Ferrel Surf House welcomes you to their home in the charming village of Baleal, where the beach is in the front of the house. They love having a community vibe in their house which is why there’s a lot of space to hang out. Outdoor on the terrace or indoor in the spacious living room where they sometimes have movie nights or do the surf analysis.
Four private rooms and four dormitories, all of them decorated with the love and care that aim to make you feel, not like tourists but like friends. Solo travelers can stay on a budget in the dorms and couples or friends can have their personal space in the private rooms.
Enjoy laying on the beautiful beach after surfing, chilling with friends in the beautifully decorated backyard, or watching the amazing sunset in front of the house.
Program
Whether you are looking for a surf camp, a surf school, a surf house, or simply a lovely place to stay, you are in luck. Make yourself at home in the fully equipped modern kitchen and cozy living room and join the Ferrel Surf House crew.
Every surf session lasts around 2 hours, as you drive to different spots to search for the right one for the given conditions. The surf lesson itself is then scheduled for one and a half hours with practice in the water and on land (if needed). They organize two surf sessions during a day - the morning session usually starts at 10 am and the afternoon session at 2 pm.

- Introduction to surf: Safety rules, learn to paddle on board, the duck-dive (pass the wave with the board), put up the board (take off), surfing in the white wave
- What is a surfboard: The bottom turn, knowing how to mark a location on land to the sea, balanced on top of a surfboard

- Introduction: Brief diagnosis of the surfer, recognition of the beaches and streams, revision of the basic techniques of surfing, techniques for paddling and turning the surfboard (tricks and details)

- Surfing: Distinguish different types of waves and surf to apply in each of them, catch green waves, the bottom turn, and its importance for the success of the wave, techniques to pass the wave (duck-dive)

Location
The Ferrel Surf House is located in Peniche, Portugal, one of the best places to surf in Europe. It is widely recognized as the surf capital of Portugal and a true Mecca of surfing.
Peniche is located at the western extremity of a peninsula of the same name. Surrounded by surf spots that work at almost any given swell and wind direction, making for consistent conditions to learn and practice surfing all year round, and as they say, practices make perfect.
You can make a day trip to Lisbon, which is only a 90-minute drive away, or to the beautiful town of Obidos, which is a 20-minute drive away.
They’re located right at the beachfront of Baleal Beach. There are a bunch of beautiful beach breaks right in front of your doorstep (Praia Baleal Sul). If you take a 5 minute walk north towards the town, there are more surf spots you can check out (Praia Baleal Das Pedras Muitas, Praia Almagreira).
If you want to see what's going on besides surfing, go for a stroll in the town of Baleal, where there is heaps of restaurants, bars and shops. The beach bars are great fun for some drinks in the evening. If you want to get a rather local experience, you can walk up the main road of the main street to find some cozy cafés and surf shops.

Arrival by car
If you are travelling by car, it is about 90 kilometers from Lisbon center to Ferrel. There is a public parking in front of the surf house where you can find some place to park your car. If they are available, they can organize a pick up from Peniche directly to their surf house in Ferrel.
Arrival by bus
You can take a bus from Lisbon to Peniche which takes 90 minutes and costs between 7 and 10 EUR per person.
