The other people who stayed in the surf house were super nice, we had a lovely house bbq together one night.
I recommend this to everyone who is looking for a great and chilled surfing experience and I will definitely come again(hopefully really soon :) )

"Amazing experience in adorable place"
I had an outstanding experience there, everything was so cool!
The place by itself is very cozy, there're beautiful paintings in every room, each with it's own style. The kitchen/living room was a nice place to hang out and have warm talks with all the friendly people there.
Surfing experience was especially cool! Everything was well-organised according to the timetable, coaches (Miguel and Hugo) were very friendly and explained everything clearly.
I went to Ericeira Yoga studio, also enjoyed time there. I could choose which yoga I'd like to attend, so I had a possibility even to try Aerial Yoga, which was absolutely amazing!
Transfer was as agreed, Goncalo picked me up with his car, a bit later than I wrote but that wasn't a problem. We arrived fast to Ericeira having nice talks during the drive.
I would absolutely recommend this experience to everybody!

Such a great trip! I really enjoyed the accommodation and the communal areas. They have a very high standard of cleanliness and the look, layout and location of the place is very high. The surf beaches were great as well, consistent breaks for beginners and intermediate, once the camp gets started they’re consistently getting people’s surfing improved in each lesson. As one of the biggest companies in the area the camp also gets to use the better beaches for teaching during the high season

We spent one week to Hostel 55 and really enjoyed our stay ! Marijn welcomed us very well and was always sweet and very helping. The owner was also nice and always willing to find solutions and provide a good stay in her place.
Rooms have fun and nice decoration and it is close to the city center, yet not too close to avoid too much noise at night. Kitchen is shared and there is a terrace to meet new people easily and cook your own food. Surf instructors were always smiling and giving best advices to master the pop-up and make the most of our time in the water ! We would love to come back again and enjoy another Ericeira experience with crew 55 :)

This hostel is one of the best I have ever been to, the staff are amazing, so friendly and so helpful. There was nothing that was too much trouble and the standard of cleanliness was incredible. It’s in an amazing location and has such a warm and friendly atmosphere I cannot recommend it enough. The surf instructors were so much fun and so professional. I always believe it is not important to surf where, it is important to surf with who. It was great hostel, great instructors and very friendly environment. Location of hostel is awesome! Boards and wetsuits were fine. Very helpful hostel workers (Daggi <3). I would definitely go again.

Gonzalo, the manager welcomes you at the airport with a cool surf look, hats and skatter short ...and very relax vibe. Very pro, he is on time and has great conversation.
Andreia, Gonzalo's partner and also co manager. It looks like, she always gets out of a meditation, yoga class...not only because of the look, legging and fitness outfits...but also because she is super kind and makes sure you have everything you need.
Great couple, great energy! they both speak perfect english.
Hostel 55 is great! the single "Pirates" room is great. While looking at the treasure map on the wall, you can look at the see view..🤩🤩
The collective kitchen is very practical. you can put your food in little boxes on the kitchen shelves, so everything stays in order.
Staff is great! Daggi and all the surf instructors team!

"Very pleased..."
The management caters to your needs and tries to help you. I met Goncalo and Andrea, they are both sweethearts and try to meet your expectations. My room was cold the first day and they gave me a portable heater. I stayed in a private room on the second floor with a beautiful ocean view. The weather was fantastic, the hostel is within walking distance to everything (supermarket, general shopping, laundromat etc). The airport transfer was very comfortable as well. I highly recommend them! They are starting renovations this month, the rooms will be insulated.

Hostel 55 is the most welcoming hostel I've ever been to. The staff are incredible and will help you with anything you need. The rooms are clean, fun, and comfortable. I felt so safe and relaxed here - it felt like home. During the week, I met so many amazing people, and it was due to the fact the hostel has such a calm and relaxed vibe. Overall The hostel, the receptionist, the instructors (Gonzales, Hugo and Fernando (or how the f there names is spelled correctly)) were all fantastic and super welcoming, and a place i definitely would book for a 3th stay, and take surf lessons again !
The instructors are really interested in giving you the best experience, and helping you to learn/get better at surfing on your own terms !
The receptionist is just amazing, welcoming and will find a solution that fit your needs for the stay. She gives the place that last sprinkle, that just makes the whole stay and the atmosphere at the hostel fantastic!
The hostel has the right location, it's near the city center and ocean, but still has a quite cozy backyard etc.

Had an amazing time in Ericeira, the owner, manager and the instructor are super friendly. Everyone staying at the Hostel is so approachable and keen on meeting new people and do extra activities. The packaged offered by the Hostel is very worth it as it works out much cheaper than paying for everything individually. Great facilities, although would encourage organizing hostel nights and maybe just music in the background in the living room. Otherwise the kitchen is great, the hostel is EXTRA clean and the manager is treating you like a King. Thanks for the stay, would definitely come back & recommend it.

I had such an amazing trip at Hostel 55. It was the first time I’d tavelled alone and booked the trip very last minute. The staff were so lovely - Andrea, Goncalo, Andre, Bruno, everyone! They're really chill and it makes the experience that much more relaxing - you really have the feeling you're on holiday at this place!
The surf lessons were great - Andre has so much energy and always wants you to succeed. You feel so motivated to just keep trying if you don't make it the first time!
The room (I had the Jamaica room) was so cool! It was bright and airy. The common room was even brighter and had such a good vibe where everyone could chill or sleep or talk about surf and travels. This place had one of the best vibes of all the hostels I've stayed at.
The hostel was close to the centre and the supermarket and not far from beaches.
