The villa can comfortably accommodate up to 19 people. In the five unique spaces combined, there are nine bedrooms with double beds and ensuite bathrooms. Additionally, the sofa in the chill-out zone in Villa Nelum can be transformed into a bed.

Eraeliya Villas & Gardens also has the ability to close down one of the villas (two-bedroom Villa Walauwa) to accommodate smaller groups.

Villa Bawana

Villa Bawana is a magnificent two-story colonial style villa. The living area, with its high ceilings, includes a dining room, a library and a poker table. Inside the villa, time freezes as you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of colonial Sri Lanka - luxurious and unhurried.

Most of the personal collection of art and antiques, which have been collected from all over Asia, are placed inside Villa Bawana. The central passage-portal of the villa leads to the infinity pool. The pool’s water level visually blends with the ocean on the horizon, and the effect is really cool!

On each floor there are two spacious bedrooms with huge terraces and panoramic French windows overlooking the garden and the ocean. All spaces in the villa are lively and each room has its own Sinhala name.

If the Pan-Asian modern tropical style is what you are looking for, with the pool a stone’s throw away from the bedroom, then you will enjoy the Diviya room, meaning “heaven” in Singhalese, or the Alaya room, which means “love.” All the furniture is incredibly comfy and was made by hand in workshops in Sri Lanka.

If you love colonial chic, luxury and splendour, then you will get great pleasure from the huge canopy beds, carved ebony and antiques awaiting you in the Samaya (“world”) and Ramaya (“paradise”) rooms.

Muhudu Bella

It is located away from the other spaces and is closest to the ocean, just a couple of meters from the sandy beach. Walking out through the huge glass bedroom door and onto the secluded wooden terrace, you can literally feel the salty spray on your face.

Behind the double bed there is a spacious wardrobe. Almost nowhere else can you find a chalet whose floor plan uses the golden Fibonacci spiral! To get to the bathroom you walk down from the round bedroom via a swirling (but not laborious) stairway.

Ambalama Pavillion

An ambalama is a traditional Sri Lankan resting place, and this special space has been designed to completely immerse its occupants in Sri Lanka’s tropical lifestyle and unify them with nature.

The antiquarian four-poster double bed with mosquito net, desk, sofa, and armchair create an atmosphere of homeliness yet you’ll find no TV here. This villa is perfect for creative minds and those in search of pure inspiration, relax in the cool of the AC, or open up the space and immerse yourself in a sensory feast of tropical light and sound.

The villa’s glass walls reveal the shady green of the garden, where Raspis bushes and tropical plants surround the bungalow to create a private space. Here you’ll find an umbrella and dining table to enjoy your meals within the cool shade of the plants.

The villa is furnished with eye-catching furniture, and a stunning Jaffna antique carved doorway leads into a large outdoor garden bathroom designed for showering under the stars, amongst the tropical bushes and with the relaxing sound of water flowing from the water fountain.

Please note that while the villa is fully enclosed it is also close to the road and the main gate, so this room is not recommended for light sleepers.

Garden House Nelum

Garden House Nelum were first planned to be a spa but it turned out to be so charming in its fabulous natural environment that it was adapted to a modest, yet luxurious garden house.

Therefore, in the bedroom, is a huge bathtub made of a single piece of marble, in which at least five people can fit. The rest of the space is divided into a cozy living room with a dining table and a chill out area with TV and a soft sofa that can easily be transformed into a bed.

Here is another magical secret of the house: when you are sitting at the table in the living room, through the wide double doors you view the huge banyan tree, which Eraeliya Villas & Gardens (and not without reason!) considers the guardian of the villa.

Villa Walauwa

The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a lush sofa, TV, and every other comfort of the heart you could want. However, life in Villa Walauwa, revolves around the veranda. Here you’ll find an enormous dining table that seats 12 people and beautifully upholstered furniture for every taste.

You walk out of the villa directly onto the covered terrace and are surrounded by the shade and coolness of the tree canopy. The magnificent colors of the sunset in the evening will linger in your dreams long after you leave, beckoning you to return here again! Villa Walauwa is not included if you book the 7-bedroom option.

Sri Lanka is the country of eternal summer, where the warm waters of the Indian Ocean wash the island all year round. Eraeliya Villas & Gardens is blessed with blue whales swimming along the shores. These, the largest animal on the planet, are easy to see. Boats go out daily from the port of Mirissa! If you come with children, they will be delighted by a visit to the sea turtle nursery.

The city-fort of Galle is just half an hour away. Built in the 16th century, Galle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized as the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and South-East Asia. Additionally, this cozy colonial town has many shops and restaurants for you to enjoy. We will gladly advise you as to which ones are worth a visit.

Eraeliya Villas & Gadens is also surrounded by amazing surf spots, from the beach breaks of Weligama to reefs such as Fishermans, Rams, and Lazy Lefts!

Connoisseurs of Ceylon tea and spices will be pleased with the world-famous lowland plantations found nearby. Tireless spiritual seekers will be attracted to the Buddhist temples, with their thousand-year history, brightly dressed monks, as well as the strict and exotic rituals and practices of Theravada Buddhism.

A stones throw away you’ll find Weligama beach with the very picturesque Taprobane Island and a variety of restaurants and shops.

Things to do (optional)

In the world, there are few villas that can boast of having their own surf spot, and Eraeliya Villas & Gardens has two of them!

Jungle Beach is a unique reef spot, with a sharp left wave, more suited for advanced surfers, and a long flat right wave, for those who have begun to surf recently. The villa is ideal for surf camps: the waves are reliable from October to April.

From the villa there are stunning views of both spots, and you can easily check the surf or watch the riders right from your own private terrace. For first timers to surfing, the spot can be a bit difficult. It would be better to go to a beach with a sandy bottom and small gentle waves.

The main beach of Weligama is a 10 minute drive from the villa and is perfect for learning how to surf. Eraeliya Villas & Gardens can recommend the best surf school and arrange transportation for you.

For lovers of snorkeling - Jungle beach is a real gift. The colorful coral reef is filled with diverse life - sea turtles, stingrays, and dozens of species of exotic fish.

Culinary classes

The traditional national food of Sri Lanka is rice and curry. It may sound monotonous, but, in fact, you will find it encompasses several hundred varieties including seafood, fish, and vegetable dishes. All of them are extremely tasty, healthy, and prepared according to ancient recipes, with local spices, based on knowledge of Ayurvedic secrets of healthy eating. Chef Sha, will be happy to teach you how to prepare them.

The villa has everything you need for individual or group yoga and meditation. There is a wide variety of spaces for practicing, all of which take advantage of the fresh ocean breeze and inspiring views.

You will find everything from a private terrace to a wooden deck a meter from the surf. Or if you prefer, a shady garden or a meadow with a fresh cut lawn. At your request, Eraeliya Villas & Gardens can organize lessons with a qualified instructor, or they would be happy to host your yoga retreat.

Blue whale watching

From September to May, whale and dolphin watching boats operate daily, sailing out to sea from the port of Mirissa. The most trusted tour operator is Rajah And The Whales.

Massage, Ayurvedic. and spa treatments

In the spa pavilion, everything is provided for you so that you can enjoy a professional massage, Ayurveda aroma therapy or spa treatments. Share your desires with the manager, and rest assured that they will fulfill them!

Ocean fishing

On request Eraeliya Villas & Gardens organizes group deep-sea fishing trips for giant tuna or blue marlin!

Eraeliya Villas & Gardens will be more than happy to share their recommendations for different sites and tours around the island, to the national parks of Udavalava and Yalla, the Buddhist temples, Dondra lighthouse, Galle Fort, various tea and spices plantations, batik and jewelry factories, and to turtle nurseries.

Want to discover a completely different, non-beach Sri Lanka? Do you want to see and photograph dozens of species of birds and wild animals? It’s quite simple. Just a half hour from the villa's location, you will find the spot for river and lake jungle safari boat tours.
