Summer, sun, beach, sand, and new friends; get ready for a fun holiday of surfing! The European Hawaii: That's what insiders call Fuerteventura. The easiest way to catch your first wave is to take part at the Homegrown's surf school. The courses suit all levels and age groups as the team of people from Homegrown searches daily for the best conditions and waves according to your level.
Casa Hilda is located in the center of the picturesque town of Corralejo, 200 meters from the famous Homegrown's surf shop. It is a Mediterranean-style house with an inner courtyard, lounge, sundeck, common kitchen, and two bathrooms. Beach, party, surf, and shops are within a stones' throw of the surf camp.
Homegrown offers you a unique surfing experience in a safe and friendly environment. All equipment, surfboards, and wetsuits are of the best quality. Being a totally mobile surf school, Homegrown offers transportation in their surf vehicles (4X4 Land Rovers to get you off road) to a variety of the finest beach breaks of Fuerteventura.
With the 4X4 Land Rovers, you have the opportunity to go to six different beach breaks (Playa Cotillo, Playa Esquinzo, Playa de las Mujeres, Playa Tubaderas, Playa Morro, and Playa Blanca) and one reef break (Rocky Point).
The lessons are given for different levels:
With the beginners and improvers, Homegrown will take you to go to beach breaks (so with a sandy bottom) and with the intermediate level, they will take you to go to ‘easy’ reef breaks and beach breaks.
Every day, Homegrown will make different groups depending on the level of the students and there will be a maximum of eight pupils per teacher. During the surf courses, Homegrown focuses a lot on giving individual corrections (as everybody makes different mistakes) and depending on your progress, you will change to another group (of course, if you come with a friend and you have a different level, you can choose whether or not to stay in the same group).
With the mobile surf school, you will go surfing on the east coast, west coast, and north coast of Fuerteventura; so for sure you will be surfing several surf spots and in the meanwhile, see something of the island.
Also, if you book for the surf camp pack, you can have free use of the surf equipment after the surf course (the surf equipment has to be taken from the surf shop which is opened every day from 10 a.m. till 10:30 p.m.).
Ready to learn how to catch your first waves? Here, everybody is a beginner, so there is nothing to be ashamed of. You will go surfing everyday and you will make daily progress in your surfing, so after this three days' course you will be a real surfer.
The Homegrown's home-base (their surf shop, surf school, and surf camp) is situated in the north of the island right at the center of Corralejo, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands). This is the best part of the island to surf. The Homegrown's shop and surf school with surf camp was founded in 1995.
Fuerteventura is blessed with good weather and consistent waves all year round, so you can book your holiday whenever you want. Fuerteventura has the longest beaches of the Canary Islands, but with the lowest population density. Only a small straight separates Fuerteventura from the African continent.
The surf camp consists of a Mediterranean style house with a common fully equipped kitchen and you will need to arrange your own meals, there is a supermarket 20 meters from the surf house and plenty of bars and restaurants where you can get sorted for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Corralejo is a vegan friendly place as well and you have plenty of places to choose from.
Additionally, during your surf holiday in Fuerteventura, it is possible to do yoga, learn Spanish, get a surf massage, or do a photo workshop. All those extra activities are compatible with the hours of your surf course.
