On this retreat, you will be accommodated at Vila Marola, Vila Vagalume, Villa Mango, Pousada das Canoas, and Rancho do Peixe. E-Group selects small hotels or pousadas that are unique, beautiful, and full of local character. They are always beachfront with amazing views that come with breakfast and cozy, double rooms.

Vila Marola

Vila Marola is not only a place of rest for the whole family but is also a great hotel for kitesurfing amateurs. The hotel, established for kitesurfing amateurs, is located in a particularly attractive place. Both the beginners and the professionals of kitesurfing will find appropriate conditions for them. The beginners have a possibility to learn to kitesurf in a lagoon while the advanced kitesurfing amateurs and professionals can practice kitesurfing near the hotel.

Vila Vagalume

Located in Trairi in the region of Ceará, 3.2 kilometers from Flecheiras, Vila Vagalume features a terrace and views of the sea. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Every room at this guesthouse is air-conditioned and features a TV. Certain rooms have views of the pool or garden. The rooms come with a private bathroom.

VillaMango Beach Bungalows

With a rustic architecture, combining comfort and charm, VillaMango provides total integration and harmony with nature. VillaMango bungalows - built with certified wood and eucalyptus trees from a reforestation program - are set on stilts, designed to provide a natural wind flow.

Pousada das Canoas

On this part of the trip, the rivers meet the sea and only you and your kite can pass through. Arpoeiras will connect you back to simple civilization and you might spend an awesome night camping under the stars.

Rancho de Peixe

Arriving at Rancho do Peixe, an amazing kite spot, just few kilometers downwind from Jericoacoara, is a truly beautiful beachside hotel spread over several acres with kite rigging area, bar, restaurant and swimming pool. This hotel was selected as a TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers Choice and a Condé Nast award in 2017. Rancho is 12 kilometers from Jericoacoara, a legendary end-of-the-earth town that is definitely worth a night or two on the end of the trip.

Here, everything is designed to keep the local culture always present. It starts with the structure built with wood from reclaimed and carnauba straw, typical of the region. E-Group believes in and takes actions that make a difference and contribute to community development.

The day before the journey begins, E-Group will do a test to evaluate whether the kiter is ready for the downwind and to analyze the conditions and the equipment. You will leave the hotel early each morning for secret, wild, and remote locations. All the details are pre-defined and E-Group offers the guidance from professional athletes in the water, giving valuable tips to kiters daily.

There is a briefing given every morning by the team captain, where you are given a clear vision of the expedition: objectives, the beauty, and the dangers. The support vehicles follow the group whenever possible (where access is not possible, there will be guides in the water to help). Some strategic stopping points have been organized, where the car will stop and wait with you to hydrate yourself with healthy foods and beverages, as well as refresh your mind for the kiting ahead.

Every day, the briefing will be around 09:00 after the breakfast, so you´ll need to prepare your luggage before eating. After the briefing, you will leave your luggage at the reception for the driver (please ask at front desk to help you with that). Then at 10:00, you should be on the beach ready to go. Everything will always be at the reception when you arrive at each hotel and must be there when you leave. You can separate your small bags (with computers and cameras) to go inside the car. Your gear and other equipment will have to go outside of the car. Please leave the luggage at the reception.

The routes are appropriate for riders who:

  • Have more experience in one-to-two-meter waves and are progressing with wave riding
  • Have done multiple downwinders
  • Are confident in their ability to kite for at least three hours per day
  • Can ride toe-side for short distances

You may use your own kiteboarding gear or rent it. E-Group recommends two or three kites, from six to 11 meters, depending on your weight, but nine meters will be probably the best kite for the man and seven meters for the girls. They recommend using surfboard with straps. The surfboard is more comfortable downwind and the straps are very helpful on long distance kitesurfing - they save energy! It is possible on twintips also. If you prefer to rent the kitesurfing gear on the trip, E-group organizes it for you according to your needs.

Team in the water

There will be a professional team in the water, consisting of a captain of the expedition in front of the group, a guide closing the group and giving support to group members, also a professional athlete invited to each edition of SSF to provide support and coaching along the way. There will always be professional and natives guides in the water with the kiters, ensuring safety, reliability, and a great time!

Each trip is accompanied by a support vehicle. If anything goes wrong or there is a need to leave the water, the ground support team is there for you!

Each trip travels with a GPS service, so E-group knows exactly where you’re going and what’s ahead. When all else fails, don’t worry! E-group has an SOS system in place that will bring help to you anywhere, anytime. Helicopter rescue is available for the most extreme incidents.

Satellite phone

Sometimes cellular reception isn’t guaranteed. For this reason, E-group always has their SPOT satellite phone with them, ensuring communication and complete safety!

Once the route is completed, each kiter receives an honorable certificate of completion. Hang it on your wall and add it to your resume!

Day 1 - check-in at Taíba (Vila Marola)

You will check into Vila Marola and have a welcoming meeting with the team. Check your equipment and even test out the water and conditions! Great dinner will be around 19:30 and overnight stay will be in Taíba.

Day 2 - Taíba to Guajiru (Vila Vagalume) / 65 kilometers

You will meet for breakfast at 08:00 and have a briefing around 09:00. This will be done every day and is very important to share details of the route, specific risks or cautious areas, define stop in the strategic meeting points and check important points. You leave whenever the wind starts blowing in the morning. You will have an overnight stay at Vila Vagalume.

Day 3 - Guajiru to Icaraizinho (Villa Mango) / 70 kilometers

Usually the 4 × 4 follows the group during the whole way to Icaraízinho but depending on the tide condition where the rivers meet the ocean, you may have no access by car. Passing through Flexeiras, Mundaú, and Baleia, spectacular beaches surrounded by red rocks and palm trees will make you sigh. In Icaraízinho, you can count on an amazing overnight stay at the marvelous VillaMango Beach Bungalow.

Day 4 - Icaraizinho to Arpoeiras (Pousada das Canoas) / 70 kilometers

You will meet with everyone in the morning - the brief description of the day. Here the rivers meet the sea and only you and your kite can pass through to the beach. Arpoeiras will connect everyone back to a simple civilization. You will stay at Pousada das Canoas.

Day 5 - Arpoeiras to Preá (Rancho do Peixe) / 50 kilometers

You will have breakfast and briefing session as usual and then enjoy a magic ride all the way to the amazing Preá Beach. The Rancho do Peixe team is waiting for the group with a special welcome as you will stay there.

Day 6 - Preá

You will check out at noon from Rancho do Peixe.

This kitesurf camp takes place on the classic path in Ceará, Brazil. You will start from Taíba to Guajiru, Icaraizinho, Arpoeiras, and finally, end your camp in Preá. On this classic path, you will explore the coast of Ceará, which means turquoise waters and see numerous beautiful beaches along the way. This part of the Brazilian coastline, from Ceará to Maranhão, is quite rare.

There are constant winds every day which ensure high quality kiting experiences during the entirety of the season (June to January). There is no other place in the world where it is possible to follow the coastline for hundreds of kilometers, having constant wind and warm waters throughout the entire path. Imagine traveling, discovering new places, experiencing raw nature, and kiting along 100, 200, and 300 kilometers at a time.

You do all of this using only the energy of the wind, with the support, comfort and safety of a GPS, satellite phones, and guides helping along the way. While cruising along wonderful, untouched beaches, rivers and dunes, and experiencing some secret and unusual landscapes, there are some obstacles along the way: boats and traps, strong currents, and even some rocks. E-group offers a complete experience, which includes a 4x4 support vehicle, equipped with first aid gear and professional drivers along the entire route.

Ceará is one of the 27 states of Brazil, located in the northeastern part of the country, on the Atlantic Coast. It is also one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil. The state capital is the city of Fortaleza, the country’s fourth most populous city. There is no other place in the world where it is possible to follow the coastline for hundreds of kilometers, having constant wind and warm waters throughout the entire path. You will find some nice small waves for downwind, beautiful fisherman villages, nice hotels and delicious Brazilian food.

Literally, the name Ceará means sings the jandaia. According to José de Alencar, one of the most important writers of Brazil and an authority in Tupi Guaraní, Ceará means turquoise or green waters. There are also theories that the state name would derive from Siriará, a reference to the crabs from the seashore. In this path, you will get to know beautiful places like Paracuru, Flexeiras, Baleia, Ilha do Guajiru (international kite point), and Arpoeiras Beach.

Brazil is a very large, incredibly diverse and vibrant country. It’s just about as large as the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii, and has a population of more than 200 million. You can find all types of landscapes in Brazil and the population has a history in indigenous people as well as immigrants from Africa, Europe, and Asia, resulting in a very very diverse and cosmopolitan culture. In E-Group's experience, Brazilian people are friendly, open, helpful, well-educated, well-traveled, and interested in meeting and interacting with visitors to their country.

On this retreat, you will be served breakfast, dinner, and snacks. Your dinner will be served with water, soft drinks, beer, and caipirinha. Expect new flavors and tastes with the exceptional gastronomy of Brazil. Along the route, you will be provided with sandwiches, fruit, cereal bars, water, Red Bull, and Gatorades - more fuel for the rest of the ride! Upon arrival at each hotel, you will be served welcome drinks. You can choose to enjoy a fresh juice, cold beer, or your favorite caipirinha. Other drink options at the hotels are extra costs.
