"It was a beautiful and stress-free week - just what I was looking for. The team was awesome and did everything to make it more incredible. Yoga was just perfect. Michael is a super patient and passionate teacher, and I enjoyed doing yoga with him a lot. The surf was fun, and the hotel with beautiful views and friendly staff helped to make the week perfect. Thanks a lot!"

"Had a great week learning to surf (nearly from scratch) and after a few days was pretty confident standing up. Most of all I had a lot of fun with Hugo who is not only a great instructor but also fantastic company! "

"Cannot recommend enough! The staff are brilliant. Hired wetsuits, boards, transfer in minibus to beaches and lessons - all well organised, professional and above all brilliant fun! No matter what level you are made to feel that one day you could be a top surfer. We paid for the 3 hour lesson over 4 days - this turned out to be full days- which was great. Minibus transfer with all the gear meant you are ready to suit up and go when at the beach - and if the beach didn't have surf - there are 15 others to choose from, all within 20 minutes drive. The 3 staff who were with us were relaxed, funny, interested and interesting - we could not fault them at all. If you are going to surf with anyone - choose these guys!! "

"This is the surf school for you if you are looking for surf lessons in a small group at an affordable price. Unlike many other surf school in the area, Freeride limits the numbers of surfers per lesson. This means that you get real one to one attention. The coach are amazing and really take the time to teach you surfing progressively. They come in the water with you, always put safety first, and are good fun too. Another thing to mention is the top quality of the wet suit and the board. Highly recommended! "

"A friend and I booked a 3 day course in August. Since that was the first surf lessons we ever had, we didn't know what to expect. Therefore, we were really happy as everything, including the organizational matters, were done pretty easy a few days before the course. The staff was super friendly and the school's surf cabin on a small beach close to Raposeira became a nice place to chill after the lessons. After the second day we chose to have a break for one day – no problem at all. Our class was perfectly small compared to other schools we saw there. One coach was training with 4-6 people instead of 10 to 25 (!!!) people per coach. The training model was pretty simple and exactly how I like it: warm-up together, one to three exercises on the beach and then - into the water! You always had the chance to ask the coaches for advice, otherwise they let you surf and make you own experiences without much interruption (my other sport coaches in Austria do it the same way). I read on comments below that the surf experience may be limited due to the fixed surf location. At some point that’s true, but for me it was no problem at all and the waves were totally sufficient for beginners, as far as I can say. But this way you will never end up chasing waves for hours and additionally you have a nice shady place where you can refresh or store our stuff. I really enjoyed the surf and the atmosphere there. Thanks to Rita, Tatiana, Hugo and all the other really cool people at Free Ride Surf School. "

"Good school, they offer 3 hours for 55 euro but it is actually a full day of lessons. The teachers are great fun an give good lessons. Suited for kids from age 12. (waves are high for younger kids). The lessons are given at Cordoama Beach, a good Beach to spend the day with the family while the kids have their surf lesson. "

"Good surf school, I visited in winter but they sorted me out with a great coach who was happy to take me to wherever the waves were best for my level. Good equipment (Xcel and Billabong wetsuits and range of boards). Ask for Hugo if you want good coaching and a laugh while you're in the water."

"Attached to the Memmo Baleeira total where we stayed is the Freeride Surf school. If you are learning to surf for the first time, or need some more advanced instruction or a personal guide to the best waves in the Sagres region, this is the team for you.A very approachable attitude, with a great balance between fun and focused instruction the team will help motivate you to achieve more than you ever thought you could before you entered the surf.Taking the time to explain about the sea, the surf and the dynamic environment you are entering really helped the overall instruction experience. The equipment (wetsuit / board) is top notch and transport to and from the beach is all included as part of the price, which was great value. You never felt like you were on the clock at all. Our instructor Joao was simply, brilliant."
