"A yoga retreat with some surfing thrown in. A totally awesome weekend! Duck soups retreats with such a cool bunch of people! At some point you may see me in a wet suit. So, what I learned in essentially 48 hours is I can learn from being in a different environment and town, I learned some new yoga moves and listened to some great unheard tunes that has inspired me to do the sun salutation every morning, made some new friends, for only having 7 swimming sessions and never been in the sea before, I loved the sea and braved surfing even in the rain. (I even loved the wet suit ). So I made it to my knee and one foot to almost standing, and cheered my comrades on without feeling competitive or frustrated. I just grabbed my board, went back in and loved every moment! That was 48 hours of fun!"

"Emily, I had the utmost pleasure of meeting (and being taught by) this beautiful woman during my stay at the April-June 2015 YTTC in Dharamsala with Chandra International Yoga. She brings so much to the table, it’s honestly quite hard to adequately describe her. I know this seems like an gross up-sell of someone, but I promise you that she is incredible! Emily, I wish you the absolute best in everything. Thank you for what you’ve given me and, for that matter, for everyone else as well! Safe and happy travels!"

"My stay was awesome with a welcome treat from travelling around Sri Lanka. Lush surroundings with the infinity pool surrounded by jungle with monkeys in the trees. A very friendly staff and excellent food. I really hope to get back some day."

"Since leaving Ratnakara all I can think about is when I can next return. The villa is just the most stunning place I have ever been. The rooms are beautifully done, the staff are extremely friendly and always there to help. The food eaten out on the terrace overlooking the jungle was awesome along with the yoga shala with the most relaxing feel looking out over the same vibrant and chattering jungle. We were even watched by monkeys one day while practicing. The one thing I will never forget is the sound of the waves, which set the most amazing sense of calmness, which I struggle to find in my normal daily life back home. I truly found my happy place and I am so excited to start planning my next visit."

"Our experience was a very relaxing weekend getaway. The place itself is lovely with a homely feel, great accommodation, food, and very helpful and flexible staff. The yoga instructors were great, accommodating and with fun activities. The yoga itself was suitable for all levels but challenging at the same time. I will definitely come back again."

"This woman Nothing short of a goddess. I have had the opportunity to spend a month studying in India with Emily. Emily. Changed. My. Life. An extraordinary yoga practitioner and teacher. She is masterful in her delivery, artful in her sequencing, technical in her alignment and oh so inspiring in her powerful, guiding presence. Would I politely recommend studying with Emily? No. I would grab you by the shoulders, shake you (in a very non-violent way) and say: Youre insane if you do not take the opportunity to be exposed to what she offers!!! Seriously. I want more, more, more. This woman is changing the world. I adore you, Emily. Thank you."

All the best with everything, Em."

  • Review by Micha Guszek from Warsaw, Poland

"What others discover about their bodies through yoga or sports at a certain stage in their lives, she has already learned in her studies and training. What others usually start bringing to consciousness, if they are persistent and lucky, during the mid-life crisis, she has already started unraveling. What others need to learn about teaching, she has already mastered, as she had worked as a teacher long before she started her yogic journey. There are many fine yogis around, but many of them are not much more than fine yogis. Unlike Emily, whose being a fine yogi is but a cherry on a cake of her vast professional, psychological and humanist background."

"Emily is wonderful teacher. I saw the real professional yoga teacher. She has the talent to teach others people. After her lessons, you not only feel your body better, good energy, but also you get a lot of information about physiology and how to safely use your body in the practice yoga. Thank you for this great experience!"

"Emilys yoga teaching was inspiring. As a student at university I felt the mental and emotional demands - often not having any time to relax and take a step back. An hour session with Emily allowed me to escape the busy day to day life with an opportunity to develop my posture, strength and flexibility as well as giving me a much needed release. In Gloucester, we miss Emily, her yoga classes, her happy self and her fantastic teaching and I would highly recommend attending her class if you get a chance."

"Emily is a very giving teacher. As well as having a gift for creating beautiful dynamic flow that I can lose oneself in, she has also unlocked the woo woo side of yoga in a way that I find not only completely accessible, but touching and meaningful. Emily also brings an eclectic range of other things to the mat from her varied sports science and dance background, which have really enhanced my practice."

"I discovered Emily when we were both part of a core teaching team at a new and vibrant hot yoga studio in Cheltenham, UK. Emilys yoga is a clever combination of feeling steady and calm whilst you are doing it and afterwards you realize you had a truly effective physical workout and super stretch! With super music playlists and a strong sports background to boot, I am happy to recommend Emilys classes. She was also instrumental in recommending yoga to the cross fit community."
