Ericeira Surf Camp offers a high-quality service and seeks optimal learning conditions according to your level. All surf instructors are native surfers with fully-recognized instructor and lifeguard qualifications. All lessons are in Portuguese or English.

Some of the instructors may also speak a third language, so if you do not feel confident in speaking English, do not be shy, they will be able to provide you some tutorial help. All courses have the same standards: well-tutored instructors with many years of surfing experience and a love for the sport.

Groups are never larger than eight people. With the surf classes, you get material free of charge for your own use, such as surfboards and high-quality wetsuits. After the session, you are allowed to use the material, as long as an instructor is around to watch and guarantee your safety.

Each surf unit is two hours, split in theory, warm-up, practice time, and feedback. Before your first ever surf lesson, you may be taken to the municipal swimming pool, where you can start understanding the safety procedures of surfing without being put into the hazards of the ocean.

As an intermediate, the surf program will focus on the basics of surfing, as well as the jump to being independent and creative with the waves. The team will teach you how to handle a board in water, position yourself in the sea, lie down, and paddle and stand once you catch a wave.

They will also teach you how to read the conditions of the sea. Prior to this, you will learn about safety to prevent any type of accidents. In these stages, classes will be given with waves a meter in height and never above your chest.
