This kitesurf camp will take place on Paje beach. Paje is a village on the Tanzania island of Unguja, which is a part of Zanzibar. It is located on the southeast coast between the villages of Bwejuu and Jambiani. The fishermen’s village is situated on a beautiful strip of seashore. You can find small shops and two supermarkets near the cross road. Further inside the village, you can find more small shops, where you can buy souvenirs, especially vivid-colored paintings in Zanzibarian style, handicraft, and various coconut products.
Paje is built in traditional Swahili style, so you can make short trips through long dusty “streets” and enjoy the local cordial atmosphere. Local people usually spend the whole day in their usual work, gathering seaweed, making ropes of coconut fibers, or repairing or building boats (dhows). If you want to take photos, please be kind and ask before you take a shoot. For many locals, this is a pleasant source of income.
As Paje is famous kitesurfing center, most tourists are either keen on kitesurfing there, or they have a possibility to learn the basics of this popular sport. The lagoon is one of the best places in the world to learn kiteboarding. The first reason is that a very consistent side-onshore wind is blowing most of the year. The second reason is that the lagoon is shallow during low tide and has a sandy bottom. Lastly, the reef protects the lagoon from waves.
The price includes daily breakfast. Every morning, you can enjoy a complete homemade breakfast with toast, eggs, fruit juice, coffee, tea, and some fresh fruits, the best way to start a good day. For lunch and dinner, there is a daily menu available. The chef prepares a variety of tasty dishes like seafood, Swahili food, snacks, burgers, and salads.
To assure you quality food, they work with a local supplier, and most of their fruits and vegetables come from a farmer in the area. Their fisherman provides them with some fresh fish like king fish, red snapper, or tuna.
You will receive a one-hour full body massage to relax after a day of kitesurfing and activities.
Please book your flight to arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Hakuna Shida Guesthouse will pick you up from the airport.
