Join Feathers and Fur for a true family vacation. This family surf and yoga retreat has been designed to cater to parents wanting to give their families a remarkable experience. With a safe and secure setting, the whole family will get to explore the elements of Central America, the art of surf, and the practice of yoga. Parents don't worry about their child because nanny service is available for younger ones while parents can surf and treat themselves to a yoga!
During the retreat, you can choose to stay either in a cabana or in an ocean views bungalow at Los Cardones Ecolodge. It is a stunning off-the-grid retreat center that has no electricity, no internet, and no distractions atmosphere. Los Cardones Ecolodge is disconnected from the modern pace and fully connected to the stars and tides.
The Pacific Ocean rumble lulls you to sleep and bird songs welcome each new day. Take this time to turn off your phone, put your email on hold, and fully embrace the beach lifestyle. This is an eco-friendly site so please only bring products that are completely biodegradable and gentle to the natural systems.
The beach cabanas are private and situated within 10 yards of the ocean. It is made of bricks and sustainable palm fronds. There is also a spacious terrace with lounge chairs and hammocks, one bedroom, and a bathroom with sink and shower. The room is equipped with electronic safe and solar lights.
The stilted bungalows are private and located right on the ocean. It is made of sustainable precious wood and palm fronds and elevated on stilts on the oceanfront. There is a spacious balcony with lounge chairs and hammocks, one bedroom, and a bathroom with its private toilet, shower, and sink. It provides beach view and is also equipped with electronic safe and solar lights. The prices for bungalow are as follows:
This family retreat will give you 2 daily yoga classes, 1 parents, and for 1 kids or family. You will also have a workshop on Ayurvedic theory and “Family Sadhana”, a ritual, routine, and practice in your every day life to infuse connection and love. As for surfing, the lessons will be divided into beginner, for parents or kids, and advanced, for parents only. In session surf coaching will help you to understand surfing more deeply.
Parents will also get duck-diving surf clinic. After doing tiring activities, relax yourself with daily meditation sessions. There will be other activities included in your retreat such as Spanish lessons, a visit to Sea Turtle Conservation (beach patrol, educational seminars, and live release), library local school excursion, volunteer project, and games such as ping-pong, basketball, board games, and volleyball.

Danielle is a certified 200-hour yoga teacher training with Pacific Elements Yoga under the teachings of Natalie Rousseau Horscroft in the Hatha and Vinyasa traditions. She is also a certified Madhuri method Ayurvedic teacher training and certified Pre and Post Natal yoga teacher training. With playfulness and sincerity, she offers an Ayurvedic and therapeutic approach to deepen your yoga practice with deep respect to the ancient lineages and traditions of yoga. She invites you to come explore on your mat and in the surf.
Paul has been surfing and instructing for over a decade. He received his teaching certificate from the BCASI (British Columbia Association of Surf Instructors) and has taught lessons out of the coastal Canadian towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. He has taught for two years in Nicaragua, and he is a surf guide on Nootka Island, British Columbia, and in San Pancho or Sayulita region of Mexico. Paul’s teaching strategy is patient and personalized. His beliefs remain firm that anyone can surf, and everyone should.
This family retreat will take pace at Los Cardones Ecolodge which is located in Nicaragua.
You will be provided with three meals daily, freshly prepared in-house by an experienced staff of local chefs. You can expect a daily continental and a la carte breakfast to suit your practice and surf schedule, lunch and dinner specials, as well as a la carte menu options. You can pamper yourself with a massage at an extra cost.
At Mercado Israel in Managua, take the bus to San Cayetano. Buses run daily from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., every 45 minutes during the week and every 1 hour on the weekends. Stop at California. From California you may hire a moto taxi or try to hitch a ride 15 kilometers to the beach following the signs.
