Combine all ingredients with good vibes, a chilled out atmosphere, and great people. Surf hard, dance like no one is watching, and relax in the sun at a comfortable 28° C every day.

Arrive in Colombo and make your way to Elsewhere Surf Camps. Situated in South Sri Lanka, the camp can be reached using a safe and comfortable van transfer or your own public transport adventure. Check in is from 2 p.m., after which, you will be welcomed with a camp tour to finally show you the way to your room. In here, you may freshen up, have a nap, and head to the local Jungle Beach for a cocktail or a surf and sunset. Head back to camp for welcome dinner and drinks where you will meet your new family.

Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and western foods changing daily. This will be your day one of your surfing career, slap on the sunscreen, take your theory lesson at the theatre (theory is every day and can be before or after the surf session), jump in a tuk-tuk, and head to the surf spot for either a lesson or guided surf (for the more advanced people.) The afternoon is yours for the taking.

You may explore Weligama, shop, relax at the beach, or grab a board and jump in for a free surf. Elsewhere will have recommended optional adventures for you to do in the afternoons if you don’t feel like surfing again.

At the end of the day head back to camp, enjoy your free yoga session at sunset, and end the day with some well-deserved beers as the Elsewhere team hosts you at one of their favorite restaurants for a buffet feast.

Tuesday - Surf lessons number two - Improvement day

Smile for the videographer in the water as he captures photos and videos of you. Then there will be an optional adventure to Galle, the historic city protected from the 2004 tsunami by the fort walls. Enjoy delicious local foods for lunch by visiting one of the many famous restaurants.

Afterward, hit an optional evening surf yoga sessions to stretch out those sore muscles. Dine at the team's favorite Tiki bar, which is just a five minute walk from headquarters. Here you will enjoy the best tuna in Sri Lanka. Finally, head home stuffed, watch a movie or get your party shoes on. The Elsewhere team runs beer pong nights on Tuesdays if people are up for it.

By day three, you’ll have the strength to surf harder. Your pop up and paddling will have come a long way since Monday so get out there and surf your brains out. The Elsewhere team will also provide you with a video analysis session to improve your technique and fix any errors.

Chill in the afternoon with some beach games, table tennis, or a handful of optional activities including yoga. Jump in the van as the Elsewhere team takes you out for wood fired pizzas (other dietary options available). You will meet up with other surf camps and teach them how to party properly. Thursday surf lessons are in the afternoon to allow people to let loose if they choose.

Sleep in, or if you didn't party last night choose whale watching or a national park safari for an additional cost. You can also go for a free surf or do a sunrise yoga session. The day is yours to do as you please. Hangover surf lessons start at 2 p.m. followed by some hair of the dog cocktails for sunset. Tonight is a free night to do as you please. The Elsewhere team will recommend restaurants for you to try and you can use your VIP cards to get discounts on their favorite places. They will also show movies and order pizza to the movie lounge at camp for the really hung-over people.

Last day for your included group surf sessions, however, you can always book more sessions over the weekend if you haven’t had enough. On Friday afternoons, the team usually ends up at a beach somewhere drinking some cocktails. You are free to do as you please, go shopping, do another adventure, play some games.

Once a month, the Elsewhere team does amazing yacht parties on Friday afternoons (high season only). Then, they have a barbecue night at the camp and exchange banter over the week’s shenanigans. Tonight is the famous Tiki bar party night just a five-minute walk from the surf camp.

The Tiki Bar was created by the Elsewhere owner in partnership with a local family and all the Elsewhere guests receive Happy Hour prices until 11 p.m. and 12 p.m. on other week nights. Dance the night away to local and international DJs from the famous cliff top.

Saturday is yours for the taking. Non-party people this is your day to do a safari or go whale watching while the others are asleep or passed out. The team can organize these optional tours for you or you are free do things your way. You can also free surf, snorkel, get a massage, skateboard, play ping pong or darts, chill, watch movies in the theatre or explore. Elsewhere is your oyster, so get out there and make the most of it.

Check out is by 11 a.m.. Grab some stickers and some Elsewhere merch to show off to your friends. Make sure you’ve got everyone on Facebook and say good bye to your Elsewhere family. They miss you already.

Simply the best location, on the beach side of the noisy highway in a peaceful small fishing village. We are right in the middle of the best surfing spots Sri Lanka has to Offer and we have 5 breaks within walking distance from camp. Elsewhere is halfway between Weligama and Midigama. 15 mins to Mirissa. 15 mins to The Rock and Kabalana. 5 mins to Coconuts, Weligama, Rams and Plantations. 30 mins to Galle, Matara and SK Town and 45 mins to Hikkaduwa.

Sri Lanka is a small island country in South Asia, situated just southeast of India and northeast of the Maldives. A busy highway and train line run along the coast of the island; these areas are often densely populated with lots of hotels and resorts sitting right on the highway itself. The vibe is often ruined by the constant noise of traffic and the usual hustle and bustle of urban life.

Living true to their name, Elsewhere Surf Camps are away from all the chaos in one of the very few exclusive areas on the beach side of the highway. Unknown to many tourists, this particular area will give you an authentic taste of Sri Lanka. Surrounded by a friendly local community and an abundance of wildlife such as monkeys, peacocks, monitor lizards, and squirrels.
