Wake Up In Tarifa (hostel)

This beautiful charm hostel is located in the historical city center of Tarifa, just 150 meters from the Puerta de Jerez city gate. Wake Up In Tarifa Hostel offers air-conditioned dormitories and a shared kitchen in a typical Andalusian house. Each modern accommodation includes bunk beds, lockers, and access to a shared bathroom.

In addition, the communal kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee machine, and cooking utensils. Free Wi-Fi can be accessed in public areas and luggage storage is also available. Bike rental is available on site as well. The Tarifa beach "Balneario" is 600 meters away from the hostel, you will find also a wide range of shops, bars, and restaurants around the property.

Studio (suitable for couple or 1 person)

Located in a quiet corner of the old town of Tarifa and a few minutes from the Puerta de Jerez, and about 500 meters from the beach, this 20-square meter small studio is very well optimized. Equipped for 2 people with a double sofa bed and a TV, its mosaic tiled floor give it a special and cozy charm. Its kitchen opens to the living room and fully equipped. It's also very close to shops, bars, restaurants, and food market.

Apartment 1 (one bedroom, suitable for 2 / 3 persons)

Set in a quiet Andalusian patio in the heart of Tarifa, at 300 meters from the beach, this 30-square meter little residence combines warm ambiance and tranquility to spend holidays where a couple, family, and friends can enjoy themselves. The apartment is composed of a bedroom with 2 single beds and a balcony, a bathroom with shower, and a kitchen open to the living room with a single sofa bed.

Apartment 2 (two bedrooms, suitable for 2 / 4 / 6 persons)

This 80-square meter apartment is well situated in the center, near the beach (300 meters) and the old town. This apartment is a perfect combination for family and groups of friends. This triplex fitted on 3 levels is composed by a kitchen open to the living room with 2 single sofa beds on the ground floor, a bathroom with shower and a bedroom with 2 single beds and a balcony with sea view on the first floor, and a bedroom with a double bed with a terrace with Strait view on the second floor.

This package includes instruction for beginners or intermediate riders and supervision for advanced kite surfer. During your holidays, you will get a total of 20 hours of kite lessons with an instructor. Your daily itinerary includes one kite session of two hours in the morning, a lunch break to relax and recharge your batteries (you will find several chiringuito nearby the kitespots), and another kite session of two hours during the afternoon.

You’ll want to be flying with your kite, rather than see it go underwater. That’s why 90 percent of kitesurfing is about kite control. To make sure you’re fit for the winds, the lesson plan are described below.

Special notes:

Kitesurf:

  • Only hours of kite made will be counted. In case of bad wind conditions and no possibility of practicing kitesurf lessons Freeride Tarifa will not charge the hours of the package that could not be done, the price will be re-adjusted in function.
  • If the person does not attend the scheduled course, the hours will still be billed.
  • The balance of kitesurfing lessons will be paid at the end of the training in cash.

    Olivier Negrel is the founder of Freeride Tarifa. After years of traveling the globe and kitesurfing along all the best coasts, he has decided to set up a school, Freeride Tarifa, in the most famous European kite spot, Tarifa. Olivier is a professional kitesurfing teacher ​for​ more than 10 years with IKO certifications (first and second level) since 2008/2009 and a Spanish kitesurf instructor certified since 2007.

The camp will take place in the heart of Tarifa village. Tarifa is a fortified village in the south of Spain. It’s located in the province of Cadiz in Andalusia. It is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Its unique location means it enjoys a beautiful blend of Spanish and Arabic cultures (at only 14 kilometers from the tip of Morocco, it’s also at the most southerly tip of continental Europe).

It is one of the most scenic villages in Andalusia and is well regarded as a kitesurfer’s paradise. With endless stretches of white sandy beaches and over 300 windy days a year, Tarifa is a hub for all sorts of watersports. With miles of windy beaches and endless bars and restaurants - Tarifa is the perfect spot to eat, sleep, and kitesurf. There are four main spots to choose depending on the wind conditions: Los Lances Norte, Los Lances Sur, Valdevaqueros and Los Caños de Meca. When the wind condition is really powerful, the main spot is Palmones beach in Algeciras.

Arrival by airplane

Many airlines fly to the airports of Malaga, Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, or Gibraltar and most flights are direct. The main airlines are Easyjet, Ryanair, Monarch and British Airways.The distance from Málaga Airport (AGP) to Tarifa is 1 hour and 45 minutes, 2 hours and 30 minutes from Séville Airport (SVQ), 1 hour and 15 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera / Jerez Airport (XRY), and 40 minutes from Gibraltar International Airport (GIB).

Driving directions from Malaga or Gibraltar

  • From Malaga or Gibraltar, highway until Algéciras (15 minutes from Tarifa), then follow the direction Tarifa-Cadiz.

Driving directions from Seville or Jerez de la Frontera

  • From Seville or Jerez de la Frontera, take the highway in the direction of Cadiz.
  • Before arriving in Cadiz, follow the highway (A48) in the direction of Algéciras.
  • The highway ends in Vejer De la Frontera (25 minutes from Tarifa), then follow the direction Algéciras-Tarifa.
  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 30 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
